Anybody else starting to get null values in their LTE log? It has been working fine for me until yesterday.

Almost all of my entries since I updated on the 22nd are showing null in the first export I have done as well. About 99% of the entries show null.

If possible, could you both e-mail your actual log databases to support@bluelinepc.com -- just want to start by making sure it's the actual log and not an issue with the CSV export. The database can be found at /data/data/com.blueline.signalcheck/databases/signalcheck_log.db; you may need to be rooted or grab it from a PC connection.

Thanks,

It's on the way had to send two emails because Gmail couldn't accept the file until I copied to SD card

Band 41 still does not show

Me too. Still not showing band 41 on my new s5 in nyc

it actually occasionally stops showing B41 and the plmn id in debug shows 311870 which I believe is the correct number.

How did you get the band number to display like that on the status bar pulldown? I didn't see that at all today when I was on B26.

Hmm it doesn't show on my S5 which LTE band I'm on :/

I received diagnostics from some of you, thanks. I didn't realize you all had an S4T, S5, or G2. Unfortunately, some of it is out of my hands. SignalCheck always relies on the PLMN to determine the provider, and also Sprint LTE band 41. There are several different Android methods to retrieve the PLMN, and SignalCheck uses the most reliable one.

The S4T and S5 suffer from the same issue; both always report the "home" PLMN (in Sprint's case, 310120) to Android, no matter what it is actually connected to. The Samsung enginerring screens may be correct, but that's not what the system is reporting. This bug has existed since the S4T was released, but I was hoping the KitKat update fixed it, since they did address the missing LTE data. Until a baseband update comes out for these phones, SignalCheck will not show any B41 indicators. I have sent another note to Samsung about it.

The G2 issue is odd.. it's also an issue with the system software, but as Vince reported, it's only wrong some of the time. I might be able to implement a workaround specific to the G2 that makes it more reliable.

Thanks,

-Mike

Does the Samsung mega or s4 mini suffer from this affliction as well?

Thanks again for the work, boo on Samsung. Band 26 does show up just fine in SCP though. So there's that. Now I just need more band 26.

Any triband Samsung device suffers this problem. Older single band devices may have as well but was never detected as 310-120 was the PLMNID for the B25 network.

I just got the wifi calling system update last night on my Galaxy S4T and I noticed under the Provider section, it now says: Unknown (3100).

This morning (when I first noticed it), on the pull down, it said LTE (3100) but now says LTE (Sprint). Not sure what's going on. It may not be related to the update but I noticed it a few hours after the update was applied.

The GCI is still reading correctly.

Any ideas?

I'm not sure; it is not unreasonable to think that Samsung uses a lot of similar internal code on radios for different devices, but nobody has reported anything to me yet. The dead giveaway will be if SignalCheck reports PLMN 310120 and the enginerring screen shows something different. I am also not sure how other flavors of the S5 (Verizon, AT&T, etc.) are affected.

B26 relies on the PLMN being 310120, and since that's what is always shown, it works. Unless B41 sites start popping up with GCIs that end in 0F/1A/1B, etc..

If you couldn't tell by reading some of the recent posts, Samsung radios don't always behave properly.. many are affected by the 3100[00] bug. Send a diagnostic report (About > Send Diagnostics) next time you see it and I will take a look, but there are workarounds in place that try to get around it.

Does anyone know if a new baseband was included with the WiFi Calling update? That could explain some of the hiccups that people started reporting this week..

I just got your report. I have no idea how SignalCheck can figure out you are on Sprint, because every available method of retrieving the PLMN was reporting 310-0 at the time of your report with a home provider name of "Samsung" or "Chameleon". That's a mess.

Oh I believed you -- I saw Sprint was being displayed in the report as well -- I was just saying that I have no idea how the app figured that out. It must have seen 310-120 at some point along the way, however briefly.. otherwise it's pure magic. In any case, good for me I guess, LOL! ;)

EDIT: Just noticed the notification pulldown says "Samsung" at the bottom too. That's supposed to show your provider's name, not be a subtle advertisement.. but I know where it's getting that data from!

I didn't notice that until you pointed it out. The pull down now went back to saying LTE (ID: 3100). Weird.

Mine seems to be working again after clearing all logs and uninstalling and reinstalling SCP. Six values logged after doing that with no null values. Also, I sent my dB in an email late last night.

Well I just started doing this but then stopped because I'd rather not lose my notes. I'm already spoiled by them. It looks like an import function is possibly planned in a future release I'd like to load the locations of all the known towers in my immediate area since I don't recognize all of the GCI at first glance to realize if this is known or not.

Does showing the LTE and 3g frequencies only show on certain devices? I cannot see them...

Yes. I believe HTC devices are the only ones that show frequency on scp.

I have the stock firmware.  I still am not able to see the GCI with yesterday's update.  I forgot to send the report when I was over there yesterday (I sent one last week though).  I'll send another one later today.  Also, I'll try some other towers when I go down to Denver this weekend.

I sent a report late in the day on the 23rd and just sent another one within the last hour (both with "dwilson6 on s4gru" in the username/email field).  I went to a few sites in Fort Collins and no GCI was shown at any of them.

I finally got around to getting my market's site notes loaded into SCP. Here is a broad overview of what I did:

  • exported fusion table data to .csv file.
  • cleared all data from file except notes column and GCI (There was a lot of other data I didn't need for this so I got rid of it,)
  • added column for plmn and inserted value (since this is needed to identify site)
  • cleared log on phone and pulled it to my PC. (I wanted it blank since it stops searching at the first GCI match)
  • opened DB and created additional table called import
  • imported csv file to import
  • Ran SQL line: insert into sites_lte ('user_ note', plmn, gci)
select usernote, plmn, gci from import
  • Saved DB and pushed it back to my phone.
Seems to be working fine so far, just need to finish putting notes with some sites do a little clean up.

Is it normal to show 1x 800 on both notifications.? Never seen this before.

...

Sent from my SM-G900P using Tapatalk

Yes it's normal if you have hide duplicate 1x notification unchecked 1x800 voice then 1x800 data.

    • Unable to confirm if it's really off but I noticed this morning that I'm no longer connecting to Band 41 on my home site. Switching my phone to LTE-only pretty much always put me on Band 41 since it was the least used band on T-Mobile's network. Now I'm only able to connect to Band 2/66. Not complaining because it means speeds are faster on LTE and maybe 150MHz n41 is around the corner.

    • Definite usage quirks in hunting down these sites with a rainbow sim in a s24 ultra. Fell into a hole yesterday so sent off to T-Mobile purgatory. Try my various techniques. No Dish. Get within binocular range of former Sprint colocation and can see Dish equipment. Try to manually set network and everybody but no Dish is listed.  Airplane mode, restart, turn on and off sim, still no Dish. Pull upto 200ft from site straight on with antenna.  Still no Dish. Get to manual network hunting again on phone, power off phone for two minutes. Finally see Dish in manual network selection and choose it. Great signal as expected. I still think the 15 minute rule might work but lack patience. (With Sprint years ago, while roaming on AT&T, the phone would check for Sprint about every fifteen minutes. So at highway speed you could get to about the third Sprint site before roaming would end). Using both cellmapper and signalcheck.net maps to hunt down these sites. Cellmapper response is almost immediate these days (was taking weeks many months ago).  Their idea of where a site can be is often many miles apart. Of course not the same dataset. Also different ideas as how to label a site, but sector details can match with enough data (mimo makes this hard with its many sectors). Dish was using county spacing in a flat suburban area, but is now denser in a hilly richer suburban area.  Likely density of customers makes no difference as a poorer urban area with likely more Dish customers still has country spacing of sites.
