jefbal99
Hello strangers!!! SURPRISE! I'm not done.. I am *way* behind on my e-mail and S4GRU threads, and have not had much time to work on the app over the past several months. But I'm lurking. And have been (slowly) working on an update to include the new API features. As I've privately told a few of you, I'm just crazy busy with other things in life and at work. Everything is great, just not enough time in the day. Looking forward to being as active as I used to be. Sincere apologies for giving anyone the impression that the app was dead and I appreciate your patience. SignalCheck had hit a point of stability where I felt like I could let it simmer for a bit without a huge impact to users. Not because I don't enjoy working on it, just because I was burning the candle at both ends and real life takes priority sometimes. Maintaining the app could probably be a (terrible-paying) full-time job but it's still a fun hobby to me. I'm slowly but surely working through all the e-mails and posts. It's all good! -Mike Mike is the same beta testing group still in existence?
Joski1624
I've been meaning to mention that SCP incorrectly identifies B41 small cells here as either B25 (Nexus 5X), or just plain LTE on some of my other devices.
mikejeep
Mike is the same beta testing group still in existence? Yep, everyone that was there is still good to go. I don't expect to change that anytime soon. Quick update on recent progress to reassure everyone.. I have spent many hours over the past few weeks trying to bring SignalCheck up to date by switching to the new Android Studio development environment as well as implementing the new Android permissions model required if you compile for Android 6.0 or higher. I had been skirting both of these mandates by using older software and compiling it for Android 5.0, but obviously there are many new features (yes, I have seen all of your e-messages!) that would be great to add into the app. It has been a far more cumbersome process than I anticipated, and I'm not very comfortable with the new IDE yet. But I'm putting the work in, so stay tuned! -Mike

Trip
Mike, I'd like to report a bug that I hope is pretty easy to fix. When my new AT&T phone is connected to Band 30, the app display works fine, but the notification icon, rather than showing "LTE" without a band number (I remember your explanation about the icons), simply freezes on the last value it had. See this picture I took of a Band 30 site this morning after using Network Signal Guru to force my phone onto it from Band 2: http://imgur.com/ZNfw55i You can't see from the picture, but all the text in the pull-down menu also freezes on the last value. In lieu of making special "LTE 30" icons for it, just using the generic "LTE" icon would at least fix the display. - Trip
jefbal99
I check my app updates daily, hopefully for something new, but alas, mikejeep is still working on it
chamb
Anybody know what this Signal check screen is showing. A friend sent it to me. This friend does not know how to get into engineering screens and see what he really has found. Signal check is not identifying the band. It is a galaxy S-7 Edge phone. This is in Tucson, Arizona within a dog park.

dkyeager
Will we see this in San Diego? We are observing that areas without B26 tend to get consolation prizes of other bandwidth at sites. For example Cleveland got second Carrier in a big way before other markets.
greenbastard
Probably just coincidence. Didn't San Francisco get a second B25 carrier even though they only own a total of 30 MHz of PCS+G block spectrum?

Joski1624
More B25 10x10 data for SC. Nice to see that you've got 10x10. I'm just curious as to why you're posting these screenshots here instead of in SC related threads, or do they not exist?

jefbal99
This is for the Signal Check app, not reporting individual counties
nowerlater
I see he is reporting earfcn changes so it can be added to signal check. While this is awesome, you can also use the send diagnostic link in signal checks menu so your not cluttering or, as like me personally, getting people excited as there might be a signal check update. Your intentions are great, really, but the same can be done in the app and it gets to Mikejeep quicker. Glad to see more 10x10 popping up though. Sent from my Pixel XL aka LS997 A reminder for me as well as I also did the same thing by reporting here that SCP wasn't recognizing a band on our mini-macros and B41 small cells
Dkoellerwx
This is for the Signal Check app, not reporting individual counties He used SC instead of SCP like most of us are used to. He is showing how ALU markets are showing a 10x10 second carrier using the 11/12/13 GCI endings and that SCP doesn't know what to do with them yet. Just a friendly reminder for Mike
