I checked the coverage map this morning for SoCal and noticed that Las Vegas, the small LA suburb to the east, has been wiped off the map in terms of LTE coverage. I guess somebody put the network up in a gamble :rasp:

But seriously, I guess Sprint's updated coverage map, seems to have lost some markets (as of 6:30am PST 10/3)

Rockford,IL is not a spark market anymore and even sprint announced that. Looks like someone messed up in the update or something

I know they were doing some site maintenance last night or the night before. They're probably getting everything back up to what it was.

Anyone note, the coverage map does not entirely suck and does not refresh every single time you scroll. Instead it preloads it as you move it. Progress!

 

Now it just sorta sucks! :P

The map is usable on my M8. No more need for using the arrows to find a location. Much easier and already improved. So far its smooth for me.

Cincinnati, Columbus, Cleveland, DC.....a ton of massive metro areas.  Must be a fluke.  Hopefully they get it fixed.  Cincinnati was also a spark market as well and any negative misconceptions on the part of the customer based on this map would be very unfortunate!  Sprint's PR battle is already very much uphill....no need for them to step on their own feet and make it worse.  Sheesh.

Finally, triband devices are showing roaming data now on the map. I wish that the map was bigger too though and that the coverage was a bit more accurate.

 

another thing worth noting is that Alaska coverage is listed as native 3G on their map. That needs to be fixed.

Called Sprint about it and the first rep actually told me that San Jose or Las Vegas are only 3G cities. Guess he used the same map I have online. Supervisor had a good laugh when asked if we are no longer LTE worthy :lol:, It looks like I was the first to "complain" about the updated maps.

another thing worth noting is that Alaska coverage is listed as native 3G on their map. That needs to be fixed.

 

I always liked the Clear coverage maps. Large, running on Google Maps, with the tower locations etc. Just nice incl. a nice color to read.

I received a message.  Apparently the new maps were used with static data when they were creating them.  When it was decided to go with the new maps, there was not a map refresh done before going live.  They are scrambling to correct this.  Someone has egg on their face.  Because lots of people make buying decisions based on this map.

 

They may revert back to the old maps temporarily until they can figure this out.  What a mess.

Hopefully whoever is looking goes closer than the 2nd level zoom which shows the entire country, roaming included as 3G only :o

 

Also, it still doesn't appear that they have accounted for iDEN conversions yet which, in some cases, has filled in quite a few coverage holes

St Louis has Spark because when i was downtown by the arch I was getting 60mbs consistently BUt it is not wide spread you can walk over a coule block and may not lose B41 but it has a significant drop in data speed around 25 Mbs.

 

Almost all of Central Illinois lost its data

If you see Robert's post earlier, this is an old map version. All the launches from the last several months were lost. They're working on a fix.

      Definite usage quirks in hunting down these sites with a rainbow sim in a s24 ultra. Fell into a hole yesterday so sent off to T-Mobile purgatory. Try my various techniques. No Dish. Get within binocular range of former Sprint colocation and can see Dish equipment. Try to manually set network and everybody but no Dish is listed.  Airplane mode, restart, turn on and off sim, still no Dish. Pull upto 200ft from site straight on with antenna.  Still no Dish. Get to manual network hunting again on phone, power off phone for two minutes. Finally see Dish in manual network selection and choose it. Great signal as expected. I still think the 15 minute rule might work but lack patience. (With Sprint years ago, while roaming on AT&T, the phone would check for Sprint about every fifteen minutes. So at highway speed you could get to about the third Sprint site before roaming would end). Using both cellmapper and signalcheck.net maps to hunt down these sites. Cellmapper response is almost immediate these days (was taking weeks many months ago).  Their idea of where a site can be is often many miles apart. Of course not the same dataset. Also different ideas as how to label a site, but sector details can match with enough data (mimo makes this hard with its many sectors). Dish was using county spacing in a flat suburban area, but is now denser in a hilly richer suburban area.  Likely density of customers makes no difference as a poorer urban area with likely more Dish customers still has country spacing of sites.

      Mike if you need more Dish data, I have been hunting down sites in western Columbus.  So far just n70 and n71 reporting although I CA all three.

      Good catch! I meant 115932/119932. Edited my original post I've noticed the same thing lately and have just assumed that they're skipping it now because they're finally able to deploy mmWave small cells.
