All I want for Christmas is for one of Robert's "internal" sources to confirm that NV work is underway in Michigan (preferably the West Michigan market ;))

I wouldn't be surprised if it is. I saw a crew running new fiber to a cell site here in town on Wednesday, the only two carriers on it are Sprint and Verizon (formerly an Alltel site). They wouldn't confirm nor deny that it was for Sprint but said it wasn't for Verizon.

I should drive by your house with my VZW hotspot on, titled "FBIsurveillance316" to add to your paranoid hysteria. :hah:

All I want for Christmas is for LA metro NV production to ramp up dramatically for a release in Feb/March 2013 release. Also some news on how 800 mhz LTE testing is going would be nice.

Also for the world to not end after today. Very important since I want to experience LTE on sprint

Is the Upper Peninsula currently frozen over? And is it hell? If yes on both counts, then you might have a chance.

An iPad mini. That's all, really. Now if someone wants to send me an iPad, I'm accepting donations.

I've been in line before you for one. :P

Just an iPad mini? I can offer both of you something even better. Maxipads. My ex girlfriend left behind a whole box here at the house.

In UP Michigan, they are waiting until winter to install the NV equipment. Then they can just walk up to the towers on snowshoes and replace the equipment without climbing the tower. The base equipment will require a technodrome from TMNT

Yuck!

I want one for business purposes, and a full size iPad is just too much.

We've already got enough of those in the house.

And I'm kind of leaning toward an iPad 2. I know it's old, but the 7.9 screen on the mini might be too small.

Refurb ipad 3's are $379 from apple direct. They have siri and the higher res displays.

You could also get one locally for a cheaper price. If they want more than $380 point them to the apple site, they'll come down ;)

    • Definite usage quirks in hunting down these sites with a rainbow sim in a s24 ultra. Fell into a hole yesterday so sent off to T-Mobile purgatory. Try my various techniques. No Dish. Get within binocular range of former Sprint colocation and can see Dish equipment. Try to manually set network and everybody but no Dish is listed.  Airplane mode, restart, turn on and off sim, still no Dish. Pull upto 200ft from site straight on with antenna.  Still no Dish. Get to manual network hunting again on phone, power off phone for two minutes. Finally see Dish in manual network selection and choose it. Great signal as expected. I still think the 15 minute rule might work but lack patience. (With Sprint years ago, while roaming on AT&T, the phone would check for Sprint about every fifteen minutes. So at highway speed you could get to about the third Sprint site before roaming would end). Using both cellmapper and signalcheck.net maps to hunt down these sites. Cellmapper response is almost immediate these days (was taking weeks many months ago).  Their idea of where a site can be is often many miles apart. Of course not the same dataset. Also different ideas as how to label a site, but sector details can match with enough data (mimo makes this hard with its many sectors). Dish was using county spacing in a flat suburban area, but is now denser in a hilly richer suburban area.  Likely density of customers makes no difference as a poorer urban area with likely more Dish customers still has country spacing of sites.
    • Mike if you need more Dish data, I have been hunting down sites in western Columbus.  So far just n70 and n71 reporting although I CA all three.
    • Good catch! I meant 115932/119932. Edited my original post I've noticed the same thing lately and have just assumed that they're skipping it now because they're finally able to deploy mmWave small cells.
