Network Vision/LTE - Tucson/Yuma Market

Recommended Posts

According to sensorly something went live in Midtown, near TMC. Someone should go check it out!

I'm at Glenn & Columbus and have been getting 4G for a couple weeks now. Here's a screenshot (the correct one this time, though I recognize it's not super close to the source). I can try to hone in on the source in the next couple days.

Also, TechSmurf, you mentioned awhile ago that you needed Samsung screenshots for Bisbee. I'll be heading there soon, but I'm not familiar with the area. So any particular spot you want screenshots for? Otherwise it'll be random, probably located near the best bars :-)

Bisbee only seems to have one site broadcasting so anything should work.

Sensorly shows a healthy chunk of signal on Kolb between Speedway and Broadway now. Also likely a new site broadcasting.

I'm at the LA Fitness on 1st and I'm getting full LTE bars outside where as I usually only get a few.

Inside I would only get 3G and now I'm permanently on LTE... Perhaps a new tower?

Man, the wait is killing me! I wish they would get fiber to the cortaro I-10 tower or really anyhting north of ina rd at this point. Im picking up Lte more and more driving out of my way but it would be nice to get something up here :P

They have had crews digging around the one by my apartment under the road from where a century link hub is and i also saw a truck by the one on la cholla and ina but still nothing yet.

A new tower came online today on the NW side. now the Ina and Thornydale intersection is covered.  I have mapped it out on Sensorly and will post the technical details in sponsor section.  Sensorly map should updated by tomorrow. Getting closer to more NW coverage.

My girlfriends phone was able to pick up the Speedway and Kolb tower yesterday but it's not a very strong tower. After getting a major street away it fades away

Well speeds and coverage is improving in Yuma.

Yesterday I had roaming on verizon's system (1xRTT) at the college and today 4G. With good speeds.

It's getting better.....

Lateck,

Lateck,

I'm happy for you guys. Yuma was one of the worst Sprint 3G areas in the country.

I just mapped the new tower down by 8E and 32nd street. I also have LTE engineering screens for all three sectors.  I will upload them in a few minutes

Mapped a tower in testing that came on yesterday afternoon. I-19/Grand Ave in Nogales. Still can't get the engineering screens to show up on cyanogenmod.

Based on sensorly's data I'm not sure which site lit up. Signal seems weaker close to the tower along 19.

A site just east of the Tucson Mall is showing an additional upgrade on Sprint's network map, suggesting possible LTE. It also happens to be the closest site to your LA Fitness. Check out https://network.sprint.com/AZ/Tucson/

A workmate of mine just got an email from her son who stated he had 4G LTE connection in Benson/St. David. I cannot conform this as I am in Sierra Vista.

Just stepped outside at work. Sierra Vista East end of town on 92 bypass. I picked up 4G LTE at 11.54 Mbps download and 1.34 Mbps download.  Signal check lite had it at -113 dBm. This is probably from the Frytown tower as my closest tower is less than 1/2 mile and I get a very strong 3G signal from it. I also got a short connections for 4G LTE at my desk at -117dBm but is soon switched back to 3G and my closest tower. Woo Woo maybe just maybe We will have 4G LTE in Sierra Vista soon.

This jives with my earlier report in the sponsor thread ;)

Would love engineering and sensorly if possible.

Sensorly is showing strong signals previously not noted at Tanque Verde/Wrightstown and on UofA campus.

    • Thanks! I build non carrier compliant but still compliant machines so if you need one before T-Mo builds one I am here.
    • I just found this out myself on the s10e. Download the Samsung Band Selection app and you can set it back to wifi if you want. Dumb that there is no menu option for it natively.
    • So I got the Pebble from Sprint, I'm waiting for the damn VoLTE to enable. I harassed Sprint and they said it is a limitation of the device (which they still can't explain why) and waiting is the only option. They also told me every time there is a power failure the wait for it to enable begins again.... really? Does anyone know how it works and why there is a 2-3 week lead up to VoLTE enabling? So now my voice calls drop down to 1x and I can't receive MMS when I'm on a call. No problem I thought, I'll just switch to wifi calling for now and I can still get MMS over LTE while I'm on a call. Not so fast. For some damn reason wifi calling doesn't work on my SM-G970U1 (unlocked s10e) when I'm connected to the Pebble. If I turn airplane mode on, wifi calling pops right up. If I unplug the pebble, wifi calling pops right up. That leads one to believe the Pebble is preventing wifi calling from activating for some reason. However, my dad's LG V20 has absolutely no issue using wifi calling while connected to the Pebble and can therefore receive MMS just fine. Do you have any idea what in the hell could be causing this? Is this some whack setting on the s10e which I'm not seeing? Phone has the latest updates, 911 is updated, I did PRL and profile updates. I'm stumped....   UPDATE: So I found the answer in the wifi-calling menus and googling that took me to a post here. Apparently starting in April of 2020, Sprint decided it knows what is best for you so it sets calling over the network to preferred and only if signal is too weak will it default to wifi calling. There is no visible option in the phone to change that setting. I had to download Samsung Band app to set it to prefer wifi and bam.... now it is enabled. I'd still like to know WTF the Pebble is doing with VoLTE though.
