S4GRU
I figured that. Its just odd that they dont have even a timeframe they can give. No estimated completion date. Nothing. They wont even say if its coming to the area at all. If it is not in the 6 month schedule loaded into Glance, then they have no idea. It could mean it is more than 6 months out. Or it could be that the info has not been loaded for that site.
artimis72
I was informed by sprint customer service that LTE should be up and running in the Victor, Farmington area with in the year. First time I have been given a actual time frame.

Matt.NY.Tech
LOL I understand why you may laugh but, everything I have been hearing points to an end of the year push as well.
ryman101
I moved to the city, with plenty of LTE coverage everywhere now. I am hoping the big push includes more band 41! :-D

I'm not doubting you. just curious where you saw it There is NO LTE in Farmington, NY its GMO (even though that doesnt mean much anymore) out there and I was just out there the other day and still hold true NO LTE, hes just complaining like usual. Sprint.com's map does not show LTE, just 3G. There is only one tower that serves most of Farmington and thats right by the State Troopers. Some of Farmington gets service by the other tower up the one hill going towards Victor.
johnd515
Whos just complaining as usual? If you go to sprint coverage map with the little towers with numbers in them they all in that area read 2 that stands for lte 1900 what im told from sprint. ..i will try to post

That isn't correct. Legacy backhaul upgrades are also shown as speed upgrades on that map as well. A 3G acceptance and a legacy backhaul upgrade would show up as 2 upgrades. Two legacy backhaul upgrades would show the same. None of the Victor/Farmington sites on network.sprint.com are LTE accepted.

artimis72
Thank you Mr Nuke for the right answer.I cant get anywhere with sprint CS There customer service when related to LTE is rough. A week ago they actually told me for the first time ever that, I will be getting LTE within the year. up till then it was always some generic stock answer about how they are continuing to improve coverage all the time. joshnys8913
I havent seen anything new in Rochester's market in a long time, hoping Spark will head to Canandaigua soon but no antennas have been put up yet. Must not be a priority here lol. Also I went to Geneseo, I am surprised Geneseo is still not GMO converted to LTE being a decently sized town with a pretty big college there. Oh well maybe soon we still start seening GMOs getting LTE this year.

We will be glad to welcome you, Rochester is I think (minus all the crime and poverty) is a really nice city and area (including the Finger Lakes) to be in. Buffalo and Syracuse has their offerings too though not my pick. As for Sprint in Rochester its pretty good, just for now we are missing out on 800 (B25). shaferz
Have spent the past two days in Rochester, and overall, I cant say that I am overly impressed. Admittedly, my 'home area' is extremely strong for Sprint, but Rochester seems pretty rough. At my clients office now, somewhere between 490 and the airport. Service is very good. 25mb Down/13mb Up. Hotel is the Strathallan DoubleTree. I'm facing away from East Ave, and in my 8th floor room, LTE is basically unusable. Next week am going to get a room facing the opposite direction and will see how that goes. Rochester is a weird area. From what I've seen in my 2 days and limited travel here - it seems to be either very low income areas (near the airport and clients office) or what appear to be upper income areas where the restaurants have dress codes. Went to the rooftop bar last night at the hotel. Was dressed in a work-logo'd button-down shirt and grey slacks and felt under dressed. 3/4 of the people in there had on sport coats or straight up suits. WTFMATE? Only place I felt 'comfortable' was a bar called Murphy's Law. On a cellphone-related-note, my phone kept bouncing back to 3G there, and we sat right next to the open windows. S4GRU
Rochester...a tale of two cities. It used to have a thriving middle class. Like most major rust belt cities. The middle class fled with the jobs, leaving just the poor and the upper middle class/wealthy class. Rochester still fared better than most other rust belt cities because it had a much larger white collar base than other similar cities. Otherwise it could have been a lot worse. But if it had diversified better in the 70's, it could have fared much better, retaining more of its middle class, and preventing the middle class holdouts who didn't leave from dropping into the poverty zone. Too bad - because it seems like it could be, or at least used to be, a really nice area.
joshnys8913
I have had no issues with Sprint in Rochester (with the exception of the Perinton area), but I have in Buffalo. Again I tell EVERYONE this, its a WIRELESS device, its not going to work 100% EVERYWHERE. There are some spots AT&T and Verizon are bad and Sprint is great and other places the opposite. There is no way cell phone companies can cover EVERY hotel room, every house, restaurant, etc. Its just not going to happen, there will always be gaps. However, Rochester and the area is getting a help with small cells (not going to mention which company until its announced publicly, its a private source that is reliable). Also the problem with Sprint in Rochester is 800, there is still no 800 YET, this is maybe with you were complaining of poor service and I can understand that, I wish 800 would be turned on in Rochester but I fell like it maybe very late 2015, early 2016 before we even see that. If it makes you feel any better I have a friend I hang out with a lot and this person has t-mobile and I did some testing with the phone and I have to say T-mobile is not as good as T-monile says they are, they have 700 in Rochester but its really not any better then Sprint and I did this testing in various places in the city and suburbs. I wasnt impressed with T-mobile other then all there towers in western NY are broadcasting LTE (I wish Sprint would get all the towers broadcasting LTE but thats going to take time). I am not making you feel bad or anything to offend you but it could be worse, some cities and areas have more towers and antennas then other cities. Its all good shaferz. Your probably used to 800 in your cities near you.

Kodak is well under 1,000 people there from what I hear. B&L well thats a sore subject for a lot of people in Rochester.... B&L got bought out by some company in NJ and laying off people in Rochester.
