i'll definitely take a close look at this device when my wife comes due for an upgrade in a few months. She is by no means a power user (Facebook is about as powerful as she gets), but she'll appreciate the camera and I'll appreciate the price ;) . As always, the make-or-break point will be real-world RF performance.

I just realized there's no NFC, but then again, it's midrange. I really like using NFC to pay at Wegmans. Hrm.

Also, where's the earpiece speaker on this thing? Through the glass?

That comment with your avatar actually did make me laugh

Well, the avatar seems appropriate. After all, I came to S4GRU hoping to Get Smart...

Sadly, now it's time to go to work.

Although with these cheap prices, it may be worth trying to go back to Sprint on someone's plan.

So a nice lil write up on the device from the verge. People are genuinely intrigued by the device. Everyone is trying to figure out how to listen on a call as there is no ear piece per se. http://www.theverge.com/2014/8/19/6045973/sharp-aquos-crystal-sprint-hands-on

That's pretty awesome!

I still can't believe this thing is only $239.  I would have paid $100 more.  Amazing.

Is this thread a Sharp Aquos Crystal infomercial?

TLDR: Entire screen panel is the "speaker"

Whoa, No freaking way. For a mid range device it is really packing features I haven't seen before. Imagine what they can make with a top of the line device.

Since most specs meet my needs now, even in the midrange, and 5 inches is my preferred size (no lewd jokes, AJ), this seems like it would meet my needs well for my Sprint jaunts whilst travelling.

I…cannot…resist.  Robert…set me up…for…a great joke.

Welcome to the world of smartphones and porn -- where 5 inches is midrange, even downright small.

I used to play with the big ones.  The biggest ones, even.  The GN2 proved to be more than I can handle.  Way too big.  I managed to have some fun with it.  I'm glad I gave it a try.  But now I'm looking for more of an every day size...something I can just pull out and use anywhere, anytime.  I have settled in with 5", maybe a tad more for the right one.  But I can't take them any larger anymore.  Just too much for me.

You can't embarrass me pal.  I just walk right on in!   :sunny:

It's amazing. I thought androidforums was the leader in getting topics go off topic, but I see s4gru is now leader. A thread from device to christian soft porn in just a few posts.

I bow down to the new leader. lol

TS out (looking for that soap on the floor)

God says that all things are permissible, but not all things are profitable.  So I have permission!!!

    • I really apreciate no longer seeing n38 for T-Mobile. My s24 Ultra is reporting that Signalcheck Pro is crashing frequently.  It has the latest updates. I do occassional change sims and band preferences. Let me know if you need anything else.   Thanks.
    • Spent a lot of time in Westchester this weekend, specifically Yonkers and White Plains. I mapped three AT&T Nokia -> Ericsson conversions. I was super impressed with T-Mobile's macro density and not so much with AT&T's. In Yonkers it seems like T-Mobile macros outnumber AT&T macros 3 to 1 and in White Plains, 2 to 1. Another surprise was the lack of small cells on AT&T in both cities. While Cellmapper shows White Plains having no small cells, I did manage to find one in the Church Street neighborhood. While it's only one, it's an indication to me that T-Mobile intends on expanding n41 density with small cells in the city. On the other hand, in Yonkers T-Mobile has a ton of LTE small cells but none of them have been upgraded to 5G yet as far as I can tell. Crown Castle has been moving super fast in NYC and Long Island to upgrade and install new 5G small cells so I can only assume it's either a permitting or backhaul issue that's stopping them from moving full steam ahead there. — — — — — Came across this cool site in Yonkers with Verizon, T-Mobile, and Dish present.
    • Other two sectors finally installed. Hopefully it goes live soon though I know from past experience that these new builds can take weeks and in some cases months to go live.
