LG G2 Users Thread!

My G2 has fantastic call quality. My wife and I both have one and the calls that we make to each other are beyond any phone I've ever heard, including landlines. My speaker is a lot louder than my Evo 3D. It must be some kind of regional issue with certain equipment combinations or something. I even had someone stop me at the school I work at and ask me how I liked my G2 because his wife has one and he is waiting to upgrade to one as well.

Other then the issues with Pandora screeching I love this phone. Camera is amazing.

i guess it has to be for different regions because my call quality is awesome..my dad even asked me while i was talking to him what was i doing different because he could hear me so much better, thats when i told him i got a new phone..i havent had any crackling or anything like that with the exception of listening to headphones on pandora..i get a white noise, scretching sound every now and then but other than that, this is definitely the best phone ive had.

This I think is playing a big part. For those of you with call quality issues I wonder if you have 800 complete in your area.

I frequently look at my phone to make sure I haven't accidently hit speakerphone because my calls are just THAT loud due to my area having 800 complete for voice.

My area is voice 800 complete.  Just waiting for LTE 800 now...

And how's your voice quality? Good or cracked and broken?

Edit. Just read what you posted not too long ago. I haven't had any issues with mine as far as sounding tinny. Mine sounds how all my phones have just my g2 has a lot more oomph behind the sound it puts out. The speakerphone being the only thing that lacks.

Some calls, not all, have the crackle.  It sounds like when you turn the speaker up way too loud and it distorts.

I actually think that if the incoming voice is a little loud, such as on automated systems, it over-modulates the codec.

Where did you find the ported mood at, I couldn't find it anywhere!

This update needs to roll out quicker so we can see if it improves at all for sure. I'd be interested to know if my quality gets better than it already is.

Go to apps > all > Google services framework > clear data > force stop > then click check now under update LG software :)

Screeching as like high pitched chirps? Since the update it has not done it( knocks on wood) sounds amazing on the phone.

Exactly. I haven't received the update yet. Also Spotify said they fix the crashing issue boy did they lie.

What crashing issue? I use Spotify nearly every day on my G2 and it hasn't crashed once..

I can be listening to spotify and have it running in the background and it just randomly close. Someone suggested force stop it and clear data. Thought that fixed it but happen a couple days later. Then they put an update out that said they fixed it. NOT

A Google engineer recently mentioned it's not a good idea to clear data like that to try forcing updates, it breaks some other things. The article(s) have been making the rounds, here's one of them: http://www.talkandroid.com/185088-google-engineer-explains-why-you-shouldnt-clear-google-services-framework-data/

If I was not on a Triband device, I'd have an inconsistent 4G connection here waiting for my next class to start at 6pm.

Netflix/Reddit is blazing on this speed. ;)

You're making me jealous!  It'll be years before they have band 41 here in Harrisburg.  Enjoy it!

    • Since this is kind of the general chat thread, I have to share this humorous story (at least it is to me): Since around February/March of this year, my S22U has been an absolute pain to charge. USB-C cables would immediately fall out and it progressively got worse and worse until it often took me a number of minutes to get the angle of the cable juuuussst right to get charging to occur at all (not exaggerating). The connection was so weak that even walking heavily could cause the cable to disconnect. I tried cleaning out the port with a stable, a paperclip, etc. Some dust/lint/dirt came out but the connection didn't improve one bit. Needless to say, this was a MONSTER headache and had me hating this phone. I just didn't have the finances right now for a replacement.  Which brings us to the night before last. I am angry as hell because I had spent five minutes trying to get this phone to charge and failed. I am looking in the port and I notice it doesn't look right. The walls look rough and, using a staple, the back and walls feel REALLY rough and very hard. I get some lint/dust out with the staple and it improves charging in the sense I can get it to charge but it doesn't remove any of the hard stuff. It's late and it's charging, so that's enough for now. I decide it's time to see if that hard stuff is part of the connector or not. More aggressive methods are needed! I work in a biochem lab and we have a lot of different sizes of disposable needles available. So, yesterday morning, while in the lab I grab a few different sizes of needles between 26AWG and 31 AWG. When I got home, I got to work and start probing the connector with the 26 AWG and 31 AWG needle. The stuff feels extremely hard, almost like it was part of the connector, but a bit does break off. Under examination of the bit, it's almost sandy with dust/lint embedded in it. It's not part of the connector but instead some sort of rock-hard crap! That's when I remember that I had done some rock hounding at the end of last year and in January. This involved lots of digging in very sandy/dusty soils; soils which bare more than a passing resemblance to the crap in the connector. We have our answer, this debris is basically compacted/cemented rock dust. Over time, moisture in the area combined with the compression from inserting the USB-C connector had turned it into cement. I start going nuts chiseling away at it with the 26 AWG needle. After about 5-10 minutes of constant chiseling and scraping with the 26AWG and 31AWG needles, I see the first signs of metal at the back of the connector. So it is metal around the outsides! Another 5 minutes of work and I have scraped away pretty much all of the crap in the connector. A few finishing passes with the 31AWG needle, a blast of compressed air, and it is time to see if this helped any. I plug my regular USB-C cable and holy crap it clicks into place; it hasn't done that since February! I pick up the phone and the cable has actually latched! The connector works pretty much like it did over a year ago, it's almost like having a brand new phone!
    • That's odd, they are usually almost lock step with TMO. I forgot to mention this also includes the September Security Update.
    • 417.55 MB September security update just downloaded here for S24+ unlocked   Edit:  after Sept security update install, checked and found a 13MB GP System update as well.  Still showing August 1st there however.
    • T-Mobile is selling the rest of the 3.45GHz spectrum to Columbia Capital.
    • Still nothing for my AT&T and Visible phones.
