We never got WiMax... I had 2 phones which had it and paid premium data fees. Now I have GN with the fancy LTE and I'm still waiting. Any word on where NV is around my area? I see the running list thread says October for first sites but I haven't seen my phone connect to anything yet.

My contract expires in 3 months and after 13 years with sprint its too little too late for me.

I went from the state line Ohio, up to the Detroit area, all sites were ehrpd. Right outside of the Casino I was almost getting 2 mbps down and 1 up. That was Sat.

Was that on LTE or normal 3G?

that would have been 3g, ehrpd is just a software program that sprint downloads for smooth transition from 4g to 3g, but must' be in place before lte is live

Oh yeah. I read about that before. I'm afraid its too late for me. Nexus 4 is about to be released and an unlocked GSM phone sounds good to me right now. The 4G LTE mumbo jumbo doesn't mean anything to me and T-Mobile is pumping 31Mb at my house vs the screenshot I posted earlier on Sprint.

Hop on T-Mo no-contract until LTE arrives. Or stay with them forever. Really up to you. I don't think anyone here is gonna beg you to stay.

I work at one of the Sprint tower sites in Flint MI (Sprint leases tower space from us). General Dynamics has been working on upgrading our tower for Sprint 4g.

 

Sitting in my office now, with 4g enabled, I'm getting 2 bars of 4g signal strength.

Just signed up to say that I'm in Port Huron and decided to switch to LTE/CDMA mode. It connected on eHRPD:13. Did a speed test and it's 409k down and 217k up. When testing, I can get it to peak around 700k on the download. Just did one that was consistent 600k.

 

I had an Evo Shift last year and was really surprised when I reset the phone and it connected 4G. Even our stores here didn't know we had WiMax (They only REAL sprint store is at the other end of town which the WiMax signal doesn't reach.)

 

Anyway, does this mean that I might get 4g at the launch?

work should have started by now, no one has reported anything going on, but it shouldn't be long before you start seeing LTE signals maybe in the next 30-60 days, also you guys have protection sites like we do in toledo( tho we only have one) that is based off clearwires WiMAX 4g and yes you will get LTE as they are deploying every single tower with it from ground up should see better 3g speeds as well... Might not be immediately, or even at the "launch" of the market. The WiMax 4G is provided by Clearwire, not Sprint. LTE is rolled out by Sprint and just because an area has 4G WiMax doesn't mean LTE will be deployed there first.

This explains the trouble I was having with my signal today in Fenton. It's a drive-by photo so I apologize about the lack of quality or closeup. I've recently noticed EHRPD in Fenton, Holly, Hartland and Howell areas so hopefully we're seeing 4G coming to my area very soon.

eHRPD doesn't necessarily mean LTE is impending... it just means eHRPD

The speeds are ok where I live(warren,mi) I average about 500 download and 600 upload. I haven't even seen eHRPD in my area. Sprint has abused this market badly. When my 18th birthday comes up in May. I was hoping to stay with sprint but Sprint has let me down so much even when I bought my EVO Design for the WiMax that never came. Can't wait to say goodbye!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

No one cares how much you dislike Sprint.

      Internet Air arrived at my parents' place last week, and got set up over the weekend. Upload speeds were respectable at ~30 Mbps in some areas. Downloads, less than 100 Mbps. T-Mobile performs a lot better, off of AFAIK the same site (albeit with lower upload speeds). So after some more testing the AT&T box will probably get returned.

      Google is opening up its AI type editing features to "To use some features, you must have at least 3 GB RAM and Android 8.0 and up." Of course some features are reserved for Pixel phones.    Wonder if this will cause Samsung to expand what the s21 can do in terms of AI in future firmware updates?    Of course what we are really talking about is the data that they can capture from photos. Access to all your photos is required.
