Network Vision/LTE - Minnesota Market

That sounds like a question that will require that you "become a sponsor".

Also, the answer is zero. MN will never have LTE, ever.

I read that sprint is pulling the sites they DO have completed out so they can complete Chicago as they need more radio parts..

Guys, some members are a bit slow on the uptake. So, please do not tease with intentionally inaccurate info. Or if you do wish to joke around a bit, please use an emoticon to let others know that you are not serious.

;)

Sorry, but I do not believe this. They wouldn't do that now.

No blake, they were just teasing/playing around with member ott3r.

As AJ mentioned, not indicating a statement is a joke/tease can result in those reading the statement to think its true. It can starts a cascading wave of misinformation that does no one any good.

Please members, if you are teasing your fellow member or pulling their leg, make sure you indicate it as such.

I drove by the tower AA/FC posted pics on yesterday:

By seeing what's going on here I have reason to believe it's the same crew that was working on a tower close to central-west Bloomington and I believe it may be AT&T not Sprint:

Here you can see the guy working on the right side of the 3rd collar from the bottom.

The objects that look like RRUs to be don't look like the RRUs from Samsung that all the local sites are getting.

See:

Here's an example of what a local Sprint LTE setup looks like:

I was at my parents house this weekend in st cloud and was very surprised when my phone switched to 4g so I did some mapping, hopefully I'll be able to map some more tomorrow

I live about an hour away from there. Awesome to hear they are getting closer and closer! :D

Picture time:

The tower on the left (to the left of the storage facility) is the one both myself and AA/FC posted. The tower on the right side of the screen (to the right of the storage facility) I believe is the Sprint tower for that area.

Some interesting stuff there, it looks like there's both legacy cabinets and the LTE cabinets (it's hard to see due to the immense amount of brush against the fence keeping the facility secure).

But there's no sign of any other LTE stuff happening there - the top antenna array is pure 3G and the bottom collar is weird - it looks EMPTY. You can see cables snaking out of the pole to the edge but it doesn't appear there's any elements in operation unless they are very thin or a type I'm in familiar with. Mophomanners will know.

Don't try driving back there, it's literally slippierier than an ice rink and to get a closer look at cabinets on the ground you'd have to park in the middle of a driveway, cross snow covered railroad tracks and peek thru a fence that is mostly covered with foliage.

As some of you know, I live in Willmar MN. I was looking at sensorly today and I see purple in Kandiohi, like 10 minutes from my house! Idk if this is wrong or what this is...

When I saw it on Sensorly a couple days ago I thought of you. It's only 10 minutes from your house, you should go check it out, and report back. Don't forget to run Sensorly.

This is odd. I almost never check network.sprint.com since nothing ever seems to change for my area there but now it has: it claims: 14 voice upgrades, 30 data capacity upgrades, 41 data speed upgrades and 1 new tower. I wonder where the new tower would be? That's for Bloomington MN. I clicked on all the icons and none of them reflect "1 new tower".

    • Definite usage quirks in hunting down these sites with a rainbow sim in a s24 ultra. Fell into a hole yesterday so sent off to T-Mobile purgatory. Try my various techniques. No Dish. Get within binocular range of former Sprint colocation and can see Dish equipment. Try to manually set network and everybody but no Dish is listed.  Airplane mode, restart, turn on and off sim, still no Dish. Pull upto 200ft from site straight on with antenna.  Still no Dish. Get to manual network hunting again on phone, power off phone for two minutes. Finally see Dish in manual network selection and choose it. Great signal as expected. I still think the 15 minute rule might work but lack patience. (With Sprint years ago, while roaming on AT&T, the phone would check for Sprint about every fifteen minutes. So at highway speed you could get to about the third Sprint site before roaming would end). Using both cellmapper and signalcheck.net maps to hunt down these sites. Cellmapper response is almost immediate these days (was taking weeks many months ago).  Their idea of where a site can be is often many miles apart. Of course not the same dataset. Also different ideas as how to label a site, but sector details can match with enough data (mimo makes this hard with its many sectors). Dish was using county spacing in a flat suburban area, but is now denser in a hilly richer suburban area.  Likely density of customers makes no difference as a poorer urban area with likely more Dish customers still has country spacing of sites.
    • Mike if you need more Dish data, I have been hunting down sites in western Columbus.  So far just n70 and n71 reporting although I CA all three.
    • Good catch! I meant 115932/119932. Edited my original post I've noticed the same thing lately and have just assumed that they're skipping it now because they're finally able to deploy mmWave small cells.
