Sprint Site Maps are now complete for all 97 markets

How many Sprint LTE Markets will Sprint have by the end of this year until the complete cycle in 2014? Will it be less than AT&T and VZW, or about the same?

According to the running list:

Sprint should have at least 47 markets up and running or in progress by the end of this year. And I believe sprint's stated that they will have NV rolled out to most of its existing footprint by the end of 2013. That means it'll still be smaller than Verizon. I don't know how it'll compare to ATT.

If you use Sprint market boundaries (which are much larger), then Sprint has 48 Sprint Markets that have WiMax in at least part of them. And it took Clearwire 3-1/2 years to deploy partially in 48 Sprint markets. Whereas, Sprint is scheduling to deploy NV/LTE completely in 97 markets (98 if you include affiliate Shentel) in just over 2 years.

I think the last count I remember from Clearwire was something like 71 or 72 markets.

That's Clearwire markets. Which are very small. Clearwire counts markets like how Verizon does.

I thought Verizon had much different market boundaries than Sprint does.

I know, but a sprint wimax phone will work just the same. Plus Sprint owns the majority of clearwire so....

They do. But Clearwire counts markets more similarly to the way Verizon does, and nothing like how Sprint does.

Yes. But the point of the post I was responding to was comparing Clearwire WiMax deployment and Sprint LTE deployment, so the differences in how they count markets needs to be explained when comparing the two deployments.

So, after the 2014 deployment of 98 markets, will Sprint invest to have more markets? 100 Markets is somewhat low, don't you think? Sprint really needs to try to get markets for 3G and 4G that Sprint currently doesn't have covered.

If Sprint counted markets the way Verizon does, Sprint would have 400+ markets. It's just a geographical boundary thing. Sprint's markets are much, much larger than Verizons.

I'm not certain. But based on their press releases, it seems pretty similar to Verizon.

    • Was able to install the March 1 Android security patch. Seems slightly more accurate with 5g ca band id, but can not swear by it. Updated google play system update through the software information screen to March 1. *#73# still works. Froze updates waiting on SCP update beta to fix n41 showing as n38.
    • Just installed it. Thanks for the info.  71 mb mar 1st date.
    • There's a permit for a new 47 story building at 205 Montague St in Downtown Brooklyn. The problem is that  T-Mobile eNB 48352 is on the building next door and this new building will block two out of 3 sectors of the site. For reference, the new building will be roughly as tall as 16 Court St which is right across the street. This site is the primary site covering Cadman Plaza so I wonder what the plan is. Will they just try to change sector placement, move to a different building, or will this just speed up the conversion of the Sprint site at 25 Monroe Place?
    • At least not recently.  I think I might have seen this a year ago.  Not Sure.
    • Did they previously hop between n38 and n41 in prior version of SCP, or have you always seen n41 displayed properly?
