Network Vision/LTE - Albuquerque market (including El Paso, Las Cruces, Santa Fe, Los Alamos, Roswell)

Oh, happy day. I need to come back down to New Mexico and enjoy this momentous occasion. Although 3G in Los Alamos always worked well for me, especially the North Mesa and DP Road sites, I would have loved to have seen LTE arrive before I left in September 2013. I'm so happy for you all! ¡Eeeeee, B26!

This would help White Rock so much at my parents house near the Overlook.

Overlook has always been tough. As is the back of Rover Blvd. With that hill across from the tower acting as a RF shadow and the depression over by Overlook, I wouldn't expect much improvement with a full build. Maybe extending into the shadow 100-200'.

A second White Rock site that reaches into that shadow would be ideal. Even a pico cell on public right of way in Overlook Park would be an innovative way to handle it,

My parents back up to overlook.  It is tough. They have an airave which helps (when it works). However, I have converted them to whatsapp which my brother uses as well.

When I talked to the network team last week, the guy told me that our market would be fully completed by December.

Well I will hope that it is closer to the schedule posted in the premier area then what I was told. If the 3G was better durning peek time it would not be so bad. Until then it happens when it happens.

I stay in White Rock with family a couple nights a week while I work up here. 3g is just not super strong as you get closer to overlook. I even have trouble with voice signals inside the place I stay. SMR and B26 will work wonders down there.

NV 3.0 or NV 4.0. I think we are a solid year away.

I like seeing those B26 Sensorly tracks.  Keep running through Los Alamos and Santa Fe, please.  :2tu:

Maybe a drive down Trinity in LA and down St. Francis (and possibly Peralta) in SF soon?  :fingers:

It felt good laying some purple down today along truck route. I will go home (white rock) down front hill road so i can lay some more down. I might also be conviced to go St Francis going back through Santa Fe tomorrow after work ;)

Ah! I can get a picture of one of the crews working tomorrow if you like me to? Just didn't feel like snapping them today.

I also just had the realization that even though Sprint is really late to deploying LTE in Los Alamos and Santa Fe, they still beat AT&T.  Amazingly, AT&T only has LTE in Tierra Amarilla and Lake Abiquiu in Northern New Mexico.  Their omission in the City Different is quite startling, seeing how Verizon fired up LTE in Santa Fe in Mid 2012 and Tmo did in Mid 2014.  AT&T is way behind.

TMO is also very limited in Santa Fe and drop to 2G between ABQ and Santa Fe.  IF Sprint can bang out the whole drive between LA to ABQ (which lets face it is most of the traffic during the week), would be great.

yep. Only place I didn't get it was around the hospital. I think it was a combination of being in between sectors and the hospital area being in a depression relative to the tower.

At TA-3 I pickup 1X800 briefly but switch to Verizon roaming (signal isnt great either) as does my coworker. She just keeps her phone off. I'm going to blame my building. Nobody really gets good reception. Even Verizon LTE has issues there.

On a side note about AT&T, forcing my T-Mo Note 4 into LTE only mode on B17, I've picked up AT&T LTE in Taos and in Santa Fe. It wouldn't connect obviously since there is not an agreement between T-Mo and AT&T. AT&T roams on Commnet at TA-3.

Where at TA-3? I picked up B26 up there yesterday, though it was outside driving in my car.

I did find some permits for fiber install last night, but the city site isn't showing them right now. :(

    • Definite usage quirks in hunting down these sites with a rainbow sim in a s24 ultra. Fell into a hole yesterday so sent off to T-Mobile purgatory. Try my various techniques. No Dish. Get within binocular range of former Sprint colocation and can see Dish equipment. Try to manually set network and everybody but no Dish is listed.  Airplane mode, restart, turn on and off sim, still no Dish. Pull upto 200ft from site straight on with antenna.  Still no Dish. Get to manual network hunting again on phone, power off phone for two minutes. Finally see Dish in manual network selection and choose it. Great signal as expected. I still think the 15 minute rule might work but lack patience. (With Sprint years ago, while roaming on AT&T, the phone would check for Sprint about every fifteen minutes. So at highway speed you could get to about the third Sprint site before roaming would end). Using both cellmapper and signalcheck.net maps to hunt down these sites. Cellmapper response is almost immediate these days (was taking weeks many months ago).  Their idea of where a site can be is often many miles apart. Of course not the same dataset. Also different ideas as how to label a site, but sector details can match with enough data (mimo makes this hard with its many sectors). Dish was using county spacing in a flat suburban area, but is now denser in a hilly richer suburban area.  Likely density of customers makes no difference as a poorer urban area with likely more Dish customers still has country spacing of sites.
    • Mike if you need more Dish data, I have been hunting down sites in western Columbus.  So far just n70 and n71 reporting although I CA all three.
    • Good catch! I meant 115932/119932. Edited my original post I've noticed the same thing lately and have just assumed that they're skipping it now because they're finally able to deploy mmWave small cells.
