Network Vision/LTE - East Michigan Market (Detroit/Flint/Ann Arbor/Tri-Cities)

All of the panels on the cell sites in this side of the state are only 1900 capable. It seems like a huge waste of money if sprint planned on swapping them out for new ones or even just bolting an extra 800 panel up on the racks when the ibez crap is all figured out

When they deployed it originally the Canadian holders were not in a rush to reband 800 but very recent relegation showed that the canycks expedited rebanding to 2016 instead of 2017+ as originally envisioned.

Most recent deployments had standard NV antennas deployed without the smr equipment like the southern border.

Yeah, in Sprint's mind...why waste capex on 800 equipment if it will be a few years out.  Also, given how Ericsson is already changing out RRU's, some places they would never been used at all before being replaced.

So, whether Sprint buys an 800 only panel for IBEZ areas with PCS only panels, or if they buy a new Dualband panel, the result is pretty much the same.  Maybe they will even get a custom B26/B41 antenna panel to put beside the existing B25 NV panels?

Do you have a source for that? I tried looking through the 800 TA site but the reports are only up to the first quarter.

I was wondering, and would like to inquire about any possible upgrades going on and/or around Livonia. I'm wondering this because I recently noticed some people up in a cell tower in Livonia, which is where I live. The upgrades I am inquiring about would be any possible B41 upgrades happening in the area. I'm always looking up at the towers to see if there is anyone up there, so I was just wondering. Thank you for any information.

There is only so much info that can be given outside of Premier Sponsor forums where detailed Band 41 info exists. Basically, the Eastern Michigan market has its Network Vision 1.0 upgrades completed and we are now seeing Band 41 equipment being installed across the country and Michigan. Reports are beginning to trickle in with Band 41 going live in the state.

You may want to consider becoming a sponsor to gain access to more thorough details and maps not available in open forum. There is always room for more spotters here at S4GRU and you could be on the front lines in your area giving reports.

  • 2 weeks later...

I really want to see the CDMA 800/B26 schedule for my market

Spolier...none scheduled in the next 6 months in the East Michigan market.  At least, as of October 1st.  We should get an update at the end of the month that may include this for your market.

Would there be anything about Band 41 in my area on those maps?

It shows shows every site in the East Michigan market that is scheduled to receive B41 in the next 6 months.

I pulled the trigger and found the map pretty good. I figured the site clueing me in on the Galaxy Note 4 trade-in deal means I'm still ahead $150 even after paying for the map.

The map is just gravy.  Knowing you paid for a portion of this month's expenses and keep the lights on at S4GRU is really the prize!

Encountered B41 in the Durand,  Swartz Creek and Grand Blanc areas today.

Any speed test results to share? I've yet to encounter any B41 in my area and just want to know what to look forward to.

Sorry, i was driving. However, where I've seen B41 in Flint,  Lansing and Howell have been running typically in the 30s down when I've run speed tests.

Here you go. I managed to get 3 speed tests for you today.

South Lansing area:

Between Howell and Lansing along I-96. B41 just came online this week. This speed actually peaked in the high 30s but I switched sectors as I was running the test and knocked down the average a bit.

Fenton area. I just discovered yesterday that this tower has B41 live:

This is just gravy but here is a B25 speedtest from a site in the Howell area that was recently converted from a GMO to full build. The speed actually peaked around 25 but, again, sector switching and all:

I haven't been able to connect to B41 in Howell lately. Don't know if it's offline or the network isn't shunting me over to B41.

Band 41 live in the Hartland area today as I was going home. Antennas have been up for a couple months so I've been checking nearly daily.

I connected to it as well two nights ago, but could not reproduce a connection on the way out today.

I haven't connected to B41 in Howell for over a week. I don't know if the site was on for testing or if the network isn't shunting me over to B41. I'll be in Hartland today. I'd like to run a speed test while I'm not trying to navigate rush hour traffic.

Couresty of Signal Check Pro, I discovered a new site in the Highland area today. The BSL address didn't seem to match up with any former Nextel sites. If I'm not mistaken, Sprint's coverage map for the longest time showed a future tower icon in the same area.
