Sprint Reportedly Bowing Out of T-Mobile Bid (was "Sprint offer" and "Iliad" threads)

Legere's tweets mean nothing but fear. He is tweeting away because he knows that sprint isn't screwing around anymore.

He can continue, makes him look pathetic.

:tu: Now we find out what happens after their Pump & Dump plan failed.

And his tweet mocking the pronunciation of Claure's name is borderline offensive. T-Mobile has LOTS of Hispanic subscribers. Does John want to alienate them?

I doubt he thought that far ahead...

Actually I think that was a genuine "friendly" tweet. As the media to this day still gets his name wrong. Maybe I'm wrong.

It could be jealousy rearing its ugly head. Picture this (from the WSJ article):

Marcelo Claure is a 6-foot-6-inch Bolivian billionaire who built a global mobile-phone distributor from scratch and had singer Jennifer Lopez perform at his 40th birthday party.

Or being investors and buds with David Beckham. Angry Johnny is green with envy.

He's a classless douchebag. And he proves it every day. I'm so glad that Masa called off the merger for many reasons. But I'm probably most thankful that Legere will not be running Sprint.

We get to see what an independent Sprint by Masa and a Tmo by Legere will look like in 3 years. In 5 years. Whatever happens to Sprint, good or bad, will be because of Masa. And likewise with Tmo, it will be Legere.

You'd have to be a fool not to take Masayoshi Son in that fight. Hardly 5 feet tall. But that's where I'm backing. Doubling down on Sprint now.

Like my previous post said. I think Marcelo, can take care of him self. I don't know him at all but - doesn't seem to be a pushover.

Raising prices? That would make sense.

I am sure their fanboys will love that!

They'll square that in their heads with some nonsense about the only way to beat AT&T and Verizon is to compete at their level or some drivel like that.

RE: Stocks

Im not sure if its a good time to jump in guys. Sprint was really overvalued because of the merger talk. The current price is still above where they were 2-3 years ago.

The analysts expect that Sprint needs to fight back with pricing. I agree, Ive said Framily was a ripoff since day 1. Right now, Sprint is the most expensive provider in many configurations, but is not providing the best network.

So lets say Sprint opens next week with new lower prices. Great for us.

Not great for stock.

Today's Sprint stock (in Sprint Corporation) newly issued beginning 2013 after the Softbank buyout is not the "same" Sprint stock as two years ago (in Sprint Nextel Corporation).  Thus, price comparisons may not be adequate.

Adjustments are carried out historically on sites like yahoo finance. Within the past 2-3 years Sprint has traded on an adjusted basis as low as $2.12 a share. Since 2010 there were 262 days where Sprint on an adjusted basis was trading below $4/share.

Despite your disclaimer, you still have what happened today fairly right. There was a premium on both Sprint and T-Mobile due to the merger speculation. We saw that eroded today. Sprint may need end up needing to be more competitive on prices (they probably do...), but I think priority one for them is to get NV 1.0 and 2.0 completed and then see where they stand. At that point they will either be providing the best or at the least a very competitive network. There is no need to go to T-Mobile like pump and dump levels yet. I think Sprint needs to (and can afford to) what and see how things shake out in a couple of quarters following 8T8R deployments and then go from there.

Good, I think Sprint needs to get in bed with Charlie. Marcelo needs to take one for the team ;). We need to keep Dish's spectrum out of T-Mobile's hands. Dish needs EBS spectrum for their plans. Sprint needs some more midband spectrum. I see common interests there.

Really? I think Sprint has plenty of Mid and highband spectrum in most places. It's lower band spectrum that is really their only need. That's why everyone keeps saying to keep thier powder dry for the 600Mhz auctions.

The only change I would make with Framily is to move the first line down to $50, instead of $55 and move the bottom price up to $30 (but you would get there with only 5 lines.) It would make them more competitive with "typical" family plan offerings but offset some of the revenue losses but increasing the costs on the highly discounted lines 7-10. The exising setup really makes them uncompetitive with those who don't want to run around adding people to their framily.

A nationwide 10 X 10 600mhz !!! Let's all put that in the universe so it can happen.

might have to use my voodoo magic lol

Ah, death threats. Funny I didn't realize that the person here had already got banned and came back under a different ID. Otherwise I would have never replied.

I have notified Phil and I have screen shots to boot. I'm not scared.

The Fierce comments section truly used to be a very nice place for intelligent discourse before the t-mobile fanboys showed up.

OK as further stating I have a cable connection with 10-30ms/12mbpaping. I also am testing how it compares to a fringe band 26 connection with pings 60-80ms and 2-4mbps. Youtube videos load fine, webpages load fine, videos on other sites are fine. So How can this(band 26 connection) be fine for multiple devices running, yet when people go to their phones anything short of 30mbps is "insufficient" ? Bottom line comes down to people are just trying to make themselves feel better through a speed test "contest" that ensued with the 4g rollout of all carriers. or People are abusing the internet with massive torrents for their home use. And yet again constantly mashing speed test can and have killed wireless networks in some areas

Edit: As a side note I was even able to play Elder scrolls online with this same connection as a small test. very little difference from my cable connection.

As an ISP, I know this very well.

It all depends where your target price is. I think Sprint has the potential to hit $25-30 a share in 3-5 years.

    • My s24 Ultras auto updated to April 1 security patch over night. Not on wi-fi.  Play system remains at March 1. No notice that update occurred on screen.
    • Got the latest update. On my S24 ultra the NR-ARFCN display remains constant (which is inaccurate according to diags) while n41 and 38 toggle back and forth.  I updated then rebooted before testing. Two sims active. My security patch level updated automatically to April 1 before this update. Diags sent while n38 was displaying.
    • Was able to install the March 1 Android security patch. Seems slightly more accurate with 5g ca band id, but can not swear by it. Updated google play system update through the software information screen to March 1. *#73# still works. Froze updates waiting on SCP update beta to fix n41 showing as n38.
    • Just installed it. Thanks for the info.  71 mb mar 1st date.
    • There's a permit for a new 47 story building at 205 Montague St in Downtown Brooklyn. The problem is that  T-Mobile eNB 48352 is on the building next door and this new building will block two out of 3 sectors of the site. For reference, the new building will be roughly as tall as 16 Court St which is right across the street. This site is the primary site covering Cadman Plaza so I wonder what the plan is. Will they just try to change sector placement, move to a different building, or will this just speed up the conversion of the Sprint site at 25 Monroe Place?
