Oh Verizon! SMH!

https://www.theverge.com/2017/7/20/16005426/netflix-verizon-data-speeds-cap-net-neutrality

Even with these shenanigans they are still seeing speeds take a big hit after the UDP.

Haha, I saw on twitter earlier neville ray posted about how T-Mobile is the only network that can handle unlimited data, like huh *cough* Sprint has more spectrum than you and AT$T or Verizon. If any network can handle unlimited data it's Sprint.

It is a great move for the urban NYC market. Sprint has a strong network in the inner boroughs and might as well capitalize on that to shore up subscriber numbers. For those tri-staters outside the city, hopefully it will translate into suburban improvements.

Favorite part, *Millennials Agree*

Oh lawdy.

lol The Verge writer Natt Garun (a millennial from Maspeth) didn't like the fact the video and article say its in Flushing instead of Maspeth and also that it mocks millennials/ lol Either way its one awesome funny video.

So who's driving to Maspeth today to chech it out. If you do take pics. lol

The funny thing is that when I went inside the store the guy was dressed in your typical Verizon outfit/uniform and this was the convo between us as I was taking pics inside the store...

TTP guy "Can I help you with anything?"

Me: "Oh, no thanks, I'm just checking the place. Great marketing btw".

TTP guy: "What do you mean" (at this point i caught that he was staying in character) lol

me: "I like the look. How long are you going to be open till." (knowing its only for a day)

TTP guy: "For as long as the customers keep coming in. Hopefully I can pass the business down to my kids"

me: I start laughing like crazy

TTP guy: Are you okay.

me: "Yeah"  barely audible since I'm still laughing.

then outside, one of the Sprint folks/marketer took my pic and asked me to sign the form that said I may show up in future advertising as a background. I should have held up a sign saying "S4GRU WAS HERE" when he took my pic lol

I guess Guenther got there after I had left the place. I would have love to met him.

Good to see Marcelo push the small cell agenda and get some positive results.

Holy crap I didn't even know this was happening. So glad that it is!

Good story about Magic Boxes:

http://newsroom.sprint.com/sprint-magic-box-poplar-grove.htm

To close the deal, Sprint included a Magic Box at each school's main entrance.

Mr. Rudolph had this to say:

“I wish everyone had a Sprint Magic Box,” Rudolph said. “In fact, Sprint should just package them up with their phones – it would create a big powerful network.”

Sprint ended last quarter with 59.7 million connections: 31.6 million postpaid, 12.0 million prepaid, and 16.1 million wholesale and affiliate connections.

Marcelo did say "millions of units":

"Carriers have traditionally been shy about mentioning signal boosters because they're a tacit admission that network coverage can be spotty. But Sprint said it will likely be more proactive in pushing these boxes because they offer a benefit to the customer and the surrounding area. Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure said he expects to ship millions of the units over the next few years."

The more the merrier in my opinion. Eventually the unit cost will drop to a relative pittance.

Trying to get through it. Looks like the law allows any ROW small cell to go through expedited permitting as long as it's at or below 50' AGL. (It's actually 60' because the telecom equipment can extend up to 10 feet above the physical pole.) This means the city can't impose any permit requirements on top of what they already require of other utilities and the permits are actually approved by default if the city doesn't issue a denial after 45 days.

There's also a weird limit on batch permitting. The mass-permit batches can't contain more than 25 sites.

So I guess as long as Mobilitie can dial their 70' poles down to 50', we're all good.

Also looks like cities can't require permits for same-size equipment upgrades down the line either.

I don't have anything nice to say about this but I'll post it anyway. It could be beneficial though. https://seekingalpha.com/news/3280627-report-softbanks-son-mulls-massive-stake-uber?uprof=60&dr=1#/email_link

This was the unreleased Motorola device that was "under wraps" during Sprint's Gigabit LTE demonstration in New Orleans, LA.

I was under the impression the HTC U11 was a Gigabit LTE handset.

I was under the impression the HTC U11 was a Gigabit LTE handset.

I was gonna ask the same question.

Maybe its more of a firmware thing.

I'd be willing to bet this ends up being one of the best radio performers on Sprint, considering they used it as a reference device and probably optimized the snot out of it.

    • Was able to install the March 1 Android security patch. Seems slightly more accurate with 5g ca band id, but can not swear by it. Updated google play system update through the software information screen to March 1. *#73# still works. Froze updates waiting on SCP update beta to fix n41 showing as n38.
    • Just installed it. Thanks for the info.  71 mb mar 1st date.
    • There's a permit for a new 47 story building at 205 Montague St in Downtown Brooklyn. The problem is that  T-Mobile eNB 48352 is on the building next door and this new building will block two out of 3 sectors of the site. For reference, the new building will be roughly as tall as 16 Court St which is right across the street. This site is the primary site covering Cadman Plaza so I wonder what the plan is. Will they just try to change sector placement, move to a different building, or will this just speed up the conversion of the Sprint site at 25 Monroe Place?
    • At least not recently.  I think I might have seen this a year ago.  Not Sure.
    • Did they previously hop between n38 and n41 in prior version of SCP, or have you always seen n41 displayed properly?
