What's a good ad blocker

I downloaded Crystal.

Count me in on crystal. Been looking for something like this for awhile. Never realized it was that easy. I thought I had to jailbreak for it.

To play devil's advocate, I suggest that you guys think about what you are doing.  Do you appreciate the content on the ad supported web sites that you visit?  Are you implicitly biting the hands that feed you?

For better, for worse, S4GRU does not fall into the same category, thankfully.  For as much shit as we take from the haters who disapprove of our non profit, donation based model, S4GRU has no processor loading and data sucking ads.  Though we are a heavyweight web site in expertise and information, we are a lightweight web site on your CPU and data connection.  And we want to keep it that way.

But what about those web sites that rely upon Internet advertising for revenue to keep producing content?  As much as I dislike many of the heavy handed, auto loading ads, I do not want the sites that I frequently visit to fold for decline in revenue.  Do you?  If you visit the sites, you surely find that they have some value -- or you at least have an opinion on them.

I agree with this. So many people tell me to download add block on my computer but i dont see the point. I know some of these people are trying to make a living off these ads and 15 seconds of my life to watch a video or see an ad just isnt a big deal for me. If you truley like the content then an ad should be no big deal. The only exception are those annoying ads that are intentionally hard to x out of

I hate to be that way, but so many people were abusing the system that online blockers were necessary.

I tried this and it was one third the loading time with Crystal enabled.

And I tried it with LTE and not WiFi, because I wanted a sense of how this would work on mobile. I am seeing a lot less advertising from T-Mobile, Verizon, and Sprint (that doesn't even serve here in Chester as we know.)

Here's the Loop again and Dave Mark, his thoughts mirror mine.

I don't think adaptation will ever reach a level high enough to dent the online advertisement business. And if it does, I have zero remorse. They ruined it for themselves with tracking data, and constant pop-up ads. It's annoying, and very, very intrusive.

Shipping times slipped on the 128GB 6s Plus in Space Gray & Gold. The are now shipping 9/28-10/02.

The 6s is still set to launch by 9/25 for all versions. I cannot fathom as to why it is that the 6s is still set to be available for launch.

I only use content blockers to block annoying advertisements that are hard to get by/interfere with the functionality of the webpage. I white-list the sites that I visit often so as to not suck away the revenue they make when I visit.

This will be a long post from me, but a good one, I think. I've mentioned here quite a few times in the past about how I was an administrator on several website forums, along with being an owner on a few of them. Other than a few of the sites, most of them did not have any advertising on them at all. However, server hosting on those, except for one of the sites, were on shared hosting plans and were relatively inexpensive (only a few hundred dollars for a two year hosting deal). The last site was on a server my friend/co-owner of the site has a friend who gave the server to him for free. So again, no major costs involved.

Despite having experience with mostly inexpensive server hosting plans and the one server my friend had, though all involved dealing with annoying server issues and various set up issues which negatively interfered with the forum software. It was very annoying to deal with, which despite being financially inexpensive, it was very costly of time. At times it got so frustrating, I thought about the company cloud hosting plans which Invision Power Board offers, the same service which is used by S4GRU.

The problem was, despite having a good amount of members on the few sites I had considered using the Invision Power Board cloud hosting service for, I knew that the plan which would have been needed on these sites, again despite having a fairly strong membership base, just wasn't enough to depend on steady financial support from. I also knew I wasn't going to have advertisements, as I believe it isn't good to have advertising forced upon members.

I mention all of this, because I think about this and see my experience in contrast with S4GRU. I really appreciate how a site as specific as S4GRU is, since this site is designed as a site specifically focused only on a few things, Sprint and wireless technology relating to Sprint's network, is able to have such strong support from its membership. Most sites would need to be much more generalized to have even half of the membership support S4GRU has. This site works remarkably well with the system it has, which I'm surprised anyone would complain about this advertisement-free, membership-supported way of site survival.

Other tech sites using advertising looks awful in contrast to S4GRU. I understand why they do this, and there certainly is plenty of competition, which is why I think many of them ought to merge, particularly those which are so similar to each other. With enough viewership, they could offer inexpensive memberships, say $3.00 monthly, having forums and other features which would make having that membership be worthwhile and would finance the sites enough not to need advertisements. At least, I'd hope for such to be possible.

These sites could at least try taking the example of S4GRU.

Better supply. 2 weeks of Pre-Orders. Faster manufacturing. Those are my best guesses.

When do you guys think the sprint ordered phones will ship? What's been the experience in the past?

When I had preordered the iPhone 4s it had shipped out the week of release.

I was told by the temporary manager of my store that pre-orders will arrive on Thursday, and I'll be able to pick up my phone on Friday morning when the store opens. Of course, that's as long as my phone is for sure being shipped with the 9/25 pre-orders like it showed online up until yesterday.

I'm having mine delivered at my work. So I was just wondering when I could usually start tracking it.

2 to 3 days before is when the tracking information usually shows up.

The Verge/Vox/TechCrunch/etc shouldn't have a 7+ MB page weight, but they do because of trackers. I'm fine with Google Analytics - I rely on it professionally to perform click stream analysis and time on task - but the invasive trackers are what I want to block.

In short, I'm ok with advertisements - just not third party tracking. I've been a Ghostery user for a while because I want at least a sliver of control over my online privacy.

I'm not sure if it happens in other cities, but the cargo plane from overseas arrives at Chicago O'Hare, and is trucked with an escort to Lexington. Every phone I get from Sprint ships from there.

This is for anyone who ordered in store last year. Did you get a shipping confirmation for your iPhone 6/Plus order when it shipped from Kentucky to your store?

"Mission: Impossible -- The iHeist"

S4GRU has several truck drivers and plenty of Chicago area members.  You guys put together your crew, then get planning.

I did not Josh. I had to use the order information that was given to me to track shipping.

The order number I have on my receipt doesn't match any order format online. How do I convert it?

    • Since this is kind of the general chat thread, I have to share this humorous story (at least it is to me): Since around February/March of this year, my S22U has been an absolute pain to charge. USB-C cables would immediately fall out and it progressively got worse and worse until it often took me a number of minutes to get the angle of the cable juuuussst right to get charging to occur at all (not exaggerating). The connection was so weak that even walking heavily could cause the cable to disconnect. I tried cleaning out the port with a stable, a paperclip, etc. Some dust/lint/dirt came out but the connection didn't improve one bit. Needless to say, this was a MONSTER headache and had me hating this phone. I just didn't have the finances right now for a replacement.  Which brings us to the night before last. I am angry as hell because I had spent five minutes trying to get this phone to charge and failed. I am looking in the port and I notice it doesn't look right. The walls look rough and, using a staple, the back and walls feel REALLY rough and very hard. I get some lint/dust out with the staple and it improves charging in the sense I can get it to charge but it doesn't remove any of the hard stuff. It's late and it's charging, so that's enough for now. I decide it's time to see if that hard stuff is part of the connector or not. More aggressive methods are needed! I work in a biochem lab and we have a lot of different sizes of disposable needles available. So, yesterday morning, while in the lab I grab a few different sizes of needles between 26AWG and 31 AWG. When I got home, I got to work and start probing the connector with the 26 AWG and 31 AWG needle. The stuff feels extremely hard, almost like it was part of the connector, but a bit does break off. Under examination of the bit, it's almost sandy with dust/lint embedded in it. It's not part of the connector but instead some sort of rock-hard crap! That's when I remember that I had done some rock hounding at the end of last year and in January. This involved lots of digging in very sandy/dusty soils; soils which bare more than a passing resemblance to the crap in the connector. We have our answer, this debris is basically compacted/cemented rock dust. Over time, moisture in the area combined with the compression from inserting the USB-C connector had turned it into cement. I start going nuts chiseling away at it with the 26 AWG needle. After about 5-10 minutes of constant chiseling and scraping with the 26AWG and 31AWG needles, I see the first signs of metal at the back of the connector. So it is metal around the outsides! Another 5 minutes of work and I have scraped away pretty much all of the crap in the connector. A few finishing passes with the 31AWG needle, a blast of compressed air, and it is time to see if this helped any. I plug my regular USB-C cable and holy crap it clicks into place; it hasn't done that since February! I pick up the phone and the cable has actually latched! The connector works pretty much like it did over a year ago, it's almost like having a brand new phone!
    • That's odd, they are usually almost lock step with TMO. I forgot to mention this also includes the September Security Update.
    • 417.55 MB September security update just downloaded here for S24+ unlocked   Edit:  after Sept security update install, checked and found a 13MB GP System update as well.  Still showing August 1st there however.
    • T-Mobile is selling the rest of the 3.45GHz spectrum to Columbia Capital.
    • Still nothing for my AT&T and Visible phones.
