We knew every smartphone will be Triband starting next year but I don't remember hearing about HD voice

 

In the Q3 Earnings, they mentioned HD Voice is rolling out currently, available to around 87 Million POP's and is on track to be finished next year.

I remember that but I didn't know that new devices will be getting the support.

 

Not sure if you read the article but it does mention something about plans

 

"Euteneuer also teased different pricing plans or features to come in the fourth quarter that would "demonstrate our creativeness and refocus our sales."

At first, didn't they say it would only work if you happened to call another sprint subscriber on the same vendor (AL/Ericsson/Samsung)?

 

After being spoiled on T-Mobile's voice network, Sprint really sounds crummy.  Plus, the new eCSFB seems to silence the line so I keep thinking the call drops when talking to someone.

Has anyone heard any news or seen any LTE 800 go online anywhere? Sprint said it should start in the first quarter and if what the Ericsson guy told me is true then they have the carrier cards already and all Sprint has to do is hit the switch. Only 48 days left in the year to meet the goal of at least starting in the 4th quarter. I would hate for Sprint to be behind on this deployment too like everything else.

Well, you got the part right about Toledo being a "crap market."  Detroit, Toledo, and Cleveland do not exactly have a lot going for them.  But let us keep this thread on track, okay?

While it's true that our tourism industry consists of a few travelers required to spend the night due to a layover at the Cleveland airport, and yes, our economy has not set any job creating records since the fall of domestic manufacturing, I submit to you the pride of every Clevleander: the Cleveland Browns and the loyal following that are drawn to them.

I wish I could have at least Sprint voice quality. AT&T voice really stinks. Makes me talk on the phone even less!

AT&T is using a FR voice codec in most markets.  Can you screenshot the codec you use when making an outbound call?

 

In my experience AT&T to AT&T calls sound great.  AT&T to CDMA customers don't sound so great.

I've gone through all the engineering screens I can find on my N5, and none display WCDMA or GSM codecs, as far as I can see.

I know you can tell on a Samsung phone, but I doubt that helps you much.

I am not buying "GinaDee's" word on the matter. AT&T has been notorious for years for awful AMR-HR voice quality. I want to see substantial evidence to the contrary.

Need to step out of the bubble AJ and try AT&T for yourself.    

 

It's adaptive multi rate... dynamic based on network load.  The days of AT&T forcing and locking down phones to HR 100% of t the time are over.  The bit rate lowers when absolutely needed but it no longer camps out there full time.

      Definite usage quirks in hunting down these sites with a rainbow sim in a s24 ultra. Fell into a hole yesterday so sent off to T-Mobile purgatory. Try my various techniques. No Dish. Get within binocular range of former Sprint colocation and can see Dish equipment. Try to manually set network and everybody but no Dish is listed.  Airplane mode, restart, turn on and off sim, still no Dish. Pull upto 200ft from site straight on with antenna.  Still no Dish. Get to manual network hunting again on phone, power off phone for two minutes. Finally see Dish in manual network selection and choose it. Great signal as expected. I still think the 15 minute rule might work but lack patience. (With Sprint years ago, while roaming on AT&T, the phone would check for Sprint about every fifteen minutes. So at highway speed you could get to about the third Sprint site before roaming would end). Using both cellmapper and signalcheck.net maps to hunt down these sites. Cellmapper response is almost immediate these days (was taking weeks many months ago).  Their idea of where a site can be is often many miles apart. Of course not the same dataset. Also different ideas as how to label a site, but sector details can match with enough data (mimo makes this hard with its many sectors). Dish was using county spacing in a flat suburban area, but is now denser in a hilly richer suburban area.  Likely density of customers makes no difference as a poorer urban area with likely more Dish customers still has country spacing of sites.

      Mike if you need more Dish data, I have been hunting down sites in western Columbus.  So far just n70 and n71 reporting although I CA all three.

      Good catch! I meant 115932/119932. Edited my original post I've noticed the same thing lately and have just assumed that they're skipping it now because they're finally able to deploy mmWave small cells.
