Driving to Trader Joes this morning I hit the speed test app real quick while at the stop light on Bruceville Rd and Big Horn Blvd in Elk Grove. It was 3G but I tested at 2.3Mbps down and over 1Mbps up. That has never happened in the 2 years I've lived in Elk Grove. I'm happy to get over 1Mbps down. Yes it was Sunday morning but still I've never seen speeds that fast around here. Something is going on.

Because I haven't driven by it in a while, I went by the tower at the Sprint office in Rancho, since it's been identified as In Progress for a while now. I'm still only seeing legacy antenna, no RRU additions. Now, this is the huge tower, not one of the standard towers that are all around the place, so maybe the RRUs will be placed differently. However, the tower hasn't changed since the photos I posted a few months ago.

I also did a drive down Kiefer Blvd from Rosemont, through the base by the water tower, then home. I caught LTE for a little bit while I was on Kiefer past Bradshaw by the big SMUD building, then lost the signal when I turned onto Happy Ln. Possibly bleed over from either the tower near Rosemont HS or the one on Jackson Rd., but it seems a bit far to get that signal. I haven't picked up LTE there, so I thought it was worth mentioning.

Signal on Bradshaw near Hwy 50 has been really sucky lately. It was mentioned that the nearest tower there was possibly having activity, so maybe it's signal work. I haven't seen any work being done there and I go by that tower several days a week. Still no work on the tower on Hwy 50 in Rancho either.

So, a whole lotta nothing going on work-wise, but maybe some signal work on Bradshaw. That's all I got this weekend.

That is impressive for Elk Grove. I was getting around 1.5mb down when I ran speed tests on Saturday night at that intersection, but since then its been back to .3-.5mb down. I will say that many parts of Bruceville can have close to 1mb down, which is much better than the average of .3-.6mb in most of Elk Grove. The only part of Elk Grove that I have seen consistent 1mb since early 2012 is if you live close to the Franklin/Elk Grove Blvd intersection.

As far as the speed boost off of Big Horn/Bruceville, could there be some 3G data speed upgrades going on instead? Because I live less than a quarter mile away from the Tegan tower and I'm averaging .3-4mb down. That's much closer to that tower than the Big Horn/Bruceville intersection.

Yeah I got excited to see those crazy fast 2+Mb speeds early Sunday morning (8am) but they didn't last. At the 24hr Fitness I'm back to 100-200kbps speeds and stop and go music playback on Pandora. The intersection at Bruceville/Sheldon was getting about 1.5Mbps down Sunday morning as well. Maybe another tower is in testing.

Those 2 towers on Laguna near Franklin are coming close to their 6 month mark. Hopefully we see them to see them go live soon!

Hello Everyone, just arrived. I live in Elk Grove and  have been following this thread for quite sometime. I've been running sensoryly.com in anticipation for LTE in Elk Grove, but so far nothing more than echos from towers on from the pocket area. We lost all 3G data in Elk Grove a few weeks ago which took sometime to get back up. But the rep said 30-60 days on LTE. Customer service reps are not very useful, so who knows. But I have seen LTE but so far not the speeds Sprint says it will deliver. But the Sprint 3G service is nearly non existent. I work in Stockton, Live in EG (for obvious reasons if you know the area) and 3G data in Stockton drops off to 0 around 3pm. Prior, it barely has any speed and the phone is useless.

I have lived in Stockton for 9 years now. Never had any crimes committed around my area or any thing in general. It all the depends on the area that you live in your city. It's not as bad as the media or people make it seem like. The media and people make it seem like Stockton is like Iraq.

Just compare east palo alto vs palo alto...

On the 3G part, it'll be a long time before LTE shows up. There has been lte work in Stockton . My closest towers has lte set up and confirmed by a sprint rep. Other towers around the city also have the lte antennas and equipment too. I hope it goes live.

3G like you said is useless on a phone and especially on a damn tablet. You can't connect to anything. Honestly the only time I ever use my tablet on data is when I'm on LTE. Other than the service on my iPad mini rises my blood pressure tremendously haha

So far sprint is the only carrier to not have lte in the 209. Even metro pcs has it and pisses me off when I see people I know that have metro and have lte in this area... It's worth the wait considering all the upgrades sprint is doing to their network. Hopefully we see it before this year ends *crosses fingers*

My buddy who is a radio technician has had guns pulled on him 3 times in the last few months while working at sites in Stockton.

This message brought to you in part by Sprint and the letters GS and the number 4

Like I said it all depends on the area. Every city has their ugly side. I used to live in east San Jose and Whittier. now talk about helicopters every night and waking up to gun shots most nights.

My parents had their BMW X5 broken into in Pleasanton, I had my window broken and my car stereo stolen whch didnt even work lmfao when I had a soccer game in Ripon. My brother in law leaves his Porsche cayenne turbo in his driveway everything and nothing. Who also lives in stockton. Doesn't matter where you go , you have the same chance of something happening. It's the world we live in today.

Stockton is pretty bad. No offense to anyone living there. You have a much higher chance of experiencing a crime there compared to other cities.  It's 10th nationwide for violent crime according to the 2012 info released by the FBI.

10. Stockton, California – 1,408 violent crimes per 100,000 people

I would say that's a far greater chance of something happening than pretty much anywhere. In regard to theft, Stockton ranks very high as well.

Not to get off topic, but I work on the south side of Stockton by the airport, and its pretty bad around here. Stolen cars and bodies are dumped out here. Personally, I've had gun pulled on me twice. South of teh crosstown is bad. North is better. But no, its not Iraq but its far from Mayberry.

Has it gotten worse there since the 1990s? I lived in Stockton as a kid in the mid 90's and I was part of a failed kidnapping attempt. Turns out those guys worked at my elementary school and never got caught. There were parts of Stockton that were upper class living but for the most part I saw some crazy things in Stockton back then.

Great 4G speeds outside the UCD Med Clinic on Douglas and Roseville Pkwy in Roseville. I lost it when I went inside, though. gu5a7u6e.jpg

Very nice! I went to dinner at Tahoe Joe's the other week and made sure to announce to my family members that I had 4G while we were driving around on roseville parkway. They all have ATT so they weren't impressed. lol

I ended up running Sensorly from the clinic in Roseville to Sac State via I-80, then to Rancho via 50. Signal Check told me I hit a patch of LTE at Bus-80 and Marconi.

    • Since this is kind of the general chat thread, I have to share this humorous story (at least it is to me): Since around February/March of this year, my S22U has been an absolute pain to charge. USB-C cables would immediately fall out and it progressively got worse and worse until it often took me a number of minutes to get the angle of the cable juuuussst right to get charging to occur at all (not exaggerating). The connection was so weak that even walking heavily could cause the cable to disconnect. I tried cleaning out the port with a stable, a paperclip, etc. Some dust/lint/dirt came out but the connection didn't improve one bit. Needless to say, this was a MONSTER headache and had me hating this phone. I just didn't have the finances right now for a replacement.  Which brings us to the night before last. I am angry as hell because I had spent five minutes trying to get this phone to charge and failed. I am looking in the port and I notice it doesn't look right. The walls look rough and, using a staple, the back and walls feel REALLY rough and very hard. I get some lint/dust out with the staple and it improves charging in the sense I can get it to charge but it doesn't remove any of the hard stuff. It's late and it's charging, so that's enough for now. I decide it's time to see if that hard stuff is part of the connector or not. More aggressive methods are needed! I work in a biochem lab and we have a lot of different sizes of disposable needles available. So, yesterday morning, while in the lab I grab a few different sizes of needles between 26AWG and 31 AWG. When I got home, I got to work and start probing the connector with the 26 AWG and 31 AWG needle. The stuff feels extremely hard, almost like it was part of the connector, but a bit does break off. Under examination of the bit, it's almost sandy with dust/lint embedded in it. It's not part of the connector but instead some sort of rock-hard crap! That's when I remember that I had done some rock hounding at the end of last year and in January. This involved lots of digging in very sandy/dusty soils; soils which bare more than a passing resemblance to the crap in the connector. We have our answer, this debris is basically compacted/cemented rock dust. Over time, moisture in the area combined with the compression from inserting the USB-C connector had turned it into cement. I start going nuts chiseling away at it with the 26 AWG needle. After about 5-10 minutes of constant chiseling and scraping with the 26AWG and 31AWG needles, I see the first signs of metal at the back of the connector. So it is metal around the outsides! Another 5 minutes of work and I have scraped away pretty much all of the crap in the connector. A few finishing passes with the 31AWG needle, a blast of compressed air, and it is time to see if this helped any. I plug my regular USB-C cable and holy crap it clicks into place; it hasn't done that since February! I pick up the phone and the cable has actually latched! The connector works pretty much like it did over a year ago, it's almost like having a brand new phone!
    • That's odd, they are usually almost lock step with TMO. I forgot to mention this also includes the September Security Update.
    • 417.55 MB September security update just downloaded here for S24+ unlocked   Edit:  after Sept security update install, checked and found a 13MB GP System update as well.  Still showing August 1st there however.
    • T-Mobile is selling the rest of the 3.45GHz spectrum to Columbia Capital.
    • Still nothing for my AT&T and Visible phones.
