They finally must be ramping up B41.  If you look Sprint's coverage map its showing Spark covering the entire metro (however we all know that isn't true).  Here is hoping to Ames soon...

Ok I am going bananas here...for the last 2 weeks this tower in Ames has not been right.  Every 30 minutes or so it will completely drop LTE data with LTE connection remaining strong.  My 6P will just sit and spin....then about 5 minutes later it starts to work again.  Almost as if the tower itself rebooted or something.  Anyone know if they are working on this tower or should I contact Sprint?

contact sprint. there aren't any upgrades happening right now so its most likely a tower issue.

While that is good, I never understood why run a speed test on roaming. That's 30 megabytes minimum which could be anywhere from 10-30% of your roaming allotment. Just keep that in mind.

Speed on the LTE ROAMING

Are you positive you were roaming on LTE. In the past "Extended LTE" on an iPhone indicated a roaming 1x signal, but native LTE.

We would need to see the field test screen to confirm that you were in fact roaming on LTE. Is your S4GRU profile up to date indicating you have an iPhone 5?

heads up to those still in the central iowa market :) they have started firing up LTE on GMO towers outside of the metro area. so that nice giant LTE hole along I-35 between the des moines metro and ames is now mostly covered with LTE :)

Why would you ask if it was roaming though? GMOs are getting LTE. They are already Sprint sites.

Because I'm still new to this app and trying to get use to what exactly you guys are talking about. I'm gathering all my information from you guys because you're all my trusted sources

I set this account up last year and haven't been on in awhile plus it was meant to be a joke. I'm a diehard Sprint fan that wants to see them succeed but this LTE rollout has been a nightmare to watch unfold. I just hope small cells in SoCal as well as the reband 800 LTE is cleared up soon to roll out both.

I-35 between Ankeny and Ames now has LTE, its native, they turned LTE on a GMO tower that didn't have LTE until now.

based on the Sprint coverage map there is a decent size gab of coverage along I-35 between Ankeny and Ames. Just curious is that accurate or do the towers north and south of the gap reach out far enough?

their coverage map hasn't updated yet, but there is a GMO tower just north of huxley, IA that just got accepted with LTE as a GMO last week. it fills in most of that gap, not all of it, but enough to make it better than it was.

The gap doesn't even show 3G coverage. So unless the map is inaccurate with the range of coverage this is a prime location for a new tower on a Nextel site. Or rebuild the surrounding GMO sites so they have B26 for farther range. the location more specifically is south of Huxley and north of Ankeny

must just be a map issue then. being a premier sponsor you can check our maps in the IA/NE threads to see where the towers are. trust me there is one there and it has 1x/EVDO and now LTE. and yeah it could use a full build conversion to get 1x800/B26 to help with coverage but its a low priority tower that just finally got LTE 3 years after all the full builds did around here, so its not going full build anytime soon.

yeah i can see the tower. what i was trying to say was there is a section of roaming along i-35 on sprints coverage map. I guess what your saying is sprints coverage map just isn't accurate. im just used to it overstating coverage not understating it.

lol yeah they seem to have gone the opposite direction this time, wouldn't surprise me either if they forgot they had a tower there ;) i just drove up to huxley last weekend along I-35 and between the ankeny towers and the new GMO LTE i had LTE the entire time.

    • Long time lurker here, long time SCP user.  FYI...  I'm the guy in the bar that had SC on his phone!  LOL First, I just wanted to thank you for this awesome tool.   Second, I do have an occasional freezing of the app on my Galaxy S20 Ultra.  It's usually when switching back and forth between the engineering screen to check CA, SCP, and the Speedtest app, to make sure it's still running.  I have to go in and force close it to get it to run again. Now for a question: how accurate is the distance from the tower in SCP?  I've had a few times that I can't figure out where it's picking up a tower, and now that I think about it, it could be a SC.  Since the S20 U is now on T-Mobile, there are no site notes for the towers, and I'm trying to figure out where they are!
    • So, I'm late to the party here.  Columbus, Ohio market.  I've had my S20 Ultra since a few days after launch (late pre-order) so I've been through the stuff mentioned through this thread.  My issue is 5G.  Before 5G was turned on, my speeds on T-Mobile were great!  Maybe a bit slower than Sprint in a speedtest, but latency was better, and it "felt" faster.  Then 5G was turned on, and I found out to check in the *#0011# service mode screen to see if n71 was working.  It was, I was happy.  Within a couple days, that totally changed.  It seemed that I rarely got n71, and data was SLOW, maybe 1/3 of the speed as before 5G was turned on.  When I do see n71, speeds are really good. For instance, 2 days ago, it was hitting n71 without active data transferring.  Then yesterday and today, not even a blip of n71 when actively transferring.  I found that switching the network mode to LTE/CDMA got my speeds back to good.  It seems that I must get a profile update push when not looking and it turns 5G back on, or if I have to restart and forget to reset it.   Is anyone else seeing this behavior?
    • Just got off the phone with a Sprint Business rep. According to him the cell site nearest me is now running n41. Which explains why my LTE-41 speeds are a fraction of what they were a few months back. He mentioned a pretty awesome deal on an S20 if I sign a contract, with a $10 price increase per month in exchange for going from 3 GB of hotspot to 50 GB (which I've wanted anyway), so chances are good I'll bump up to the S20. Apparently it's still a Business Fusion plan so I don't have to pay $$$ extra per month for the phone either. Anyone heard of a $55/mo (or $75/mo) Business Fusion plan with 50GB of hotspot? Any video/VPN throttling to speak of there?
