If I upgrade to a G3 at Best Buy will I be able to keep my ED450 plan? Can a BB employee (or anyone else) confirm? Thanks

Yes, I upgraded from my Nexus 5 to the LG G3 on my Everything Data - Share 1500 plan just this morning at WorstBuy.

Thanks. I wasn't sure since it's not officially offered/advertised anymore and when I went through the process on Amazon the other day, they weren't offering it.

Maybe it's different with a family plan? On the Select a Plan screen for the individual plan, the only options i'm seeing are the My All-Inand the Unlimited My Way with either 1GB or unlimited data.

Some plans will force a plan change, but the Best Buy employee can call NSS and have it switched back to your prior plan.

Yeah, I know. Right?  It's a nice device and the size of the screen is ideal, however It just isn't as buttery smooth as my Nexus 5 w/4.4.4 on it.  I had gotten used to the pure Google experience and miss it dearly. I do like the LG G3 Keyboard with the number keys along the top row, but miss the option to have the comma key appear on the main KB screen.  I also miss the display of punctuation marks when I press the space key (With predictive word suggestions turned off.)

I may exercise the 14-Day return period and stick with my Nexus 5 until the LG G3 Prime (Snapdragon 805) or GPE comes out.

Oh, I am mostly teasing.  However, the Nexus 5 may be the first device in a long while with legitimate multi year longevity, even superiority.  RF, processor, and screen are all pushing beyond the point of diminishing returns.  I probably should not, for I might never use it, but I may even pick up a second Nexus 5 as a backup.

Buy it and mail it to me. I'll hold it for you.

SwiftKey does numbers on the top row now too. So you can put that on the n5 in the meantime.

Oh, I know you would "hold it."  And tap it, watch it, listen with it, browse with it, play with it...

I upgraded yesterday. As long as you renew your 2 year, nothing changes. Got my G3 for 54.36 with tax. 32 GB even. I'm on a very old contract. 10+ years. You can't touch my monthly price with insurance. Unlimited everything and the 13.00 Insurance for 70 a month with tax. Yay grandfathered contracts!

I just added a line through Amazon. When I ordered it, it switched my lines from the Everything Data 1500 to the My Way plan. When I activated the phone today, I called back in to Sprint and they switched me back to the Everything Data 1500. I was told that you have 14 days to change it back. I just logged into my Sprint account and verified it is on the ED1500.

Be careful.  You could get hit with a charge from Amazon.  Often when you activate a line through a third party reseller, you agree to a secondary contract that requires you to remain on the specified plan for a certain period of time.  Otherwise, the reseller does not receive its full commission, so it hits you with a penalty fee.  Double check the fine print of any agreement that you signed.

I asked Amazon and they said it would not be a problem to do it. They said their system just isn't set up to keep old plans.

Has anyone ever had luck upgrading to a new phone with an everything plus referral plan at Best Buy or any 3rd party retailer?

Third parties do not have access to that account type at all, but you can still upgrade through a corporate store and then call national sales support to get switched back to your plan.

+1 for SwiftKey.  And, it has the comma on the main keyboard.

    • Definite usage quirks in hunting down these sites with a rainbow sim in a s24 ultra. Fell into a hole yesterday so sent off to T-Mobile purgatory. Try my various techniques. No Dish. Get within binocular range of former Sprint colocation and can see Dish equipment. Try to manually set network and everybody but no Dish is listed.  Airplane mode, restart, turn on and off sim, still no Dish. Pull upto 200ft from site straight on with antenna.  Still no Dish. Get to manual network hunting again on phone, power off phone for two minutes. Finally see Dish in manual network selection and choose it. Great signal as expected. I still think the 15 minute rule might work but lack patience. (With Sprint years ago, while roaming on AT&T, the phone would check for Sprint about every fifteen minutes. So at highway speed you could get to about the third Sprint site before roaming would end). Using both cellmapper and signalcheck.net maps to hunt down these sites. Cellmapper response is almost immediate these days (was taking weeks many months ago).  Their idea of where a site can be is often many miles apart. Of course not the same dataset. Also different ideas as how to label a site, but sector details can match with enough data (mimo makes this hard with its many sectors). Dish was using county spacing in a flat suburban area, but is now denser in a hilly richer suburban area.  Likely density of customers makes no difference as a poorer urban area with likely more Dish customers still has country spacing of sites.
    • Mike if you need more Dish data, I have been hunting down sites in western Columbus.  So far just n70 and n71 reporting although I CA all three.
    • Good catch! I meant 115932/119932. Edited my original post I've noticed the same thing lately and have just assumed that they're skipping it now because they're finally able to deploy mmWave small cells.
