Mobile Broadband Plans Easy Pay Discount

Today I noticed that certain Mobile Broadband plans are getting a small discount ($8.50/mo) if you buy your device on Easy Pay.

 

3GB $26.49 after discount

6GB $41.49 after discount

12GB $71.49 after discount

30GB $101.49 after discount

 

It seems like the 3GB plan is an excellent deal for a hotspot plan if someone needs one.

 

The disclaimer is that the discount can take up to 3 months to show up on bill.

These are slightly better! 2 people on a Framily plan makes it 111.49 before taxes with unlimited talk and text unlimited+6gb of tethering as it currently stands for my line. Which is better than the My way All in plan, getting a full 1gb more.

This is pretty nice. Including discount I can end up with the livepro I've been trying to buy in store for a few weeks now for about $50 less than the two year subsidized price including this discount.

The way I see it, they are giving a discount for having an easy pay payment plan to help offset the additional monthly cost. Just like they had originally when they launched easy pay you got the $15 per month discount from your unlimited my way plan, but only while you still had the device payment plan going.

But it's not really a discount. It just balanced out the payment. His service would not be cheaper with the discount. Once you add back in the ez pay payment. It pretty much is a wash.

So the question becomes, what happens to the discount after your easy pay is completed. It's not stated anywhere on the page.

 

Assuming the discount remains active after the easy pay, then simply 'buy' a new device on a new plan with easy pay, cancel your existing plan, sell the existing or new device, pay off the new device easy pay early. Boom! discounted data with no easy pay!

 

But if the discount is removed after easy pay is completed, /shrug.

 

In any case, as already mentioned, existing mobile broadband customers are 'getting the shaft'!

Right, the base plan costs include device subsidy.

 

Paying for device subsidy + easy pay = paying double for the device.

 

If you already have paid for a device, you are still paying the base costs including device subsidy.

 

You only get the subsidy discount, if you pay for the device with easy pay.

If they are still under a subsidized contract, then I would not expect a discount.

 

Where I would expect a discount of the subsidy is when;

a) you buy a new device outright

you already completed your subsidized contract and continue to use your now paid off device

I see what you're saying. That does make sense, maybe with all the new plans coming out they will revamp mobile broadband as well to fix this.
