Weird LTE showing up on sensorly…

Recommended Posts

I don't know if any of you have looked at sprint LTE on sensorly recently but the phantom LTE threat used to be in just North Dakota has spread to Montana and Wyoming. Any ideas what this actually is? Project cedar, rrpp, Verizon?

It's Verizon.  Most of the coverage shown in North Dakota has been there since Mid 2014.  I even totaled a car going up and checking it out last October.  There was no Sprint coverage present in any of the areas.  I checked using a Sprint device and a spectrum analyzer.  But the coverages did all line up with Verizon sites in the places I checked.  Someone has a modified Verizon device that is falsely reporting as Sprint when going through the Sensorly app, as best I can tell.

Aww...I was hoping it maybe was a sprint employee working on project cedar or something :/

Sensorly owes Robert a car in North Dakota.  And me a 14 hour day's pay in Oklahoma -- my standard rate is $70 per hour.

Yeah, I never thought about that.  I should ascribe blame to Sensory.  Yeah, that's the ticket!

No, no, no, you chose the wrong SNL character.  New car.  The right answer is Mr. Subliminal.  $980.  Sensorly owes us compensation.  Hot sex.

Two conflicting thoughts here:

(a.)   I'm thoroughly impressed at the level of dedication demonstrated by the occurrence you reference above.

(b.)  That being said and at the same time....you simply can not open up and drop a bomb like that without elaborating.  I've got to hear the story behind that one (even if the details actually turn out to be a dud)!

Check the ND thread, pretty sure the details (maybe pictures?) are in there. Somewhere else as well, don't remember where it was posted.

To drop another bomb, Robert is actually an early 1980s black man.  Boom!

I love that song.  My mom used to play that song all the time when I was kid.  I like driving my kids nuts with it, now.  That, and Word Up.

Welcome, Robert.  Our illustrious site admin makes a Cameo appearance in this thread.

Thanks Robert....yeah, not nearly as interesting as I was imagining possible in my head  ;)

I actually had a former coworker when I worked for the state run a state van just barely off the road enough in a hilly/windy stretch with almost no curb/wiggle room that he lost control and flipped it down the side of the hill and totaled it (fortunately he came out of it with only bruises/scratches) - when I first read your comment my mind was hearkening back to that and wondering if it were a scenario where you were so engrossed in monitoring the results on your phone that you just momentarily had a similar 'Oops!' happen.

The wife and I often queue up the My80's station on iHeartRadio when on longer trips - everytime it happens to be played we go nuts with it.

Unfortunately my mom was never cool enough to listen to stuff like that....as a kid, *I* was subjected to George and Tammy and the like.  Maybe if I was lucky, some 50's doo-wop/American Grafitti type stuff.

I may be a middle aged white guy living in the Outer Midwest, but I love that genre of music. I grew up on that stuff. Raised in the military, which is very culturally integrated compared to the population at large, I was exposed to much more.

I was still living at home when my Dad retired from the Air Force and moved to Florida. I went to school and was amazed by all my new white friends who had never heard of Kool and the Gang, the Gap Band or anything like that. I would sing songs and they would look at me like I was from another planet. But it made it easier for me to become friends with African Americans and Puerto Ricans. Rural Florida in the 1980's. Fun times!

(1.)  Kool and the Gang remains to this day one of the biggest musical mysteries of all time to me - they were hugely popular for a fair stretch, and then they seemed to suddenly drop off the face of the planet and were getting no airplay except the established classic hits.

(2.)  The biggest example of all where I grew up, though they didn't have the longevity of a Kool and the Gang, was Midnight Star.  The album with Freakazoid and No Parking On The Dance Floor was *INSANELY* popular when I was in junior high.  To the point that being able to find a tape (yeah, it was in either the pre-CD or very very very early beginnings of the CD era) of that album was rare, and if you had it it was like you could fart gold and rainbows and people would love you.

Freakazoid! Haven't thought about that one in a long time! I think we may have strayed off topic. [emoji38]

    • Good catch! I meant 115932/119932. Edited my original post I've noticed the same thing lately and have just assumed that they're skipping it now because they're finally able to deploy mmWave small cells.
    • At some point over the weekend, T-Mobile bumped the Omaha metro from 100+40 to 100+90 of n41! That's a pretty large increase from what we had just a few weeks ago when we were sitting at 80+40Mhz. Out of curiosity, tested a site on my way to work and pulled 1.4Gpbs. That's the fastest I've ever gotten on T-Mobile! For those that know Omaha, this was on Dodge street in Midtown so not exactly a quiet area!
    • Did you mean a different site? eNB ID 112039 has been around for years. Streetview even has it with C-band back in 2022 - https://www.google.com/maps/@40.7303042,-73.9610924,3a,24.1y,18.03h,109.66t/data=!3m8!1e1!3m6!1s2ossx06yU56AYOzREdcK-g!2e0!5s20220201T000000!6shttps:%2F%2Fstreetviewpixels-pa.googleapis.com%2Fv1%2Fthumbnail%3Fpanoid%3D2ossx06yU56AYOzREdcK-g%26cb_client%3Dmaps_sv.share%26w%3D900%26h%3D600%26yaw%3D18.027734930682684%26pitch%3D-19.664180274382204%26thumbfov%3D90!7i16384!8i8192?coh=205410&entry=ttu Meanwhile, Verizon's eNB 84484 in Fort Greene has been updated to include C-band and CBRS, but not mmWave. I've seen this a few times now on updated Verizon sites where it's just the CBRS antenna on its own, not in a shroud and without mmWave. Odd.
    • Drove out into the country today.  Dish stuck to my phone like glue. At least -120 rsrp. Likely only good for phone calls (should have tested.) It then switched to T-Mobile. Getting back on Dish was another issue. I am used to dragging out coverage so I expected a few miles, but had to drive at least 10 miles towards a Dish site. Airplane mode, which worked for Sprint, did nothing. Rebooting did nothing. Finally got it to change over about 2 miles from the site by manually setting the carrier to Dish then it had great reception. Sprint used to have a 15 minute timeout but I did not have the patience today.  Previously I did a speed test on Dish out in the country at the edge of Dish coverage. My speeds were 2g variety. Dish has really overclocked some of these sites. Seen rssp readings in the 50s. Would have called them boomer sites with Sprint but much  more common with Dish.
