Spotted another damaged oDAS antenna on 5th Ave and Dean St in Brooklyn. Not sure which carrier it belongs to but I emailed the extenet NOC and they replied within minutes with a ticket opened.

This is right by Barclays Center and probably happened as the scaffolding around the adjacent building came down after seemingly a decade

Looks like a Verizon small cell. Per StreetView it has been broken for years and it looks like it happened when the scaffolding first went up. Construction crew damaged it and never reported it smh.

So it has been that way since at least 2020. I guess the franchises don’t get out there and inspect these things very often, if even monitor for degraded performance. That’s disappointing.

Band 2 just dropped from 20MHz to 15MHz here in Crown Heights. Looks like they're going straight for 10MHz n25.

just noticed this in Manhattan. Not sure if N25 is live yet though.

Some keep permits spotted:

  1. Sprint eNB 74192
    1. Location: 40.76057258935317, -73.97392884117325
  2. Sprint eNB Unknown
    1. Location: 40.723486289209035, -73.83890108892606

We can also remove Sprint eNB 73910 from the keep site map. It was broadcasting the keep PLMN for a long time but I see a decommission permit for it. Located at 40.67915438088181, -73.95809385378713.

Edit: Passed by 73910 and antennas were removed.

Just realized why I haven't seen it yet. My Z Flip 4 doesn't have N25. It doesn't even show up in the band menu to enable for my T-Mobile Sim. Only N41 N66 N71 and N260/N261.

You may be able to enable it.

This link is for the S22 but the process is the same for most Samsung models:

I think this is a fully converted keep site and I added it to the map, but I haven't confirmed it yet.

Ah, that big red and white tower by JFK. Looking at streetview it looks like it was converted from Clearwire to Sprint in July 2018

And it def looks like T-Mobile now

The DAS systems at LGA Terminals A and B have updated B2 to match the citywide current allocation, no idea about Terminal C. Both A and B have n41 at 100 MHz, no idea if the 40 block is also live, and B41 at 20 MHz. JFK T5 also has n41 live on it when I passed through mid January, I didn't check if B41 was there.

The subway system is still a mix of some stations at 10 MHz (pre-merger B2 allocation), 15 (post-merger first expansion, not the current EARFCN 15), and 20 MHz. Besides the L train tunnel between Bedford and 1st Avenues, still no sign of NR anywhere underground, but the 5G icon shows up at some stations. B26 is officially gone from the subway system DAS, so I would assume B25 is gone as well. Fulton Street in Manhattan and a few other stations had 20 MHz B41 active for Sprint as well, and that is gone too.

If anyone rides LIRR to/from Atlantic Terminal, I have an update on the (very) long awaited cell service in the tunnels. Verizon has had service up and running for over a year but T-Mobile hasn't turned on anything yet.

"The MTA had requested we move the backhaul room to a different location.  The team has done that and has submitted to our vendor that we are complete.  Vendor is schedule to deliver backhaul to 2 locations (1 for each Tunnel) the latest timeline for each is as follows:

  • Jamaica to Atlantic Tunnel – Backhaul vendor is delivering our circuit by 2/28.  At that time we will integrate and have service for March
  • Atlantic to Jamaica Tunnel – We have completed the construction work.  We encounter delays with construction crews.  The backhaul vendor has given a date of April to complete their work.  We then will be in service in April sometime.

I apologize for this project taking longer than anticipated unfortunately we encountered delays beyond our control."

Don't know how widespread this is but on my s23 ultra was looking at Network configurations and noticing here in the borough of the bronx. They're doing a 40 + 20 n41 combination and a 40 plus 40  n41 combination.

I've seen the same 40+20 combo in Findlay OH. Seems they try to use it anywhere they have limited b41 spectrum access.

Sprint eNB 6290 finally got converted. Now it's T-Mobile eNB 307360.

Mapping B41 for this is proving to be the hardest thing to do with the macro density around it. I picked up all the other bands but that one.

@T-MoblieUser207 The Sprint billboard site in Red Hook right next to the BQE got converted.

Updated! I don't see the eNB on Cellmapper yet, so that part is still unknown.

Has anyone else spotted n41 PCI changes? My home tower n41 PCIs no longer match B66's PCI, and plenty of towers that used to match no longer do. Convert sites were always the exception but now it seems most, if not all T-Mobile pre-merger towers no longer match.

I went and visited this site, and the downtilt is extreme for the 6449 panel on the 3rd sector that the Google car didn't catch. I'm surprised they even did a 3rd sector, with how close the site is to the others nearby.

I was able to pass by this site recently and the extreme downtilt has been fixed lol.

Updated my iPhone to iOS 16.4 to try out that standalone toggle and it does as it says. It attempts to force your phone to stay on standalone 5G. In Field Test Mode you can see the network and phone fight over it though. It'll swap back and forth between NSA and SA pretty frequently, sometimes several times in a minute. I'm seeing 3CA in standalone mode with 100MHz of n41 being the primary carrier. I can't tell what the second or third carriers are though. If Milan's twitter is anything to go by then it's likely n41+n41+n25.

Standalone 5G has come a long way from the early days when phones would camp on n71 and only get 5Mbps. Download and upload speeds so far have been virtually the same as in NSA mode.

Drove by that site on Friday and it still wasn't live. I don't know if we're just catching a lot of these sites right after equipment is installed or if T-Mobile is just taking their time actually turning on the sites but the signal improvements couldn't arrive sooner.

Added them all! The tower at (40.86216124309271, -73.86241946635127) was already marked on the map as converted, so I would guess the recent permit would be for a modification. C-band/CBRS perhaps?
Also, I think the Sprint tower at 40.72582,-73.859004 has been converted to T-Mobile eNB 326104.

I think I figured out what's up with this site. It's a really weird one where Sprint had antennas on two separate buildings but operated it as a single site. At 2432 Matthews Ave they had a west facing sector on the roof while on 2428 Matthews Ave they have an east and north facing sector.

Back in August 2022 they got a permit to only decom the west facing sector on 2432 Matthews Ave and install new cabinets but it seems like they did all the work to convert the site back then. The permit states:

Quote

T-MOBILE/SPRINT SITE MODIFICATIONS TO INCLUDE THE REMOVAL OF (4) EXISTING ANTENNAS AND (4) EXISTING RRH UNITS ON ROOF IN ADDITION TO THE REMOVAL OF (1) EXISTING CABINET AND INSTALLATION OF (3) NEW CABINETS WITHIN AN EXISTING EQUIPMENT SHELTER.

This new permit that was approved January 2023 seems to be a conversion permit for the antennas on 2428 Matthews Ave and moving the third sector so that all three are on one building.

This one says:

Quote

T-MOBILE/SPRINT SITE MODIFICATIONS. INSTALL NEW ANTENNA SECTOR (3 ANTENNAS AND 2 RRH UNITS TOTAL). INSTALL (6) ADDITIONAL ANTENNAS AND (4) RRH UNITS. REMOVE (8) EXISTING ANTENNAS, (1) EXISTING MICROWAVE DISH, AND (8) EXISTING RRH UNITS.

I think they retroactively submitted the permit since they added the new sector to 2428 Matthews Ave and didn't want to get in trouble with DoB/FDNY/etc.
