And I am still wondering... What voicemail?

Posted Image

I guess standard voicemail notification directly from carrier to the OS without an app, like Google Voice or other visual voicemail apps. Press 1 on the dialpad to access it.

4.4.2 supposedly fixes the voicemail notification problem in the Nexus 5, but after sideloading the update it still doesn't work. Does it work for anyone?

I saw posts on the Sprint Community board saying the same thing, so it's probably not just you.

Is it pretty easy to get a sim at a corporate store now? Just ordered my nexus.

Ironically, my sprint corporate store fed me a line and wouldnt give one up.  I went to a sprint third party retailer and they were more than willing.  Was told all sprint stores were sent a bunch specifically for the nexus.  He had a stack of like 5-10 that had come in the week before (this was last week).  Take that for what its worth though.

They are free, correct?

Yeah, so don't let anyone try to charge you for one.  I think we had someone report on here that the Sprint rep didn't want to give him one without forking over $50.

Is Siri away visiting her sister while you fool around with Google Now?

Yes, should be.  You can try telling them Sprint CS sent you in (which they do in some cases).  In my search for one, Sprint International CS offered to call the store and ask about stock as well.  You can tell a little white lie and tell the store CS sent you in and if they say they have none tell them CS called the store the other day to check and were told they had plenty.

If you think about it, it be hard to have a cell phone store, push for all kinds of activations by your employees but not have SIM cards on hand to activate the devices.

That may have happened to someone else too, but it most certainly happened to me.  The guy was awfully rude about it too, like I was wasting his time.

Unfortunately for him, you were "wasting his time."  The commissioned sales employees are not getting paid for forking over free SIM cards to existing subs.  And that likely explains the attitude some have encountered.

Fair enough, as I got this attitude from the sales guy, but I got it considerably worse from the tech guy, who shouldn't be commissioned or anything.  He was far more condescending than the first guy.  He wouldn't give out "any of his equipment" or even look at the N5 to show me that it needed "a special sim" without me forking over $50 on the spot.

If not, I contacted Sprint Worldwide Chat and they shipped me a sim card right away, for free, no questions asked.  I contacted them last Wed, and they got it to me today for free--No shipping charge either (also, they do have a 12 dollar overnight shipping option).

...lol.  Lucky.  I ordered mine through worldwide chat on 11/4, and there has literally been zero movement on it.  I actually just pulled up the order on Sprint's site.  The order is there, it was "last updated" on 12/10/2013, but there is still no tracking number, and no status.

    • Definite usage quirks in hunting down these sites with a rainbow sim in a s24 ultra. Fell into a hole yesterday so sent off to T-Mobile purgatory. Try my various techniques. No Dish. Get within binocular range of former Sprint colocation and can see Dish equipment. Try to manually set network and everybody but no Dish is listed.  Airplane mode, restart, turn on and off sim, still no Dish. Pull upto 200ft from site straight on with antenna.  Still no Dish. Get to manual network hunting again on phone, power off phone for two minutes. Finally see Dish in manual network selection and choose it. Great signal as expected. I still think the 15 minute rule might work but lack patience. (With Sprint years ago, while roaming on AT&T, the phone would check for Sprint about every fifteen minutes. So at highway speed you could get to about the third Sprint site before roaming would end). Using both cellmapper and signalcheck.net maps to hunt down these sites. Cellmapper response is almost immediate these days (was taking weeks many months ago).  Their idea of where a site can be is often many miles apart. Of course not the same dataset. Also different ideas as how to label a site, but sector details can match with enough data (mimo makes this hard with its many sectors). Dish was using county spacing in a flat suburban area, but is now denser in a hilly richer suburban area.  Likely density of customers makes no difference as a poorer urban area with likely more Dish customers still has country spacing of sites.
    • Mike if you need more Dish data, I have been hunting down sites in western Columbus.  So far just n70 and n71 reporting although I CA all three.
    • Good catch! I meant 115932/119932. Edited my original post I've noticed the same thing lately and have just assumed that they're skipping it now because they're finally able to deploy mmWave small cells.
    • At some point over the weekend, T-Mobile bumped the Omaha metro from 100+40 to 100+90 of n41! That's a pretty large increase from what we had just a few weeks ago when we were sitting at 80+40Mhz. Out of curiosity, tested a site on my way to work and pulled 1.4Gpbs. That's the fastest I've ever gotten on T-Mobile! For those that know Omaha, this was on Dodge street in Midtown so not exactly a quiet area!
