I wonder if any one can make an overlay of all the decommissioned Nextel site and remove all that already have Sprint on them and those already converted. Im dying to know which 1,100 sites are being converted now. I know of quite of few old nextel only sites that could be used to fill in some coverage gabs.

I actually have a non-redundant Nextel site map for my area, but it focuses mainly on Clearwire and any Nextel+Clearwire sites show up as just Clearwire.

 

A national map would be awesome!

Yep, I posted a list of the sites by cascade ID that are due microwave backhaul in the Premier sector of the forums.  If Robert would allow it to be posted in here I would copy and paste it.  

 

i missed that post, can you link it here for the time being so at least premier members can take a look at it, thanks!

I still think Project Ocean is a goofy name for IL/MO USCC conversions. Regardless of what they call it, I'm just happy to have the work in place for a really dense network experience around town. Here's hoping my office lands some B26 love and I can actually use my phone at my desk...

here is a local GMO site that was also a nextel site.  i posted this in another topic and was told that it looks like there is three nextel panels on it with one sprint.  are these the types of set ups that may be upgraded with this new program?

If it's already a GMO, then it is not part of the program. It will be upgraded as part of the GMO to full build project.

Will all GMO become full builds. There are four GMO's here in southern Cecil county MD that have just been sitting for ever no activity at all and still all legacy equipment. Sprint seems to have forgot about them. Pretty much everybody here is on Verizon or AT&T this proly is a factor.

Sprint filed frequency coordination  for hundreds of New Microwave paths last November covering Washington, Colorado, Iowa, Illinois and Ohio

 

Details of how to find these for Ohio would be most welcome.  Please post  details over here.

I certainly hope that any plans to acquire nTelos (either directly or through partner Shentel) is part of this!

 

Aaaarrrgghh!

 

From a purely financial resource perspective, I hope they let would Shentel carry that weight.

The source said Sprint's new network plan will have a mix of dual-band and tri-band sites because in some rural markets Sprint will not be deploying 2.5 GHz radios and antennas. The company plans to densify its network through both macro cell sites and small cells. According to the source, Sprint plans to keep the 10,000 former Clearwire towers. About 7,000 of those sites now support TD-LTE but do not have CDMA radios. Part of the new plan involves adding CDMA to some of these sites.

      Definite usage quirks in hunting down these sites with a rainbow sim in a s24 ultra. Fell into a hole yesterday so sent off to T-Mobile purgatory. Try my various techniques. No Dish. Get within binocular range of former Sprint colocation and can see Dish equipment. Try to manually set network and everybody but no Dish is listed.  Airplane mode, restart, turn on and off sim, still no Dish. Pull upto 200ft from site straight on with antenna.  Still no Dish. Get to manual network hunting again on phone, power off phone for two minutes. Finally see Dish in manual network selection and choose it. Great signal as expected. I still think the 15 minute rule might work but lack patience. (With Sprint years ago, while roaming on AT&T, the phone would check for Sprint about every fifteen minutes. So at highway speed you could get to about the third Sprint site before roaming would end). Using both cellmapper and signalcheck.net maps to hunt down these sites. Cellmapper response is almost immediate these days (was taking weeks many months ago).  Their idea of where a site can be is often many miles apart. Of course not the same dataset. Also different ideas as how to label a site, but sector details can match with enough data (mimo makes this hard with its many sectors). Dish was using county spacing in a flat suburban area, but is now denser in a hilly richer suburban area.  Likely density of customers makes no difference as a poorer urban area with likely more Dish customers still has country spacing of sites.

      Mike if you need more Dish data, I have been hunting down sites in western Columbus.  So far just n70 and n71 reporting although I CA all three.

      Good catch! I meant 115932/119932. Edited my original post I've noticed the same thing lately and have just assumed that they're skipping it now because they're finally able to deploy mmWave small cells.
