Band 7. Not sure what operators use it but certainly none around here. And there can't be that many that use both 7 and 17.

It's hard to say. Last we heard, Sprint and Motorola stated that the 2014 Moto X won't be coming to Sprint.

That's the answer they gave me when I contact them about the nexus 6. I believe that rep has the two mixed up.

Maybe this opens up the possibility of white listing this device on Sprint considering they basically are a Sprint MVNO.

Hmmmm...  If this somehow does make its way to Sprint then I would be grabbing this over the N6 I think...  Interesting.

Not going to get my hopes up, but maybe I'll hold onto my iPhone 6 a while longer.

I think AJ may have been onto something with his comment located in the wall post:

No, it is not a typographical error.

The LTE band table is just an illustration and comes from the Part 22/24/27 test documents.  In FCC regulations, those three parts cover Cellular 850 MHz, PCS 1900 MHz, AWS-1 1700+2100 MHz, Lower 700 MHz, and BRS/EBS 2600 MHz.

Note the absence of SMR 800 MHz, which falls under Part 90.  For that reason, band 26 typically has two sets of test results -- the Cellular 850 MHz segment under Part 22 and the SMR 800 MHz segment under Part 90.  The former is depicted in the aforementioned LTE band table.

But I found something interesting this morning.  I checked the separate Part 90 test and noticed that the results were for band class 10 CDMA2000 only.  In other words, this 2014 Moto X variant was not tested for the SMR segment of band 26, or those test results were not submitted to the FCC.  And there is possibly the smoking gun -- the reason why this variant is reportedly not headed to Sprint.

I went to Republic Wireless' site and went to the technical specs comparison between the Moto X 1st gen and 2 gen.  Attached I have a screenshot showing the difference in the network specs.  Long story short, it looks like CDMA in the SMR 800 range isn't supported:

Further more, if you look at the page with just the Moto X 2nd gen specs it shows:

so it looks like it would be the "Sprint" variant that they are using - if it ever was released to Sprint that is.

No, probably not.  As I recall, I dug deeper and ultimately found the Part 90 SMR portion of the band 26 test results.  For some strange reason, they were not disclosed right away but buried dozens, if not hundreds of pages into the FCC OET filing.

If someone is able to get the new Moto X whitelisted on Sprint, I would consider picking one of these up to replace my Nexus 5.  I just can't get excited about the N6.

According to a (supposed) Republic Wireless employee, they are in fact using the IHDT56QA3

variant.  He said the model number was XT1094.

S4GRU staff could be incorrect, but that is not the model number we projected.  We paired the FCC ID IHDT56QA3 with the model number XT1092.  I would not be surprised if Republic is using a regional operator variant, not the originally expected Sprint variant.

Out of curiosity, how did you arrive at XT1092 as the model number?  I saw that mentioned in the S4GRU article, but I couldn't find any other evidence of that model number corresponding to IHDT56QA3 online.  Is there some system/scheme involved for mapping them?

Edit: Also, wouldn't it be possible that they're still using IHDT56QA3, but they just gave it a new model number (XT1094) to reflect the fact that Republic Wireless-specific firmware is used?

Honestly, I do not recall how we came to that determination.  It was several months ago, and staff routinely has to wade through MBs or even GBs of info.  We are correct about 95 percent of the time, but we may not be correct this time.

So the republic wireless phone would be unable to use any of the 800 band technology and Can only use the 1900

Networks

Cellular (Sprint): CDMA/EVDO Rev A (850, 1900 MHz), 4G LTE (B12, B25, B26, B41)

Acoording to Tech Specs from WR.

    • Definite usage quirks in hunting down these sites with a rainbow sim in a s24 ultra. Fell into a hole yesterday so sent off to T-Mobile purgatory. Try my various techniques. No Dish. Get within binocular range of former Sprint colocation and can see Dish equipment. Try to manually set network and everybody but no Dish is listed.  Airplane mode, restart, turn on and off sim, still no Dish. Pull upto 200ft from site straight on with antenna.  Still no Dish. Get to manual network hunting again on phone, power off phone for two minutes. Finally see Dish in manual network selection and choose it. Great signal as expected. I still think the 15 minute rule might work but lack patience. (With Sprint years ago, while roaming on AT&T, the phone would check for Sprint about every fifteen minutes. So at highway speed you could get to about the third Sprint site before roaming would end). Using both cellmapper and signalcheck.net maps to hunt down these sites. Cellmapper response is almost immediate these days (was taking weeks many months ago).  Their idea of where a site can be is often many miles apart. Of course not the same dataset. Also different ideas as how to label a site, but sector details can match with enough data (mimo makes this hard with its many sectors). Dish was using county spacing in a flat suburban area, but is now denser in a hilly richer suburban area.  Likely density of customers makes no difference as a poorer urban area with likely more Dish customers still has country spacing of sites.
    • Mike if you need more Dish data, I have been hunting down sites in western Columbus.  So far just n70 and n71 reporting although I CA all three.
    • Good catch! I meant 115932/119932. Edited my original post I've noticed the same thing lately and have just assumed that they're skipping it now because they're finally able to deploy mmWave small cells.
