iPhone 5S signal strength in dBm

Recommended Posts

I just got my 5S today. My 4S was jailbroken, and I had my signal strength shown in dBm. This seems to have automatically carried over to my 5S without me having to do anything, other than restore from the 4S' iCloud backup.

Say I do a clean restore, is there a way to get this back? I've searched, but it seems people are having trouble getting the numerical signal strength to 'stick' on iOS 7.

In the iOS section, i believe there is a small hack to do this without jailbreak.  Must dial #3001*# (this is a start I can't remember the rest) and then hold down power and home button.

Once in field test screen, you hold down the power button until the slider comes up to power off the phone.  Then you hold down the home button for 5-10 secs, the screen will flash.  Release the home button immediately and press it one more time to exit out of field test mode.

If it goes back to the dots instead of the dbm number, turn your phone off and back on again.  Re-do the same procedure above and it should work.

Only problem I have had is it only last for say 30 mins, then it automatically goes go to the dots/bars for reception with iOS7??  In iOS6, it would always stay in dbm format.

Go into the phone app & dial *3001#12345#*

When you get into this hold down the lock button until the power down slider appears , when it does let go of lock button & hold down on the home button for a while , the screen will then flash & send you back to the home screen. Ur -dBm should be displayed instead of the dots.

If it doesn't work the first time just do it again.

    • So I'm getting "Clearwire" notifications on SCP since upgrading to the latest update as far as provider goes when the bands are clearly tmo (2 and 4, usually...with a smattering of 41).  All of these indicated T-Mobile prior to last update. Why the odd discrepancy?  Anyone? Bueller?  Anyone?
    • The real question will be the effect on the upcoming 2.5 EBS auction.  T-Mobile might be able to get very good prices with almost no implementation costs for much better service in small cities and rural areas.
    • What was the previous 600Mhz antenna?
    • Auction 107: Hit $80.9B.   Now going to enter the assignment phase where bidders can bid on specific spectrum blocks. Wonder how fast this will get online this year.  TMobile's head start with 2.5GHz is gonna get challenged.  I could see them taking the lead in wireless tests in 2021 but then the gap close in 2022.   Auction 108: Three blocks.  49.5, 50.5 and 16.5MHz. I wonder how heavy TMobile will buy here. It'll sorta clean up their holdings and I could see down the road if they don't bid they have to invest more time keeping interference out of the current existing white-space. Likely at least secure entire counties they already own a partial license in. Everything about 2.5 is such a mess.
    • So very interesting find , at my home The 5G upper layer indicator was turned off on certain LTE bands, but still has NR connected. It was on a Band 30 5 mhz one tower, a Band 30 10mhz chunk on another, and my home tower the Band 2 5Mhz chunk now has no indicator on. I am wondering if they are maybe configuring the the tower for DSS NR band 2
