First time seeing this pop up on Facebook. Hopefully Sprint's digital team is micro targeting markets all over with favorable RootMetrics results. Anyone else seeing this in their markets?

Dare we look at the comments on that post? I'm sure people are saying I used Sprint 3 years ago with a top of the line EVO 4G and it sucked.. lies!!!

Sprint was that boyfriend or girlfriend that was "the one" and sprint cheated on them and now they can't move on and love again. They still have scars.

For laughs only

That's exactly why a co-worker moved from Sprint to Verizon: he bought a WiMax phone and never got 4G so now he happily pays way more for 4 lines on Verizon.

Laugh but there are many in that situation; Sprint lost them for a few years at least.

I agree and sadly people only base things off their past experiences. WiMAX wasn't everywhere. I had the evo 4g and I only had 4g when I was home from school but up on campus and in my dorm I had nothing but 3G. The service sucked but I couldn't complain cause my parents was paying my phone bill. Call and text was fine it was just the data which was a hit or miss

Or some kind of hey check out our service program they can come up with. So how would they know if things have changed. I agree 100%

Louis Maximus:  Cut the crap.  Your incessant trolling for Magenta is a major pain in the ass.  You insert it into virtually every topic you enter.  Your quoted comment above adds absolutely nothing to the topic being discussed, but then that is a very common thread which weaves through the vast majority of your posts at S4GRU.  I frankly don't give a #### how much you like TMo.  I am here to increase my knowledge about Sprint, not to listen to babbling idiots spout the same irrelevant complaints over and over and over again.  Go away.

I didn't listen, hopefully someone did...

Recording posted now...going to try to listen to it.

EDIT:

My notes on CFO conference speech...

Biggest 1st Quarter highlight: CHURN

  *Factors improving churn

    *Tighter credit standards

*"Network doing so much better now"

*65% growth in "prime" customers from last year 1st quarter

    *2x20 Carrier Aggregation being deployed

*Going to take time to get to other carriers

*One Rate plans are proving to be successful

*Confident in ability to continue positive net-adds

*Half of all new adds installment or lease

*1/3 of new adds are lease (so greater than installment)

*HUGE cost savings on CAPEX side with Software relationship. Gear costs lower. Better than their competitors.

*Net port positive is staying consistent

NETWORK Discussion

*800 Voice done (we knew this)

*LTE800 will be done by end of year (we knew this)

*2.5 is full steam ahead...look at "speed awards" to see where it is being deployed

*Continue to spend capital to enhance network

Question to CFO: "Do you need additional low band spectrum?"

CFO: "Knowing we have wifi layer for calling, given the 800 will be complete...it gives you a reason to ask if we really need the low band"

CFO: "Timing of low band auction will impact whether we participate in it"

(side bar: lame update overall)

That better? I gave a real example about a former coworker no longer on sprint because of the WiMAX rollout. Seems relevant. And on topic to the comment which I originally quoted.

I didn't really like the idea of sprint not showing up to the 600 auction. That would be short sighted of them. Does sprint need addition low band spectrum? Yes, yes it does. Can sprint afford to let competitors gain access to addition low band spectrum while they don't? No, no the can't.

I don't think Sprint will actively sit out the auction, perhaps people reading too much into it?

They may not have any financial backing from Softbank, so they're answering in the most vague way possible to prevent stock holders/customers from becoming upset.  I'd say Sprint should bid on spectrum in locations that need work (there's a handful of markets where 600Mhz would benefit Sprint.)

I think it's that Sprint doesn't want to have to bid on it alone.  The price of the most recent auction has probably scared them a little. They tried to get the FCC to approve a joint bid with T-Mo and I think are still trying to work out a joint bidding arrangement with the rural carriers. I think they would like to have 600 spectrum so long as they don't have to foot the entire bill.

Seems like a good place for softb to invest more $

So what if Sprint didn't participate in the 600mhz auction, not the end of the world. Nothing magical about the band. Not like you going to have the transmission capabilities of a TV station doing kilowatts to transmit the signal. Than there is the possibility of might be a wash since that frequency range is more prone to sporadic-e layer than 800 or 700.

I think if Sprint can densify some areas, the 600Mhz spectrum won't really matter much. Densification might be cheaper than bidding on that lowband stuff...lol. I know in Baltimore, even areas with LTE800 on several towers in a row, I switch to 3G while driving alot still...so sure, 600 might help...but I'd rather see more towers on their existing spectrum than just new antennas.

I would like to see Sprint at least bid on a nationwide 5x5 600mhz band. If they don't bid on any 600 spectrum. Sprint still has PCS spectrum that can be refarmed for LTE use plus the 2.5 spectrum.

Sprint is weak on low band spectrum. It has to be cheaper to add 600 to existing towers rather than densifying their network to match Volte to their CDMA network not to mention expanding their foot print with their existing spectrum portfolio.

That's right. Sprint would be wise to use 600MHz for VoLTE. One B26 LTE carrier will not be enough to supply all the far range voice and LTE data outside the B25/B41 coverage.

I felt like he was talking non sense saying they don't need to go to the 600 auction. 800mhz can be brought to its knees with relative ease. 2500 will take much longer to deploy. He said WiFi was everywhere and I had to laugh. Walmart doesn't even have WiFi and there are so many places where WiFi is locked or you have to ask for the password. Its just not as convenient as your own home network yet. If Sprint for some reason decided not to get in that auction I will be very concerned.

    • Since this is kind of the general chat thread, I have to share this humorous story (at least it is to me): Since around February/March of this year, my S22U has been an absolute pain to charge. USB-C cables would immediately fall out and it progressively got worse and worse until it often took me a number of minutes to get the angle of the cable juuuussst right to get charging to occur at all (not exaggerating). The connection was so weak that even walking heavily could cause the cable to disconnect. I tried cleaning out the port with a stable, a paperclip, etc. Some dust/lint/dirt came out but the connection didn't improve one bit. Needless to say, this was a MONSTER headache and had me hating this phone. I just didn't have the finances right now for a replacement.  Which brings us to the night before last. I am angry as hell because I had spent five minutes trying to get this phone to charge and failed. I am looking in the port and I notice it doesn't look right. The walls look rough and, using a staple, the back and walls feel REALLY rough and very hard. I get some lint/dust out with the staple and it improves charging in the sense I can get it to charge but it doesn't remove any of the hard stuff. It's late and it's charging, so that's enough for now. I decide it's time to see if that hard stuff is part of the connector or not. More aggressive methods are needed! I work in a biochem lab and we have a lot of different sizes of disposable needles available. So, yesterday morning, while in the lab I grab a few different sizes of needles between 26AWG and 31 AWG. When I got home, I got to work and start probing the connector with the 26 AWG and 31 AWG needle. The stuff feels extremely hard, almost like it was part of the connector, but a bit does break off. Under examination of the bit, it's almost sandy with dust/lint embedded in it. It's not part of the connector but instead some sort of rock-hard crap! That's when I remember that I had done some rock hounding at the end of last year and in January. This involved lots of digging in very sandy/dusty soils; soils which bare more than a passing resemblance to the crap in the connector. We have our answer, this debris is basically compacted/cemented rock dust. Over time, moisture in the area combined with the compression from inserting the USB-C connector had turned it into cement. I start going nuts chiseling away at it with the 26 AWG needle. After about 5-10 minutes of constant chiseling and scraping with the 26AWG and 31AWG needles, I see the first signs of metal at the back of the connector. So it is metal around the outsides! Another 5 minutes of work and I have scraped away pretty much all of the crap in the connector. A few finishing passes with the 31AWG needle, a blast of compressed air, and it is time to see if this helped any. I plug my regular USB-C cable and holy crap it clicks into place; it hasn't done that since February! I pick up the phone and the cable has actually latched! The connector works pretty much like it did over a year ago, it's almost like having a brand new phone!
    • That's odd, they are usually almost lock step with TMO. I forgot to mention this also includes the September Security Update.
    • 417.55 MB September security update just downloaded here for S24+ unlocked   Edit:  after Sept security update install, checked and found a 13MB GP System update as well.  Still showing August 1st there however.
    • T-Mobile is selling the rest of the 3.45GHz spectrum to Columbia Capital.
    • Still nothing for my AT&T and Visible phones.
