But if you have the cash, you can earn a full 10% and not half. Plus, I don't think anyone should borrow money to make money if there is ANY risk in the making money part. Because you could lose money and still owe the debt.

The modern global economy is built on this idea.

You just need to be on the "bail me out" list if problems come up.

True, but if the choice is between pulling funds out of a good investment to pay for a car -- and I wouldn't leave them sitting in a savings account with piddling interest rates -- or pulling out only a down payment and taking a sub-3% loan, the latter makes sense to me. In fact, that is what I just did a couple weeks ago when we replaced our 12 year old car.

Paying cash is my preference generally, and I use my credit card sparsely and mainly for convenience, but I do consider the options in front of me each time.

Think of it this way; paying cash on the car is a GUARANTEED return because you will be guaranteed to "make" whatever the interest rate was for financing the car. You can't compare a risky and risk free rates of return as if they are apples to apples, but at some point yeah, if the financing cost is low enough compared to what you'd make investing it (adjusting for the risk), then it totally makes sense to finance.

Back on topic, with new plans, I've seen the Sprint stores busier and busier now. I walked by the Bryant Park store last week and it seemed like people were constantly walking in and out of the store.

Did you all see Marcelo's tweet about a "Nexus4Life" announcement coming this week? He was replying to someone asking about it.

That would be awesome for those that buy Nexus every year. Actually makes sense. Folks love their iPhones and folks love their Nexuses.

Now all Marcelo needs to do is make a 4Life campaign for the Galaxy lines (especially the Notes). Then the cycle would be complete.

Sorry Windows/Blackberry folks, no soup for you.  :P

This would be delicious. I don't really like my m8 at all and am getting either the iPhone 6 or the Nexus 6. Would prefer the Nexus though.

I doubt that a "Nexus for Life" would work quite as well as the "iPhone for Life."  Too much variability in Nexus handsets.

To illustrate, imagine that a "Nexus for Life" program had been instituted last year.  Thus, for the past year, you have been driving a nice luxury sedan.  Your year is up, so you roll in to Sprint and turn in your old Nexus for your new Nexus.  The salesman takes your keys, hands you the keys to a 45 foot RV, and says, "There you go."

Not a happy camper...

have you tried the google now launcher?

for most purposes it nearly turns an m8 into a nexus (other than the obvious google updates).

Also, it is possible to turn the m8 into a full google play version.

That said. Would a typical android user wait 2 years?

typical android user, or typical s4gru android user?

Based up on how many older android devices are still out there, I would say yes the typical android user would wait 2 years... but the typical s4gru user is probably around 6 months (or whenever the next new phone comes out lol).

This is the best analogy for the situation I've heard so far.

That looks like my Dad (20 years ago).  And that looks like my area in the background.  Looks just like that out my office window.

He's using the latest from Samsung, the Galaxy MegaPhab Allband edition.

Or the Nexus 7 Phone.

    • Since this is kind of the general chat thread, I have to share this humorous story (at least it is to me): Since around February/March of this year, my S22U has been an absolute pain to charge. USB-C cables would immediately fall out and it progressively got worse and worse until it often took me a number of minutes to get the angle of the cable juuuussst right to get charging to occur at all (not exaggerating). The connection was so weak that even walking heavily could cause the cable to disconnect. I tried cleaning out the port with a stable, a paperclip, etc. Some dust/lint/dirt came out but the connection didn't improve one bit. Needless to say, this was a MONSTER headache and had me hating this phone. I just didn't have the finances right now for a replacement.  Which brings us to the night before last. I am angry as hell because I had spent five minutes trying to get this phone to charge and failed. I am looking in the port and I notice it doesn't look right. The walls look rough and, using a staple, the back and walls feel REALLY rough and very hard. I get some lint/dust out with the staple and it improves charging in the sense I can get it to charge but it doesn't remove any of the hard stuff. It's late and it's charging, so that's enough for now. I decide it's time to see if that hard stuff is part of the connector or not. More aggressive methods are needed! I work in a biochem lab and we have a lot of different sizes of disposable needles available. So, yesterday morning, while in the lab I grab a few different sizes of needles between 26AWG and 31 AWG. When I got home, I got to work and start probing the connector with the 26 AWG and 31 AWG needle. The stuff feels extremely hard, almost like it was part of the connector, but a bit does break off. Under examination of the bit, it's almost sandy with dust/lint embedded in it. It's not part of the connector but instead some sort of rock-hard crap! That's when I remember that I had done some rock hounding at the end of last year and in January. This involved lots of digging in very sandy/dusty soils; soils which bare more than a passing resemblance to the crap in the connector. We have our answer, this debris is basically compacted/cemented rock dust. Over time, moisture in the area combined with the compression from inserting the USB-C connector had turned it into cement. I start going nuts chiseling away at it with the 26 AWG needle. After about 5-10 minutes of constant chiseling and scraping with the 26AWG and 31AWG needles, I see the first signs of metal at the back of the connector. So it is metal around the outsides! Another 5 minutes of work and I have scraped away pretty much all of the crap in the connector. A few finishing passes with the 31AWG needle, a blast of compressed air, and it is time to see if this helped any. I plug my regular USB-C cable and holy crap it clicks into place; it hasn't done that since February! I pick up the phone and the cable has actually latched! The connector works pretty much like it did over a year ago, it's almost like having a brand new phone!
    • That's odd, they are usually almost lock step with TMO. I forgot to mention this also includes the September Security Update.
    • 417.55 MB September security update just downloaded here for S24+ unlocked   Edit:  after Sept security update install, checked and found a 13MB GP System update as well.  Still showing August 1st there however.
    • T-Mobile is selling the rest of the 3.45GHz spectrum to Columbia Capital.
    • Still nothing for my AT&T and Visible phones.
