Sprint LTE Coverage Maps via Sensorly

Recommended Posts

Every time I set to "no contribution" it resets to Passive. Not right away, sometimes its a couple days, but I will notice it running again even though I told it not to. This is on my GS3.

When you set it to "No Contribution" and start a map, there's a popup that will reset contribution to Active when you touch "Ok".

I've never ever had the case of Passive setting itself back on by itself and I've tried over multiple days too. Are you 100% sure ? Is this consistently the case ?

Yes, it happens regularly. I'm not sure what triggers the reset, because there doesn't seem to be a set amount of time before it resets, but I do notice that every couple of days by battery levels will crash, and it's because it has reset to Passive and is mapping in my pocket.

In fact, checking just now it has used 24% of my battery today, and is once again on Passive mode. Though I know I reset it again a couple days ago.

Is that a real 24% or is that 24% of the battery drain of the day ? The Android OS shows the latter and it's confusing to users.

Send me your anonymous id to contact@sens.... and I will investigate.

It must be of the day, because it has gone down since it said that.

That's the map cache getting you. I have seen two different maps on two different devices side by side. Just have to drag around and zoom in and out to get it to say loading on the tile layer.

There's no caching on the servers, there's an eternal cache on the device until you exit the app and there's a 30mn cache on devices between app runs.

Are you ready to release an iPhone app now? The iPhone 5 is jailbroken. I'd be ever so grateful if you did. :)

I got some 4g data points yesterday in zip 34769 but they are not yet showing on the maps. Is there a delay?

On the map I did see readings from a street not too far from where I was. I am not sure if my GPS reported corectly.

Any ideas?

If you are running a custom ROM where the dev thought it was cool to change the carrier info, the points will never show up.

Negative.. Stock version. No mods.

I am sorry, I wasn't pacific enough. In the drop down box, there is Sprint - 4g and Sprint - WiMax. Is that 4g just LTE?

Again, what is the Sensorly app and hen will it be available for iPhone?

Apple decided for you that the app is not worth while.

This doesn't work with internet explorer 10. It does but it has an error message overlaying the screen

Can u do a print screen image or tell us what the error is? I currently use windows 8 which comes with ie10 with no problems. Have you tried any other browsers?

Do you have a link that proves this is the case? I'd love to read more about this.

No source needed... it's been known that Apple doesn't like that app and Sensorly had to neuter the first go around, maybe Apple decided to kill or maybe Sensorly decided it was time to kill it since it wasn't worth it since it wouldn't map and would stop people from asking when they are going to make it map.

    • Definite usage quirks in hunting down these sites with a rainbow sim in a s24 ultra. Fell into a hole yesterday so sent off to T-Mobile purgatory. Try my various techniques. No Dish. Get within binocular range of former Sprint colocation and can see Dish equipment. Try to manually set network and everybody but no Dish is listed.  Airplane mode, restart, turn on and off sim, still no Dish. Pull upto 200ft from site straight on with antenna.  Still no Dish. Get to manual network hunting again on phone, power off phone for two minutes. Finally see Dish in manual network selection and choose it. Great signal as expected. I still think the 15 minute rule might work but lack patience. (With Sprint years ago, while roaming on AT&T, the phone would check for Sprint about every fifteen minutes. So at highway speed you could get to about the third Sprint site before roaming would end). Using both cellmapper and signalcheck.net maps to hunt down these sites. Cellmapper response is almost immediate these days (was taking weeks many months ago).  Their idea of where a site can be is often many miles apart. Of course not the same dataset. Also different ideas as how to label a site, but sector details can match with enough data (mimo makes this hard with its many sectors). Dish was using county spacing in a flat suburban area, but is now denser in a hilly richer suburban area.  Likely density of customers makes no difference as a poorer urban area with likely more Dish customers still has country spacing of sites.
    • Mike if you need more Dish data, I have been hunting down sites in western Columbus.  So far just n70 and n71 reporting although I CA all three.
    • Good catch! I meant 115932/119932. Edited my original post I've noticed the same thing lately and have just assumed that they're skipping it now because they're finally able to deploy mmWave small cells.
