So I started getting this about two weeks ago and didn't think anything of until I was talking to customer care about a billing issue and they said they also see an issue with my device connecting too towers. I haven't had issues but I thought i would go to Sprint and have them take a look. First she asked me, am I having any issues? I said I don't think so. An occasional dropped call but no big deal. Then she goes why are you here if phone is ok? I showed get the message and said oh, they are all saying that cause of the network being upgraded. I was like really? Interesting. I made her have the techs check out the phone any ways. Came back it's all good.
So does anyone know what really this message is about?
I called bull@$about it being network but if I'm wrong then tell me.

Thought I would share this and see what other's have too say.
Thanks

Never seen that message before. No idea what that's about.

Yup. Page or so back [emoji106]

Has anybody mentioned the fact that the G3 is now fully bootloader unlocked?

They already have a version of TWRP running on it, cant wait to get a stock android L rom going!

I got approved for the extra battery after getting this on opening day. They denied me so I said pretty please so they said ok. I'm not kidding either. LoL.

I'm in the same situation, so I'll try asking nice too when they deny me.

I hope Sprint and Lg pushed a update to fix the headphone Jack errors, I can't even use headphones or my aux cable 99% of the time. Very annoying.

What headphone jack errors are there?  Have not heard about this yet.

I chatted with LG support before I submitted mine.  I was told that even though I purchased my phone on 8/1 that I was still eligible.  Kept the transcript of the chat in case they deny me.  Have not heard back from them yet though.

I called LG when I was denied the battery because I purchased the G3 on ebay "New Sealed".  They told me they had nothing to do with the promotion.  I had to contact smsrebates.com.  I sent them an email and never heard back.  Totally blows!

Bummer. Never hurts to try though.

So, who's jumped all in and Bump'd? Hope to get to it today. To be honest though, this phone had treated me so perfectly I don't see much need for root and recoveries these days. It's always fun to play though and change things up a bit. [emoji106]

So if the G3s radio is the same across all variants, should we not be able to hack an unlock that allowed me to use my prepaid sims in this phone? One is a piggyback on Sprint and the other is TMO prepaid. I just want one device to rule them all. This phone should be capable of running any sim unless Ive missed something?....

Sprint wants to freak out about it being capable of running any sim cuz they are convinced Im gonna run away to some other carrier. I just wanna sell my secondary devices and keep the sims active but I need to use them sometimes. They are active after all. This device can run them all, it should be pretty simple coding somewhere that says not to allow all radio bands?

Here is a link to the CDMA frequency bands on the G3  It also shows which GSM bands are available.  Sprint's version is unique though...

My understanding is all GSM Bands are covered but LTE is only three bands that Sprint owns so LTE won't work on any bands but those three.

Not trying to argue so I hope it doesn't seem like that. Im just trying to learn/understand.

It's carrier unlocked for sure. I have to get my TMO sim from my daughters phone and try it.

    • Definite usage quirks in hunting down these sites with a rainbow sim in a s24 ultra. Fell into a hole yesterday so sent off to T-Mobile purgatory. Try my various techniques. No Dish. Get within binocular range of former Sprint colocation and can see Dish equipment. Try to manually set network and everybody but no Dish is listed.  Airplane mode, restart, turn on and off sim, still no Dish. Pull upto 200ft from site straight on with antenna.  Still no Dish. Get to manual network hunting again on phone, power off phone for two minutes. Finally see Dish in manual network selection and choose it. Great signal as expected. I still think the 15 minute rule might work but lack patience. (With Sprint years ago, while roaming on AT&T, the phone would check for Sprint about every fifteen minutes. So at highway speed you could get to about the third Sprint site before roaming would end). Using both cellmapper and signalcheck.net maps to hunt down these sites. Cellmapper response is almost immediate these days (was taking weeks many months ago).  Their idea of where a site can be is often many miles apart. Of course not the same dataset. Also different ideas as how to label a site, but sector details can match with enough data (mimo makes this hard with its many sectors). Dish was using county spacing in a flat suburban area, but is now denser in a hilly richer suburban area.  Likely density of customers makes no difference as a poorer urban area with likely more Dish customers still has country spacing of sites.
    • Mike if you need more Dish data, I have been hunting down sites in western Columbus.  So far just n70 and n71 reporting although I CA all three.
    • Good catch! I meant 115932/119932. Edited my original post I've noticed the same thing lately and have just assumed that they're skipping it now because they're finally able to deploy mmWave small cells.
