According to sources elsewhere, the Galaxy Mega 6.3 USCC CDMA variant is now being shipped to stores and will be available around the 18th. Sprint should not be far behind.

Nice!  I need it in hand by the 27th for my mothers Birthday gift!  Hope ours makes it in time!

i spun through the thread and didn't see it mentioned, do we know yet if this one has SVLTE and/or SVDO?

Neither.  Early tri band handsets, maybe all tri band handsets, will lack SVLTE.  And SVDO has been gone for about a year now.

thanks, i knew about that info but was hoping that with the size of the device and being a "phablet" they may have added it for this one.

I was interested in this device to replace my aging Galaxy Nexus, however people have been reporting on XDA that there is a screen brightness bug that dims the screen 50%. Supposedly the phone dims the screen to prevent overheating, although some have ran temperature benchmarks and found no anomalies. I am definately an AMOLED guy, so I will hold out for a device that meets my needs:

Dual-core (I don't game or do any heavy multi-tasking, so I prefer a CPU that sips battery juice, and not guzzles it)

Tri-band LTE (for obvious reasons)

5"-6" AMOLED screen (I prefer 720p for the text size, but I can manage with 1080p if need be)

The Moto X has all the right specs, except for the tri-band LTE, what a bummer.

Any news on the release date for Sprint???

Can't believe US Celluar released the Mega before Sprint.

None of us have heard anything yet. Patience is the key at this point. I'm hoping October is the month Sprint catches up with all their phone releases.

No Tri band phone has released yet on Sprint despite them launching elsewhere so I think that being Tri band has to be a part of it.

Any explanation for why Tri-Band devices lack SVLTE?

Because too much greatness in one device could tear a hole in the fabric of space and doom us all to an alternate reality where Sprint doesn't exist and fried chicken is poisonous to humans.

I looked at the Mega today at a AT&T store. It was comically big. I cannot believe anyone being able to use the thing seriously as an every day phone. I won't lie, I dropped it while trying to use it one handed. Oops.

I wonder how this would work with the Mega: http://shop.flygrip.com/

HAHA i told ya.  Did you see my pic I posted comparing the LG Optimus G Pro and Galaxy Mega 6.3.  Its freakishly big and I can't fathom how you would put that in your pocket not to mention holding that thing in one hand.

I wouldn't be surprised if sprint is waiting for some of the incentives to expire before they release their new phones. And once NV is up and shows how sprint has the best coverage in the nation, they'll drop unlimited data like its hot.

NV can't give sprint the best coverage.  They don't have nearly enough towers compared to Verizon.  If they ever announce NV 3.0 and plan to add 20,000+ towers, maybe then they'd have a chance.

The ex-Nextel spectrum gives Sprint a chance against VZW and AT&T's massive swaths of 700 MHz spectrum. That's something T-Mobile doesn't have, and wouldn't unless DT sold TMUS to SoftBank.

I don't see that happening. I think DT will sell TMUS sometime but I don't it's to SoftBank.

Got to hold the phone today it feels nice. I could type one handed, so I think I would consider it given it is triband. I didnt really use it much, but did it have the lag like the original note had? That is my concern.

Did you tried it out at a AT&T or US Celluar store?  The latest news I heard about this phone is that the unstable country of Egpyt is getting it before Sprint customers.

I work at target in electronics and someone I was talking to had it and showed me it and I got to hold it and see how it fit in hand. I liked it, but the lack of spen is what I would miss. But id rather wait until the triband in phone part is stable. Maybe they are trying to get a good size stock so they dont run out?

Oh has anyone have an idea of the off contract price of this phone? Ive seen international version go for around 450 or less. And the AT&T shows a 539 price off contract

    • Good catch! I meant 115932/119932. Edited my original post I've noticed the same thing lately and have just assumed that they're skipping it now because they're finally able to deploy mmWave small cells.
    • At some point over the weekend, T-Mobile bumped the Omaha metro from 100+40 to 100+90 of n41! That's a pretty large increase from what we had just a few weeks ago when we were sitting at 80+40Mhz. Out of curiosity, tested a site on my way to work and pulled 1.4Gpbs. That's the fastest I've ever gotten on T-Mobile! For those that know Omaha, this was on Dodge street in Midtown so not exactly a quiet area!
    • Did you mean a different site? eNB ID 112039 has been around for years. Streetview even has it with C-band back in 2022 - https://www.google.com/maps/@40.7303042,-73.9610924,3a,24.1y,18.03h,109.66t/data=!3m8!1e1!3m6!1s2ossx06yU56AYOzREdcK-g!2e0!5s20220201T000000!6shttps:%2F%2Fstreetviewpixels-pa.googleapis.com%2Fv1%2Fthumbnail%3Fpanoid%3D2ossx06yU56AYOzREdcK-g%26cb_client%3Dmaps_sv.share%26w%3D900%26h%3D600%26yaw%3D18.027734930682684%26pitch%3D-19.664180274382204%26thumbfov%3D90!7i16384!8i8192?coh=205410&entry=ttu Meanwhile, Verizon's eNB 84484 in Fort Greene has been updated to include C-band and CBRS, but not mmWave. I've seen this a few times now on updated Verizon sites where it's just the CBRS antenna on its own, not in a shroud and without mmWave. Odd.
    • Drove out into the country today.  Dish stuck to my phone like glue. At least -120 rsrp. Likely only good for phone calls (should have tested.) It then switched to T-Mobile. Getting back on Dish was another issue. I am used to dragging out coverage so I expected a few miles, but had to drive at least 10 miles towards a Dish site. Airplane mode, which worked for Sprint, did nothing. Rebooting did nothing. Finally got it to change over about 2 miles from the site by manually setting the carrier to Dish then it had great reception. Sprint used to have a 15 minute timeout but I did not have the patience today.  Previously I did a speed test on Dish out in the country at the edge of Dish coverage. My speeds were 2g variety. Dish has really overclocked some of these sites. Seen rssp readings in the 50s. Would have called them boomer sites with Sprint but much  more common with Dish.
