Google Nexus 5 by LG Users Thread!

Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll release a 5.2" version later as some have speculated.

I don't want a behemoth phone. I had the Note 2. Too big. The Nexus 5 size was perfect. Love it! How about the Nexus 6 and the Nexus 6 del Grande? I hear 6 Plus is already taken. :)

google may keep the N5 in the lineup for a smaller option.  nobody knows for sure yet....

6S is open I think, but they may need that one next year.

lol true.

You all are whimps. Shamu too big? Oh Please, Shamu has nothing on the Mega, size wise.  :P (insert deep cowboy voice here) Now that's a mans phone. <return back to wimpy voice> lol

All joking aside, If i wasn't going for the Note Edge (whenever that damn thing comes out) I would probably (85%) have turned in my Mega for the Shamu. Even with it not having a sd card.

Negative.  The Note Edge has been announced on all four U.S. national providers.  It is launching in Korea first.

And only on a "limited production" basis.

I have been wanting to try a phablet, personally. I just hope it also has dual front facing speakers. I miss those from the m7 when i bought my N5.

Is the next radio app compatible with the nexus 5?

I installed it from the play store and it said my carrier is blocking the FM radio

Thanks. I didn't think it did but the app seemed to imply it worked on all phones

Here is a link to an article that states that device (Nexus 6) will be available on Sprint. Take it for what it's worth....

These guys also tell false truths about Sprint taking away unlimited data.

TKTechNews which that article said it had information that it would be on Sprint now says it is AT&T exclusive for 2 months then on Verizon too.

Oh wow! I would like to see that device come to Sprint. I'd probably go for it. By what I have seen so far, it looks pretty sweet.

I can't imagine Verizon letting it on their network. They like to have the upper hand all the time.

First off, it's hard to imagine any Nexus device being an AT&T exclusive. It's kind of counter to the whole marque. Second, Verizon getting back in on an open device? That's hard to imagine unless Google decided to close the ecosystem for Verizon. This just doesn't smell right. And consider the source. They already have contradicted themselves with the Nexus 6/Nexus X rumors. No matter what ends up happening, they were wrong.

It's hard for me to imagine the new Nexus not being released like the last one. Unless they went back and created provider specific devices like the Galaxy Nexus. And what a mess that was. The N4/N5 open environment is the only way to go.

If they kow towed to Verizon and created different devices in a non open platform, then I will no longer be a Nexus device owner and avoid the newest version. Might as well just get a carrier version of the Google Play edition of the device of my choosing. Or go back to modding.

I didn't mean to imply that its not coming to Sprint but just to show they change what they are reporting all the time. Trolling for clicks maybe.

Reading the TKTechNews article about the Verizon and AT&T exclusive gave me a headache. That author can't write grammatically correct sentences to save his life. An "and" was missing the "d." Snapdragon was spelled with a space. Nexus wasn't capitalized in a few places. There were inconsistencies all over the place. I definitely would read this article with a grain of salt, and if he turns out right, well, then either his sources were correct or it was pure coincidence, and good for him, but I cannot take that kind of writing if they are aiming for credibility.

Ill make my comments brief, in hopes that it creates dialog abbot our future. The synergy and blending of the 2 company's from the network perspective is a complete disaster already! If you are a Sprint Network Employee and feel everything is so far, so good. You have not yet been tortured by the superior leader. Its coming.
T-mobile either has a leadership directive to force out Sprint employees, or the local markets and regions are overwhelmed by the extensive knowledge Sprint folks bring and that intimidation is causing them to try and force you out. To be fair, Sprint had layers of dead weight also and most need to be bounced.
From the brief time I have seen their processes and procedures combined with the lack of experience, rest assured you are all in for a wild ride.
      How about unionizing?

Even though Sprint doesn't have the best coverage in my area. I do have lots of memories and nostalgia with the company. I wonder who else here will miss Sprint besides me?

I'm new to this forum, and I've seen people mention cell sites with specific ID's (for example, SF33XC664). Is there any significance to these ID's, and is there a way to decode them? Also, how do I figure out what the cell site ID's are for towers near me?
Thanks! I'm excited to start talking on this site more 😀

Samsung Network Vision equipment are highly distinct and fairly easy to spot compared to the equipment that other vendors are deploying. Sprint is Samsung's first extremely massive American contract (baring Clearwire) so there  should be no issues in confusing these equipment for another carrier which happens often with Ericsson NV equipment.

Below are images of Samsung equipment which includes antennas, remote radio units, base stations, and their mounting configurations.

    • Thanks! I build non carrier compliant but still compliant machines so if you need one before T-Mo builds one I am here.
    • I just found this out myself on the s10e. Download the Samsung Band Selection app and you can set it back to wifi if you want. Dumb that there is no menu option for it natively.
    • So I got the Pebble from Sprint, I'm waiting for the damn VoLTE to enable. I harassed Sprint and they said it is a limitation of the device (which they still can't explain why) and waiting is the only option. They also told me every time there is a power failure the wait for it to enable begins again.... really? Does anyone know how it works and why there is a 2-3 week lead up to VoLTE enabling? So now my voice calls drop down to 1x and I can't receive MMS when I'm on a call. No problem I thought, I'll just switch to wifi calling for now and I can still get MMS over LTE while I'm on a call. Not so fast. For some damn reason wifi calling doesn't work on my SM-G970U1 (unlocked s10e) when I'm connected to the Pebble. If I turn airplane mode on, wifi calling pops right up. If I unplug the pebble, wifi calling pops right up. That leads one to believe the Pebble is preventing wifi calling from activating for some reason. However, my dad's LG V20 has absolutely no issue using wifi calling while connected to the Pebble and can therefore receive MMS just fine. Do you have any idea what in the hell could be causing this? Is this some whack setting on the s10e which I'm not seeing? Phone has the latest updates, 911 is updated, I did PRL and profile updates. I'm stumped....   UPDATE: So I found the answer in the wifi-calling menus and googling that took me to a post here. Apparently starting in April of 2020, Sprint decided it knows what is best for you so it sets calling over the network to preferred and only if signal is too weak will it default to wifi calling. There is no visible option in the phone to change that setting. I had to download Samsung Band app to set it to prefer wifi and bam.... now it is enabled. I'd still like to know WTF the Pebble is doing with VoLTE though.
