Hartford, Bridgeport, New haven, Meriden, Hamden, Clinton, new Britain, Manchester. The areas in and around the casinos. A spot here and there may be great. Too often cell sites too far apart, maps not accurately reflecting coverage.

 

Here is an excellent work-around if these areas are important to you:

Maybe part of the results of PCMag was the S8.. But I wonder why isn't Sprint thoroughly testing devices in their network to make sure they are always hanging on to B41 the best they can? The issue with the S8 has been known for a while to S4GRU owners but not Sprint? I guess it doesn't surprise me because it seemed like the HTC Bolt (which seemed to be billed as the Sprint device to get) wasn't anything special network wise.

I'm certain if B41 was set to #1 the results would have been better, how better exactly? well I don't know but they would have been better.

I was under the assumption device band priority was only for initial scan and that the network would then move the device to different bands. Is that no longer the case?

Frustration leads to nay saying. Quit spending Money and Time on useless things and expand the network to all areas as previously promised many times and never delivered!!!

 

Last word I received from Sprint is that there are no plans currently to upgrade the towers I use at home and work. If it isn't better with either a Magic Box or by the time T-Mobile finishes their upgrades here I will have to consider changing services after over 15 years.

So you'll leave T-Mobile for not supporting one of their services on your device for a network that doesn't offer the service at all? I mean, it's your money, but it sounds like cutting off your nose to spite your face.

I don't have access to even setup Digits, which is the problem. Digits requires an app to setup, which only is available on Android and iOS.

 

As I mentioned a few weeks ago when I had first announced my disappointment in Digits, I don't have any problem with T-Mobile making the Digits app only available for Android and iOS, as I completely understand their decision to focus on the mainstream, popular mobile operating systems. I don't even believe it is necessary for them to make an app for Digits on the Microsoft OS.

 

The complaint I have, is that T-Mobile doesn't serve Digits the same way as they do for T-Mobile Tuesdays and the MyT-Mobile app. Both of those can be accessed by going online. Digits requires an app.

If this happens, it is not a band priority issues, it is a radio issue. Band priority only affects the initial radio scan, after that it is up to the network and the signal level on the device.

The replacement (or just upgrade?) of GMO sites is well underway in Maine these days after several years of all but neglecting us up here.  I guess I need to eat crow after being so skeptical of that announcement late last year of the huge push to upgrade all remaining sites.  The pace they are moving is surprising.  The number of new sites in each of the last two weekly updates shows that.  I had to go for a ride today and I found 3 more sites that have not yet even made the updates here but are now broadcasting band 25.

 

My question now is...what is being upgraded at these sites?  If memory serves, it is just base station equipment?  They do not have to go up the tower at all as the antennas can already broadcast band 25?  Finally, how fast can a site be knocked out?  1 per day?

AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon don't have it at all. You're not solving any problem here.

I realize they don't have Digits. Yet, it doesn't make sense to pay for something you don't have access to. Most of the time I can't even get the flash intro on the T-Mobile Tuesdays website to work at all either, leaving me unable to get that. So, as everyone has their own reasons for switching carriers, these are mine.

 

Now I do know leaving T-Mobile for something else much more expensive without getting Digits, etc. wouldn't be a smart move, which is why with AT&T now they are not offering Freelancer Union discounts, isn't a good option for me, as I found out yesterday.

 

Yet, one line with a smartwatch line is $90 at Verizon, a small bit more expensive than T-Mobile, but with a better network. Sprint with two lines for $90 is a good deal here in Chicago, where Sprint is actively involved with the network here and with increased PCS in areas without band 41, shouldn't be as bad when it was limited to 5x5 around here.

I think all of the GMOs up here had the backhaul run to them at the start of network vision.  Isnt that what the 3G upgrade pin meant?  Plus, the ones I tried all had sub 100ms ping times, most under 60 ms on EVDO.  If memory serves correctly, sub 100 ms pings meant enhanced backhaul was in place for LTE even if it wasnt broadcasting yet.  Correct?

3G pins meant the equipment was upgraded. Not backhaul.

 

~100ms ping is the result of much much better eNB and router / switch equipment.

I am not Bitching, I am giving my opinion. So, I can't say that I am frustrated with them spending money on other items instead of their network is frustrating? Many have had similar post and opinion that the Radio Shack, Pokémon, Tidal etc. was money that could of been used to improve the network. That is not the same as saying Sprint Sucks or other negative comments that we all see on many other sites.

 

I have been with Sprint long time and recommended them to many friends and family over the years. While I can no longer do that to anyone in my area, I just last month had a family of 5 switch to sprint in my old hometown of Indianapolis based on my recommendation and example of how good the service was there.

 

I have supported this site from the day I found it (while searching for info concerning switching) and became a supporting member. I have continued to support the site as best I can including participating in the raffles or other fund raising events when you post them.

 

No I do not have a large post count on the site as that is not my area of expertise, that knowledge as to the wireless frequencies, equipment, etc. is better left to many here that are. But I didn't join the site to provide that information, I joined it to learn more about Sprint and wireless service, I have done that. In fact if it wasn't for this site I would of most likely regrettably have switched providers years ago. But due to the knowledge learned here and the hopes it developed for Sprint I didn't. But that was then and the information on the site is still great but the lack of upgrading towers near me isn't. I roam on Verizon every day unless I am outside or sitting next to the right window at work.

 

If you think I am Bitching, that is your Opinion, and I was just giving mine. It is your website you have the right to do whatever you choose and I respect that.

If I don't end up switching by the time the LG G6+ ends up being released in the U.S. next month, then perhaps I won't end up switching. I went to a Sprint store to take a look at the HTC U11, which really is a nice device, still somewhat regret cancelling my preorder. Unfortunately for my mother's line, they told us their Samsung Gear 3 smartwatch isn't LTE and calling compatible, only Bluetooth.

 

That is an advantage Verizon has for her line with the Wear24 and Watch Sport options. She isn't good at using Android at all, so she needs something very simple. Apple is a good option for her, but we're waiting on the iPhone OLED model.

This is one thing I'm keeping in mind about switching, that is a serious consideration in dealing with the issues in the meanwhile, as a Sprint/T-Mobile network locked in at the same lower rate is an amazing deal. If T-Mobile were to raise those rates on current customers though, then many will get very upset, something I'm not sure T-Mobile would do.

It is my site, thanks for acknowledging and respecting that.  Your post in question was not constructive IMO.  It was complain-y.  As we often say, we don't host complaints.  The thread was starting to go sideways in negativity.  So I'm interjecting.  You just happen to be the subject of the discussion because of timing and your interjection.  But it was meant for everyone's edification. 

 

It's OK that people disagree with Sprint.  Don't like Sprint.  Think Marcelo is a turkey...whatever.  And sometimes I'm even nodding my head behind the computer screen.  But this site won't host it.  I will let it go to some extent, until the piggy backing of complaining starts.  Complaints breeding complaints.  Negativity breeding negativity.  The pile on, so to speak.  We've seen the negativity destroy other Sprint sites.  We've watched it happen time and time again.  Without moderation, the negativity takes over and no one wants to be here.  Our moderation of negativity and trolling is what has kept us around now for over 5 years.  

 

So we will keep doing our thing, unapologetically.  Nothing personal.  Thanks for understanding.

Making public threats -- whether idle or real -- about leaving Sprint qualifies as bitching.  Leave or stay, do not post that you are thinking of porting out unless Sprint does this or that.  Nobody wants to read that crap.

 

And if you do decide to leave, definitely do not post that you are dropping Sprint, then tack on some trite addendum that you "still really want Sprint to succeed."  Nothing could be further from the truth -- because you are voting with your wallet against Sprint success.
