Samsung Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge User Thread

Does the S7e support 4x4 Mimo and 256 qam on Sprint's network?

No and Yes. Mainly no S7e only has 2 antennas and sprint network does not do 256 qam.  Meaning your s7e will not use the full 4x4 but 2 s7e could be grouped together and receive at the same time using 2x2 for one and 2x2 for the other. Qam is just how complex the signal received the more complex the higher bits per second. When sprint starts using 256 qam the s7 should use it I am not sure at what code rate though.

Anyone rocking the zerolemon case for the non edge s7? Kinda want to compare it to a Otterbox defender as far as thickness, also dose it effect the camera or its flash when taking pictures? Thanks

On play music I accidentally deleted a song, though I was deleting it from play list. Now I'm trying to click listen on the play store and it says syncing music and the pops up wait later. It's done this a few hours. How do I fix this?

System Update on my S7 Edge!

I have noticed my S7E hangs on B41 a bit better. Places I dropped to B25 now hangs on B41 in the -120s RSRP

When you are hanging on to B-41 at a -120 level, how good or bad is the service acting?  Is hanging on to -120 better than using band 25 at a much better level?    My old S-5 will only hang on to B-41 at a -114 to -115 level.   Even at that level, I see better service when it drops off the b-41 and grabs B-25.

It's literally the only way I pay at terminals. Waaaay better "swipe rate" than Android and Apple pay.

Downloaded the beta last night and it's been great. Pretty stable & smooth for beta software.

I just checked system update like you would normally and it was there. It's definitely better on the battery life and nice features that were on the Note7.

No Problem! I'm glad they did this! Gives me hope this phone is at least getting updated and supported for a little longer.

I notice that the lag is better when you start the phone up and battery doesn't die as fast as it did when you didn't use the phone much. I love that the blue blue light filter came.

Says it won't work with GEARVR if that's important to anyone. Doesn't matter to me.

Side question. Are we supposed to get RCS messaging support anytime soon?

    • Band 5 LTE is being shut down to deploy NR in the CLR block. AT&T doesn't have free spectrum anywhere else.
    • Well... They haven't been back to finish the tower. It's still looks the same today as it does when I took those pictures. According to someone from Reddit, which I shall take with a grain of salt, the crew made various safety violations on that tower and that they were probably kicked out of the market. So maybe that's why it remains unfinished? It does seem weird that they just up and left leaving wires just hanging. This is the photo I posted in /r/CellTowers   Side note: I noticed Band 5 LTE going away in some areas. A tower in Bittinger, MD previously had Band 5 LTE and now it no longer does. It still has band 2 and 17 and no aggregation, at least not with my phone. I think it used CA with my ZTE MF288 modem. The Band 2 has 15 MHz bandwidth and hits 80 Mbps no problem.
    • I finally got around to an actual test, in the same location, first with 5G enabled, 7.42 D/L and 0.07 U/l 45ms ping.  Then just a couple minutes later, after the reboot from switching to LTE/CDMA mode, 33.8 D/L and 6.31 U/L with a similar 44ms ping.  This was pretty far from the tower, but I've noticed similar differences in many locations.  Also, I have not had a verified connection to n71 in about 5 days, looking in the *#0011# screen, while a speedtest, or other data in use.
    • Another beta update to SignalCheck Pro is rolling out! Version 4.614b will appear on Google Play sometime over the next several hours. More 5G improvements, the accent color should be fixed, and several Samsung shortcut menus were added. Samsung users, please try all of the new shortcuts and let me know which ones are useful and what they lead to. Thank you!
    • No, unfortunately I haven't seen any useful 5G info from your phone (or anyone else's LG) yet. If you get a software update and happen to find 5G before they shut it down, please try reporting again! The accent color is still in its infancy and only appears on LTE for now. I've had it on my version of SCP for several weeks, initially I didn't think anyone else would like it. Figured I'd offer it up and see what the feedback was.
