Network Vision/LTE - Buffalo Market

Recommended Posts

The first sites in the Buffalo market were accepted today.  Two sites in the East Aurora area.  These are 3G only, for now.  But Buffalo is now moving.  Watch out now!!!

These sites will be added to the NV SItes Complete Map in the next update.

:wiggle: GREAT info Robert, thanks! I know it's only 3G for now but knowing that work is underway makes me excited for 4G soon. I had a small taste of it in Disney World last week and was floored by how fast it was. My data connection at home has been wonky the past couple weeks where it has normally been rock solid, so hopefully this is a sign of something. Thanks again for the great work!

Just a thought but will Network Vision and 4g come to grace sprint areas with just 2g or whatever Like Dunkirk and fredonia, ny .. No good 3g was one of the reasons i wouldn't go to Suny Fredonia area code 14063

if you look at the sprint map it says they have 3g and more which really just is meaning it has sprint data coverage if you go to the virgin mobile page it gives you the truth of just data coverage (not 3g) Plus i can confirm that from being there!

Aj is gonna make a a comment I can see it now. Lol. Sprint has no 2g it is 1x which is actually "3g". If I am not mistaken.

Sprint plans to upgrade all of its native sites to LTE (4G) as part of Network Vision, which will also add EVDO coverage as well. Unless this is one of the few remaining affiliate areas not run by Sprint, it should be upgraded in the next year at worst.

lol i see you learned how to quote... i still havent... help??

at the bottom of someone's post there are two buttons, multiquote and quote. I've just been using quote because I can't seem to get multi to work. Anyways I just push quote and then it pops into the reply menu on the bottom. Have you tried doing that? I don't know how much more I could help though  If that doesn't work maybe Robert or another administrator can chime in  :)

I'm really hoping that we get upgraded to 800 mhz on a lot of the towers by my house. I'm out in the sticks so our towers are far and few in between. Does anyone know how sprint is deciding on which towers receive 800? Or is this a mystery to us?

Hi, I'm pretty new here, still getting comfortable.

But does anyone know if there have been any updates on Spring 4G in the Buffalo markets?  Like some, our contracts are up and I'm really considering a change to Verizon or AT&T, but heard rumors it may be here in August 2013?   I'll wait it out another month, but after that, if no 4G after paying for it for 2yrs, I think its time to move to someone else.

Hey there

There's quite a few of updates in the Buffalo area but none yet LTE. It's only a matter of time before they can be flipped on. Hang in there - it's coming!

If you become a sponsor, you can view the map of sites that are in progress in your area.

I walked into the local sprint store near the Galleria last night to ask about 4G.

I think the girl was honest and truthful, but you never know for sure.  But I was told that it will be up and running by 12/31 at the latest, and that the store ware recently notified via email that it is coming.  And she said normally when they get that type of email, it has to start launching within 90 days.

So I would have to say a good guess would be Buffalo should have it in 3 to 6 months?

Buffalo market will likely have its first LTE site active in the next 30 days or so. It will be six months or more from launch. But as each site goes active, it will be usable to customers.

    • Since this is kind of the general chat thread, I have to share this humorous story (at least it is to me): Since around February/March of this year, my S22U has been an absolute pain to charge. USB-C cables would immediately fall out and it progressively got worse and worse until it often took me a number of minutes to get the angle of the cable juuuussst right to get charging to occur at all (not exaggerating). The connection was so weak that even walking heavily could cause the cable to disconnect. I tried cleaning out the port with a stable, a paperclip, etc. Some dust/lint/dirt came out but the connection didn't improve one bit. Needless to say, this was a MONSTER headache and had me hating this phone. I just didn't have the finances right now for a replacement.  Which brings us to the night before last. I am angry as hell because I had spent five minutes trying to get this phone to charge and failed. I am looking in the port and I notice it doesn't look right. The walls look rough and, using a staple, the back and walls feel REALLY rough and very hard. I get some lint/dust out with the staple and it improves charging in the sense I can get it to charge but it doesn't remove any of the hard stuff. It's late and it's charging, so that's enough for now. I decide it's time to see if that hard stuff is part of the connector or not. More aggressive methods are needed! I work in a biochem lab and we have a lot of different sizes of disposable needles available. So, yesterday morning, while in the lab I grab a few different sizes of needles between 26AWG and 31 AWG. When I got home, I got to work and start probing the connector with the 26 AWG and 31 AWG needle. The stuff feels extremely hard, almost like it was part of the connector, but a bit does break off. Under examination of the bit, it's almost sandy with dust/lint embedded in it. It's not part of the connector but instead some sort of rock-hard crap! That's when I remember that I had done some rock hounding at the end of last year and in January. This involved lots of digging in very sandy/dusty soils; soils which bare more than a passing resemblance to the crap in the connector. We have our answer, this debris is basically compacted/cemented rock dust. Over time, moisture in the area combined with the compression from inserting the USB-C connector had turned it into cement. I start going nuts chiseling away at it with the 26 AWG needle. After about 5-10 minutes of constant chiseling and scraping with the 26AWG and 31AWG needles, I see the first signs of metal at the back of the connector. So it is metal around the outsides! Another 5 minutes of work and I have scraped away pretty much all of the crap in the connector. A few finishing passes with the 31AWG needle, a blast of compressed air, and it is time to see if this helped any. I plug my regular USB-C cable and holy crap it clicks into place; it hasn't done that since February! I pick up the phone and the cable has actually latched! The connector works pretty much like it did over a year ago, it's almost like having a brand new phone!
    • That's odd, they are usually almost lock step with TMO. I forgot to mention this also includes the September Security Update.
    • 417.55 MB September security update just downloaded here for S24+ unlocked   Edit:  after Sept security update install, checked and found a 13MB GP System update as well.  Still showing August 1st there however.
    • T-Mobile is selling the rest of the 3.45GHz spectrum to Columbia Capital.
    • Still nothing for my AT&T and Visible phones.
