Upgrade date suddenly changed from months to now!?

Recommended Posts

Over the years of having sprint my upgrade dates always seemed to roll back.

First it was in augus then it got moved back to may (what it last was) and then just for the heck of it i re texted upgrade to 1131. 2 months ago it was 5/1/16 and now its 10/1/15 yesterday technically.

i am on the old....my way...? plan had like 1500 Minutes unlimited text unlimited data.

So is this allowing me to upgrade and stay on my old plan? or will it force me to something else? i have others on this plan with me and none of them want it to change (we like the plan as it is) plus it still has the old roaming data usage which comes in handy.

Sprint has for a while now allowed people to upgrade if they move to an Easy Pay plan. I see that flag occasionally on my account.

It sounds like you are on an Everything Data plan. (My Way has unlimited minutes). Everything Data was the last plan that has phone subsidies.

Log in to your account and see if this is a subsidized upgrade, or if it means moving to Easy Pay.

This exactly.  I am eligible for an upgrade if I go to a lease or easy-pay.  But 'Not Available' for the 2 year contract.

Same here.  So, if I want a GS6 for example, it would be my regular contract plan price ($80) plus the lease payment for a GS6 ($18).

Now, if I could lease it for free, I'd jump on that!

You would get a $15 service credit as long as you stayed on your legacy plan. Making the phone $3 per month.

Or switch to the $60 plan + $18 and lease it for -$2 compared to your current bill.

I'm still on a contract until July 2016, so I can't switch to that plan.  And by that time, that plan will be $70.  :-)

You can switch to that plan if you upgrade your phone.

Not according to the Sprint people I have talked to.

I promise you if you sign a lease it voids out your current contract and you are eligible for that plan. The only thing is you have to be eligible to upgrade via lease which most account in good standing and like 10 months into a contarct are eligible because sprint wants to get people off contacrts and on to lease.

I am on a unlimited my way from 2014 and my contract wasn't set to expire until July 2016. I was given an early upgrade using easy pay or leasing and I did the easy pay for the new iPhone. When I upgraded, I was able to keep my plan but it did in fact void my contract. When I log into my account and check my contact details it just shows my total easy pay installments.

As for my iPhone I had under contract Sprint even unlocked that phone for me to use on any provider in the United States.

I have a question regarding easy pay with legacy plans. The contract is voided, and the same plan is kept according to comments above. What about employee discounts? Can those still be kept, along with $15 service credit?

I believe so. Not positive though.

Yes, employee discounts remain in effect.

So the $15 service credit is good on easy pay, too? I thought it was just for leases.

Lease only.

Thanks, that's what I thought. I was confused because Marv's post mentioned the credit in discussing easy pay.

Interesting. Different Sprint stores/reps say different things. I called Sprint sales today asking questions. I didn't have any type of service credit on my 450 account. According to the rep, the $15 loyalty service credit is "ONLY" for select plans/accounts only, which is the $60 plan, and that plan only. And if I wanted that, I'd have to give up my legacy plan. Is this true? Only $10 was offered to me if I leased (not easy pay).

Don't think so. I'm on ED1500 and we got a GS6 Edge through Best Buy with the $19/month credit.

I give up. I guess I upgraded a little too early/late for everything to be this complicated.

Spoke with 2 people in sales an hour ago (and more than likely overseas), and spoke with a rep on chat. Both on sales looked at my account, and said no offers are available for leasing with $15 service credit. Only offers I have according to them is adding extra line to my account, in which I don't want, and tablet offers. I asked about long time customers getting that credit. Didn't get anywhere, but them saying I can lease, do easy pay, or 2 yr contract, but if I lease, I have to pay the full monthly charge ($25) of the phone, easy pay a down payment, and of course 2 yr options paying in full, or discounted price. One asked where did I see, hear, and get this info. If you want to know what phone I want, it's the Note 5.

As for rep on chat, she flat out told me I keep my plan, it's qualified go to a Sprint store, get what I want, lease it, and no doubt I will get the credit. Then she said it won't show on my account now if I got the phone, but it will systematically to my account.

Then there's the Best Buy crew. I went there to see what's up. All they tried to do was get me to get their $55 or $85 plan, and walk out with a new phone for free. I didn't bite on that.

Any suggestions? I need to speak with the higher ups it seems lol

Well, I have great news! I will be going to get my leased device probably tomorrow, or later on in week. Got off with a knowledgeable Sprint chat rep, said that everything I was told about was misinformed information, and even apologized. All legacy owners get credit when leasing, will show on bill, and the promotion for leasing ends on 10/31/15.

Isn't $55 + $25 cheaper than $80 + $10? Over 2 years it saves $240 going with the Best Buy plan.

Just a caution, I was told by a rep that once you get into a lease with a legacy plan, you CAN'T go back to subsidies. I don't know how long that customer loyalty credit will last.

Yep, just found out now at another Sprint store. After back and forth last night with chat, and confirming with notes, and my copy of our convo, it appears I'm not eligible with that offer according to Sprint store after showing me in their system. If I do lease, my bill with be roughly around $106 monthly, even with a new everything plan, that will be a dollar less, with employee discount applied.

I think I'm going to do another 2 yr contract instead, like I've been doing for years. Just less hassle, nothing changes, and just pay discounted price along with taxes.
