Thanks for the advice. I'm going to use Smart Switch between the phones. I see another app call Syncios Samsung transfer.

Any suggestions on good protective cases. Thinking of getting Otterbox

I use otterbox.  Over the years, I have decided I need a phone hanging on my belt all day.  I like the otterbox as it grabs onto my belt really good and does not pop off when doing something unusual. It might not be as pretty as some other cases, but it sure is protective.

I have no knowledge of Syncios Samsung App.

You will need  a screen protector that is not part of otterbox. I bought two at Best Buy that would not stay on the phone. They kept coming off. Not sure what brand they were, but I would never buy them again.   I bought two replacements at Wal-Mart and so far they are ok. They were a different brand.

If you want to maintain thinness and the ability to show off your phone while keeping it protected I'd suggest a CrashGuard bumper from RhinoShield and one of their tempered glass screen protectors and back protectors. The screen protectors a 9 on Mohs hardness scale so they don't scratch easily and they're very shatter resistant.

Something odd is up we are almost 2 months without so much as a security update. That's never happened before. At this point the next update has to be VoLTE or they are waiting for the final outcome for the merger before any more software updates go out.

Sad state of affairs - these are just supposed to be security patches to prevent hackers...

Sprint was on the ball with updates until April. This phone has never went this long without a update before. I guess after it’s first birthday they dial back updates. But that doesn’t explain why the Note 9 has also not been updated since April.

Was told that Google may be the one who is to blame, although Pixel has June's already...

I got my S9 device to replace the S7 and getting 'please contact Sprint to unlock device' when I put the S7 SIM in the S9. Sprint tells me I need new SIM because it's not compatible. Thought they both have the same SIM.

Thanks for that information. I went ahead and ordered the SIMOLW506TQ sim card for my phone and will be here tomorrow. I hope that allows me to activate the phone and move my number over to the S9.

Before I bought the phone I contacted Sprint with the IMEI # and they said that it's cleared to be activated. Since I bought the phone, I've been trying to use the S7 sim card,  they are telling me that the phone is locked and to return the phone. They said it hasn't been active in 50 days. I'm wondering if they are talking about sim unlocking.

I hope once I get the new sim I can activate this phone.

I keep hearing about the June patch finally making it to some phones. Yet here I am with April still being the most recent. This is really quite annoying.

Yeah I don’t know what’s going on. The Note 9 just got the May patch last week. And the S9 they just forgot about. How is the S8 seeing more support than its successor?

Over two months since an update now. Are there any beta testers on here? What is the most recent beta build looking like?

At this point I'm convinced Sprint has no plans of bringing volte to the S9 unless the merger happens.

Yes, very odd about the s9 series.

I'm wondering if they find out about the data drops on the s10 with the volte updates and holding off until all the s10 models are fixed.

I finally got the July update late last week. My AT&T phone is still happy with the June update.

Just got August update on UNLOCKED Galaxy S-9.   Can not find any place to turn on VOLTE. Looks like we did not get any better aggregation options.  Actually, I see NOTHING changed or added on a quick look.  File was just over 200MB

August 15th indicates an automatic Security update of July 1,2019.  That is a Sprint sold Galaxy S9

UPDATE: Another update for my Sprint sold Galaxy S9 was auto updated with August 1sr update

    • Since this is kind of the general chat thread, I have to share this humorous story (at least it is to me): Since around February/March of this year, my S22U has been an absolute pain to charge. USB-C cables would immediately fall out and it progressively got worse and worse until it often took me a number of minutes to get the angle of the cable juuuussst right to get charging to occur at all (not exaggerating). The connection was so weak that even walking heavily could cause the cable to disconnect. I tried cleaning out the port with a stable, a paperclip, etc. Some dust/lint/dirt came out but the connection didn't improve one bit. Needless to say, this was a MONSTER headache and had me hating this phone. I just didn't have the finances right now for a replacement.  Which brings us to the night before last. I am angry as hell because I had spent five minutes trying to get this phone to charge and failed. I am looking in the port and I notice it doesn't look right. The walls look rough and, using a staple, the back and walls feel REALLY rough and very hard. I get some lint/dust out with the staple and it improves charging in the sense I can get it to charge but it doesn't remove any of the hard stuff. It's late and it's charging, so that's enough for now. I decide it's time to see if that hard stuff is part of the connector or not. More aggressive methods are needed! I work in a biochem lab and we have a lot of different sizes of disposable needles available. So, yesterday morning, while in the lab I grab a few different sizes of needles between 26AWG and 31 AWG. When I got home, I got to work and start probing the connector with the 26 AWG and 31 AWG needle. The stuff feels extremely hard, almost like it was part of the connector, but a bit does break off. Under examination of the bit, it's almost sandy with dust/lint embedded in it. It's not part of the connector but instead some sort of rock-hard crap! That's when I remember that I had done some rock hounding at the end of last year and in January. This involved lots of digging in very sandy/dusty soils; soils which bare more than a passing resemblance to the crap in the connector. We have our answer, this debris is basically compacted/cemented rock dust. Over time, moisture in the area combined with the compression from inserting the USB-C connector had turned it into cement. I start going nuts chiseling away at it with the 26 AWG needle. After about 5-10 minutes of constant chiseling and scraping with the 26AWG and 31AWG needles, I see the first signs of metal at the back of the connector. So it is metal around the outsides! Another 5 minutes of work and I have scraped away pretty much all of the crap in the connector. A few finishing passes with the 31AWG needle, a blast of compressed air, and it is time to see if this helped any. I plug my regular USB-C cable and holy crap it clicks into place; it hasn't done that since February! I pick up the phone and the cable has actually latched! The connector works pretty much like it did over a year ago, it's almost like having a brand new phone!
    • That's odd, they are usually almost lock step with TMO. I forgot to mention this also includes the September Security Update.
    • 417.55 MB September security update just downloaded here for S24+ unlocked   Edit:  after Sept security update install, checked and found a 13MB GP System update as well.  Still showing August 1st there however.
    • T-Mobile is selling the rest of the 3.45GHz spectrum to Columbia Capital.
    • Still nothing for my AT&T and Visible phones.
