I've had 3 restarts since I did this, so I guess it didn't work for me.

Could just be that the ram on your phone is going bad. I had to replace mine a couple months back because it was just rebooting constantly.  Always seemed random and the app I was using didn't seem to matter.

I've thought about doing a replacement, but I've had this phone since new. I have almost always had problems with refurbs so I'm trying to hold out.

Was it always doing reboots or is it just since the marshmallow update?

Just since the update to marshmallow, that's why I don't really think it's hardware related. I've done a factory reset and it didn't fix it.

I can tell you what I figured out.  After the marshmallow update I set up encryption on my phone and mine would inevitably reboot about once a day after it was sitting for a while and I would pick it up and hit the home button.  I think I finally figured out that Doze was putting the fingerprint reader and security processes into deep sleep. So whenever I went to wake up the phone once it was out for a while it would go a bit crazy trying to wake up and re-authenticate the security settings.  I went into the battery settings and turned off battery optimization for all of the apps that seemed like they were security related.  Since then my phone hasn't done a reboot since.

So even if you don't have encryption turned on or use the finger print reader you might want to check that out.  Maybe turn off doze for every app and see how that goes.  Then add doze back one app at a time.

I just turned off the battery optimizations. I'll run it for a few days like this and see what happens. Thanks for the tip.

Now I'm having an issue the last week+ or so that my Note 4 has just shut off by itself even when sitting idle on a table. Guess I'll try a new battery.

Just finished installing it. Hopefully it'll fix my restart issue. It's not been terrible. Usually once or twice a day, but it's still annoying when it happens.

Thats pretty extreme... im telling you you should do factory restore..and if it still persists. Its hardware issue

After the initial Marshmallow update, I did a factory reset. I just don't want to pay to get a replacement. I may break down and do it at some point though.

Mine still restarts randomly after a replacement note 4 from sprint. Initial replacement was due to hardware failure but seems like it can be both

My phone just downloaded a new software update.  Where can I look to see what it is supposed to do for my phone?  Sprint forums didn't seem to help.

For that matter is this the number I need to search on--   n910pvpu4dpe1    ?

It gives the improvements on the software install prompt.  This one was security as well as fixing WiFi bugs.

jreuschl - and I was mostly asleep when that rolled by.  Is there anyway to see that, or a comparable, listing now- post install?

    • Definite usage quirks in hunting down these sites with a rainbow sim in a s24 ultra. Fell into a hole yesterday so sent off to T-Mobile purgatory. Try my various techniques. No Dish. Get within binocular range of former Sprint colocation and can see Dish equipment. Try to manually set network and everybody but no Dish is listed.  Airplane mode, restart, turn on and off sim, still no Dish. Pull upto 200ft from site straight on with antenna.  Still no Dish. Get to manual network hunting again on phone, power off phone for two minutes. Finally see Dish in manual network selection and choose it. Great signal as expected. I still think the 15 minute rule might work but lack patience. (With Sprint years ago, while roaming on AT&T, the phone would check for Sprint about every fifteen minutes. So at highway speed you could get to about the third Sprint site before roaming would end). Using both cellmapper and signalcheck.net maps to hunt down these sites. Cellmapper response is almost immediate these days (was taking weeks many months ago).  Their idea of where a site can be is often many miles apart. Of course not the same dataset. Also different ideas as how to label a site, but sector details can match with enough data (mimo makes this hard with its many sectors). Dish was using county spacing in a flat suburban area, but is now denser in a hilly richer suburban area.  Likely density of customers makes no difference as a poorer urban area with likely more Dish customers still has country spacing of sites.
    • Mike if you need more Dish data, I have been hunting down sites in western Columbus.  So far just n70 and n71 reporting although I CA all three.
    • Good catch! I meant 115932/119932. Edited my original post I've noticed the same thing lately and have just assumed that they're skipping it now because they're finally able to deploy mmWave small cells.
