Well I have been getting this signal quality for the past 2 months. So something tells me it's just propagation issues.

I have noticed that after the towers around here were accepted to 3G, there has been far more areas with low signal levels.

Thats strange..

I just don't know for sure. Im loosing faith every week of horrible service.....tbh I have never heard these forums to be grave sounding....but Im still holding on :)

So, Most of Sprint's tech support and store reps have been very positive about explaninig that LTE will be lit up in the next three months.  This means that prior to the 3 months, we sould start seeing towers broadcasting LTE until they reach the point of 40% to anounce the market?  If I'm not mistaken, this has been the pattern for most of the makets that have been announced so far??

40% of the towers can be accepted with the new NV / LTE equipment however until they install the fiber backhaul, it is kind of moot.

A site isn't LTE accepted without the appropriate backhaul.

3g accepted sites can still be on legacy backhaul. 

 

They can also be 3G accepted and still broadcasting on legacy equipment as well for a variety of reasons. In some cases, even less equipment than was there previously if a legacy panel needed to be removed to make room for the new NV panel. This would account for degraded service after the "upgrade".

I've been tracking the signals around the entire city of Tucson every day for the past month. Today, 8/11/13, there must be some serious back haul work, or some kind of work goin on because my Erpdh signal switched back and forth to EVDO, and sometimes it goes out completely just left with 1xRTT running at -88 dBm, Ec/lo: -2.0 db.

The strangest part of the whole thing is that my AirRaid 2.5 has went on the blink showing all flashing red lcd's except solid green on the bottom one. It will then go all solid green for 1 minute, only to return to blinking red again. Coincidence? Who knows.

I suspect because this is ONLY happening late in the evenings for 4 consecutive days.

 

Any thoughts?

I'm going to keep this thread informed the best I can on a daily basis to help us Tucsonians up to speed on Sprint's 4G/LTE rollout process. As we have kept the faith and believe that sticking with Sprint through thick and thin will have a big payoff in the end. All the band wagon jumpers will regret ever leaving. We will have one of the best products out in the market.

 

Keep the Faith and stay informed fellow Sprinters!

I am getting real impatient! Last year I passed on the iPhone 5 and stayed with my 4S because there is no LTE. Apple will announce a new iPhone next month and I am getting it on an LTE network, hopefully Sprint will have at least one LTE tower in Tucson by then to keep me, otherwise it is Verizon baby!

Very strange activity today in Tucson as well. Erpdh dropping off to EVDO.....and slow EVDO, and I mean slow ...to no signal at all. There MUST be some stirring of the 4G pot here in Tucson.

It is 2G in the whole east side today, can't even get emails, something is going on!

      Definite usage quirks in hunting down these sites with a rainbow sim in a s24 ultra. Fell into a hole yesterday so sent off to T-Mobile purgatory. Try my various techniques. No Dish. Get within binocular range of former Sprint colocation and can see Dish equipment. Try to manually set network and everybody but no Dish is listed.  Airplane mode, restart, turn on and off sim, still no Dish. Pull upto 200ft from site straight on with antenna.  Still no Dish. Get to manual network hunting again on phone, power off phone for two minutes. Finally see Dish in manual network selection and choose it. Great signal as expected. I still think the 15 minute rule might work but lack patience. (With Sprint years ago, while roaming on AT&T, the phone would check for Sprint about every fifteen minutes. So at highway speed you could get to about the third Sprint site before roaming would end). Using both cellmapper and signalcheck.net maps to hunt down these sites. Cellmapper response is almost immediate these days (was taking weeks many months ago).  Their idea of where a site can be is often many miles apart. Of course not the same dataset. Also different ideas as how to label a site, but sector details can match with enough data (mimo makes this hard with its many sectors). Dish was using county spacing in a flat suburban area, but is now denser in a hilly richer suburban area.  Likely density of customers makes no difference as a poorer urban area with likely more Dish customers still has country spacing of sites.

      Mike if you need more Dish data, I have been hunting down sites in western Columbus.  So far just n70 and n71 reporting although I CA all three.

      Good catch! I meant 115932/119932. Edited my original post I've noticed the same thing lately and have just assumed that they're skipping it now because they're finally able to deploy mmWave small cells.
