Yes, I am able to use the Buffalo application to access video files from the NAS and then stream to either of my Chromecasts.  Works like a champ as long as the file formats play nice, which for the most part do.

 

Ok cool, I'll bookmark the model you mentioned for future purchase.

It's all networked.  You just watch it on your HTPC like it is there (you can also watch it on xbox 360 as extender, or borrow a tuner and watch it on another device).

Ah now I get it.

 

I was trying to see how I could add an additional box inexpensively for my bedroom, but unless there is a way to output from the tuner into my TV directly, I wouldn't be able to.

If you have a xbox 360 laying around, that would work as a media center extender (everything you have recorded would be available, etc).  It would mirror your HTPC media center.

I have a Homerun HD and its pretty terrific. It now supports DLNA, so you could potentially stream to any device that currently has DLNA support. But, it would depend on your cable provider not flagging channels. Typically, the paid channels are flagged..

Yep I do, it's slaved to my Xbox One at the moment and I use it to play my old 360 games.

 

I'm also looking at what would be "wife approved"

trying to get rid my infinity4 for HD homerun Prime. Those things are the truth. 

 

Now, I know TWC offers their own version of an iPad app that allows me to stream the content on a tablet, so would it be safe to assume that the HD Homerun Prime is similar in that regard?

Nope, those apps get real limited once you leave the house

Which I understand, since I'm not looking to push my TV services outside my home. Rather, an inexpensive way to get a second TV online with my content.

yeah that would work perfectly in the house without hoping on Sprints network( had to keep it sprint related) 

Just make sure the channels you watch are on the APP.

 

Using homerun prime with DNLA  honestly you wouldn't have to worry about that plus just about any device will become a TV tuner.

Here is the setup I have and it works really smooth. Two HD Homerun Prime(6 Tuners total) run into a server running Ubuntu setup with MythTV. The Media server runs 2 3TB internal drives, and an External 3TB drive. All Movies are on one, all TV shows are on another and Music and DVR on the other. Shares are set for all drives. Then for front ends all four run OpenElec. For the front ends you can use something like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16856107141 just drop in a Hard drive or SSD a few gigs of memory and install OpenElec and your good to go. If you really want to make things fun, install XBMC on your phone and setup a VPN between your phone and router and you can even watch your files and tv from your phone anywhere you can get a good wifi connection.

      Good catch! I meant 115932/119932. Edited my original post I've noticed the same thing lately and have just assumed that they're skipping it now because they're finally able to deploy mmWave small cells.

      At some point over the weekend, T-Mobile bumped the Omaha metro from 100+40 to 100+90 of n41! That's a pretty large increase from what we had just a few weeks ago when we were sitting at 80+40Mhz. Out of curiosity, tested a site on my way to work and pulled 1.4Gpbs. That's the fastest I've ever gotten on T-Mobile! For those that know Omaha, this was on Dodge street in Midtown so not exactly a quiet area!

      Drove out into the country today.  Dish stuck to my phone like glue. At least -120 rsrp. Likely only good for phone calls (should have tested.) It then switched to T-Mobile. Getting back on Dish was another issue. I am used to dragging out coverage so I expected a few miles, but had to drive at least 10 miles towards a Dish site. Airplane mode, which worked for Sprint, did nothing. Rebooting did nothing. Finally got it to change over about 2 miles from the site by manually setting the carrier to Dish then it had great reception. Sprint used to have a 15 minute timeout but I did not have the patience today.  Previously I did a speed test on Dish out in the country at the edge of Dish coverage. My speeds were 2g variety. Dish has really overclocked some of these sites. Seen rssp readings in the 50s. Would have called them boomer sites with Sprint but much  more common with Dish.
