-Some crappy generic Acer motherboard

-A generic Gateway case

-i5-2400 @3.1GHz with the cooler it came with

-An MSI Nvidia GTX670 2GB

-8GB (2x4) DDR3 1333MHz

-A 1TB 7200rpm Western Digital HDD

-A 750watt PSU (overkill I know, I bought it for use with later machines)

-Some crappy 23" 1080p monitor

I don't have it with me now, as I'm on vacation. I'll update this post with more info when I get home in a week. I definitely need a better case, motherboard, and cooling system. I'll probably end up getting some new parts with holiday gift money. But it does what I need it to do. It maxes out Minecraft. (lol)

My laptop that I hardly ever use is a HP dv7

Intel quad core i7 2.5 ghz/3.6 ghz

8 GB Patriot RAM

OCZ 512 GB SSD

Samsung 640 GB 7200k hd

BD-RW

17" 1080p Led display

Beats Audio quad speaker /w sub built in

2 USB 3.0

Windows 8.1 Pro

I got it mostly so my wife had a little something to do some light Photoshop work on. It'd be a lot nicer if Windows 8 weren't such a pile of crap.

I'm not in the mood to go look at the exact brand names, etc. about all the hardware in my Alienware, but here is the gist of it:

  • Whatever the Intel Motherboard is that they put in the Aurora R4's is
  • Quad Core 3rd Gen i7 @ 3.6 GHz
  • 32 GB of DDR3 RAM (Either 2 x 16 GB or 4 x 8 GB)
  • 2 x 3 TB 10,000 RPM HDD
  • NVIDIA Geforce 680 GTX 4 GB
  • 2 x Blu-Ray Burner/Reader
  • 1200 Watt PSU
  • Hisense 39'' LCD TV
  • Paired with an Onkyo TX-SR705 7.1 Ch AV Reciever, with Bose 301 Series V's as front speakers, and Bose Companion II's as rear speakers
  • Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit

13" MacBook Pro (Mid-2012) with:

Dual Core Intel Core i5 @ 2.5 GHz

8GB DDR3 RAM (will be upgrading to 16GB in February)

1TB Western Digital Scorpio Blue HDD

Intel HD Graphics 4000 running on 1GB of System RAM (performs great for Intel Integrated graphics)

standard MacBook Pro SuperDrive (will be replacing in February with another HD of some choice, most likely another 1TB or 1.5TB HDD for my video collection to be built into my computer).

Either the upgrades, or replacing it in February with a 15" MacBook Pro (Mid-2012) model.

I now have two relatively respectable rigs. My main machine is at my place, and an alternate ($600) one is at my parents'. Why multiple desktops? Because it's hard to run one 27" 2560x1440 monitor and two 1080p ones (the brand of the 27" varies, but the smaller ones are always Asus) off a laptop.

Anyway...

Primary: 2011 iMac 27"

  • Intel Core i7 2600 (not K) 3.4GHz (quad-core)
  • 32GB RAM
  • 256GB Apple SSD (unknown brand) + 2TB Hitachi 7200RPM HDD
  • Radeon 6970M with 2GB VRAM

Secondary: iBuyPower NE641FX

  • AMD FX-8320 CPU @ 3.5GHz (8-core)
  • 8GB RAM
  • 1TB WD Blue HDD
  • MSI + nVidia GTX 650 with 1GB VRAM

Laptop: mid-2009 MacBook (one of a few laptops, but this one's the most powerful; the others are a Chromebook and an Atom-based convertible tablet)

  • Core 2 Duo 2.13GHz (P7450)
  • 8GB RAM (DDR2-667, moved from a slightly older, otherwise identical machine)
  • Crucial m4 256GB SSD
  • nVidia 9400

All of the above machines dual-boot. The laptop is Win7 + Mac OS. The iMac is Win8 + Mac OS. The iBuyPower is Win8 + Ubuntu 13.10.

Nothing extravagant, other than the iMac (which I bought used and upgraded the RAM myself). But all quite functional for what I do, though gaming power varies.
