Why is Sprint's signal so 'dirty' compared to T/TMO?

I took my sim card out and chose manual band selection to lock onto 41.

How did you do manual band selection? Are you rooted? The Dialer code to get to RAT selection is locked for me.

Remove the sim card, reboot. No root here.

I only count 20MHz worth of PCS in Duluth on FCC Dashboard.  Then 30MHz in St. Paul / Minneapolis.

There is 20 MHz of PCS in Duluth. There's 40 MHz in Minneapolis after a spectrum swap that recently went through in Minneapolis with Verizon,

That's understandable and I m pretty sure sprint is doing evdo refarming as well
