S4GRU
Now if I could only get this to work on my AT&T Nexus 5. No Google Voice integration.
mhammett
People still use Google Voice? lolHeavily. What would you not?
Nrbelex
I've also not been offered the updated Hangouts app or any merger options. It seems possible that those using Sprint's GV integration are going to have to wait a bit. Also, since we're integrated, there's no benefit to having the new dialer app (aside from VoIP calling) correct?

An alternative to the built in Sprint Wi-Fi calling?
dedub
I can't wait until the hangouts dialer is integrated into the nexus dialer.
khammondnm
An alternative to the built in Sprint Wi-Fi calling? Unless you don't have Wi-Fi calling! I'm looking at you N5
Nrbelex
An alternative to the built in Sprint Wi-Fi calling? Yea, that's what I meant by "aside from VoIP calling," but Wi-Fi calling is more accurate.
mc_gusto
Can this be easily turned on and off?
dedub
I don't think anyone here has been able to turn it on yet, so it's anyone's guess at this point.

khammondnm
You can definitely receive calls. So I can make/receive calls while only connected to Wi-Fi using the new hangouts/dialer combination?
mc_gusto
Receiving calls should be much faster too. Instantaneous in fact.

dedub
So I can make/receive calls while only connected to Wi-Fi using the new hangouts/dialer combination? Well, I can confirm that I was able to make and receive calls from my nexus 7 to a landline. When I call my number, it rings both my tablet and phone. I am *not* able to send SMS from hangouts on my n7, but I am (still) able to send SMS via google voice app. Edited September 10, 2014 by dedub
kct1975
Just my opinion, but personally, I am not really happy about Google Voice being folded into Hangouts. While the Google Voice app is far from perfect, I personally don't really like having my phone intergrated with a Social app. But, I guess that I will have no choice. Yuhfhrh
When enabling Sprint integration, everything stops working. I don't think this will work for Sprint+GV integration yet. I wonder why? Edit: Phone calls over data still work, but all texting over data stops working in hangouts.

Hangouts is a poorly chosen name. It sounds too casual, unprofessional. If Hangouts is going to be the central location for text messaging (via data or SMS), voicemail, chat, VoIP, and video calling, then Google should rebrand back to Grand Central -- the service that originally became Google Voice. AJ I agree, I was thinking 'communicator' or something along those lines, but I love the grand central idea.

shockerengr
I changed the chat method back to google chat from hangouts in my gmail - so far that has kept google voice working as before - including making/receiving phone calls through my Obi100. Hopefully that continues to stay true
tybo31316
If I integrate my sprint number with google voice will my sprint # show when calling people using the new hangouts on my n5. Sent from my Nexus
