Sprint LTE Coverage Maps via Sensorly

Recommended Posts

Believe what you want.

. You the same. Not going to convince me they tested a two hundred mile stretch through three different markets at the same time. And someone held an LTE stretch during this time for 75 miles at a time. I do thank you for your opinion though.

Several of the sites are marked live lte on that route. Unless you know all of the purple appeared at once it could be from several trips...so not testing at the same time. I think the 3g theory is the most likely if it's not actually 4g but like I said there are problems with that theory. It's also a possibility some sites aren't publicly broadcasting. Regardless most of that will be live in a few months so I wouldn't worry about the map at this point.

800lte will make the maps very inaccurate for those with 1900 only phones, and with the iphone out that's probably not too far away.

I think it sucks.  "If it aint broke dont fix it".  I dont know about other devices but performance of the app on my s3 is noticeably worse.

So follow the instructions earlier in the thread and downgrade.. many people have already stated that the new version performs worse.

Forgive me if this has already been addressed, but what technology is Sprint's 2G signal on Sensorly, the blue lines, referring to? From some posts AJ has written about people incorrectly referencing cellular technologies, I thought he said that sprint no longer has any 2G technologies.

my guess would be 2g is when we are roaming on someone elses network that is using 2g tech

Sprint does not have any 2G. However, there are areas where there is only a 1xRTT signal. A very few areas in the Sprint network are 1x only for the time being, and there are many areas where Sprint roams on Verizon's 1x signal. Sensorly reports this as 2G, even though it is not actually 2G.

Anyone else notice you can't zoom out all the way on the website maps anymore?  I didn't realize you could even restrict a google map's zoom range.  Please tell me it's just me cause that's really annoying, serves no purpose, and kills my ability to update my comparison maps.

Try map south jersey no purple and only do speed test what gives.

As of late it has been really slow to update the maps. I think it took at least 48 hours to update after I mapped three new towers on the eastern shore.

yes i am using the peoples Rom

If the ROM developer was an idiot and changed the carrier info then your points will never go on the map.  I know a few ROMs have this issue.  Sensorly basically doesn't know who Yo-YoDev'sROM is so it throws the points away.

from what i understand its one of the most popular roms on the GS3, for people that like samsung style roms. but want the full functionality of a custom rom. i've never ran into any issues with this rom on anything else. kinda curious as to if they will update it when 4.3 comes out for the S3. but thats another topic for another thread. thanks for the info though. i'll keep an eye out if my purple isn't showing up in the future, but i really think its the new update they did, cause i am the one that mapped richwood ky on 25, and 71/75 to the north and 25 to the south. i added punctuations so its less confusing when i type. lol

Tryying map pain now.

This passed Sunday I mapped my trip to NJ Highways &Routes 78,22,93 &248 4g was not what a expected. From home which there's only 2g.

No offense, but it is hard to decipher what you guys are trying to say. Not trying to call anyone out.. we all make typos, especially when using a phone. Just try to take a moment to proofread your post before you hit submit. If you are trying to raise an issue or ask a question, there are many of us who would love to help you out!

Just my personal two cents..

    • Since this is kind of the general chat thread, I have to share this humorous story (at least it is to me): Since around February/March of this year, my S22U has been an absolute pain to charge. USB-C cables would immediately fall out and it progressively got worse and worse until it often took me a number of minutes to get the angle of the cable juuuussst right to get charging to occur at all (not exaggerating). The connection was so weak that even walking heavily could cause the cable to disconnect. I tried cleaning out the port with a stable, a paperclip, etc. Some dust/lint/dirt came out but the connection didn't improve one bit. Needless to say, this was a MONSTER headache and had me hating this phone. I just didn't have the finances right now for a replacement.  Which brings us to the night before last. I am angry as hell because I had spent five minutes trying to get this phone to charge and failed. I am looking in the port and I notice it doesn't look right. The walls look rough and, using a staple, the back and walls feel REALLY rough and very hard. I get some lint/dust out with the staple and it improves charging in the sense I can get it to charge but it doesn't remove any of the hard stuff. It's late and it's charging, so that's enough for now. I decide it's time to see if that hard stuff is part of the connector or not. More aggressive methods are needed! I work in a biochem lab and we have a lot of different sizes of disposable needles available. So, yesterday morning, while in the lab I grab a few different sizes of needles between 26AWG and 31 AWG. When I got home, I got to work and start probing the connector with the 26 AWG and 31 AWG needle. The stuff feels extremely hard, almost like it was part of the connector, but a bit does break off. Under examination of the bit, it's almost sandy with dust/lint embedded in it. It's not part of the connector but instead some sort of rock-hard crap! That's when I remember that I had done some rock hounding at the end of last year and in January. This involved lots of digging in very sandy/dusty soils; soils which bare more than a passing resemblance to the crap in the connector. We have our answer, this debris is basically compacted/cemented rock dust. Over time, moisture in the area combined with the compression from inserting the USB-C connector had turned it into cement. I start going nuts chiseling away at it with the 26 AWG needle. After about 5-10 minutes of constant chiseling and scraping with the 26AWG and 31AWG needles, I see the first signs of metal at the back of the connector. So it is metal around the outsides! Another 5 minutes of work and I have scraped away pretty much all of the crap in the connector. A few finishing passes with the 31AWG needle, a blast of compressed air, and it is time to see if this helped any. I plug my regular USB-C cable and holy crap it clicks into place; it hasn't done that since February! I pick up the phone and the cable has actually latched! The connector works pretty much like it did over a year ago, it's almost like having a brand new phone!
    • That's odd, they are usually almost lock step with TMO. I forgot to mention this also includes the September Security Update.
    • 417.55 MB September security update just downloaded here for S24+ unlocked   Edit:  after Sept security update install, checked and found a 13MB GP System update as well.  Still showing August 1st there however.
    • T-Mobile is selling the rest of the 3.45GHz spectrum to Columbia Capital.
    • Still nothing for my AT&T and Visible phones.
