Robert is it possible Sprint would announce LTE in the Bronx and Manhattan before the other boro's?

If not then an official launch won't be anytime this year

Kinda shocking not to see LTE pop up anywhere else but those 2 places.

Agreed. Why wouldn't it be few places within each boro's lighting up? All the sites that's been completed for 3G, shouldn't they also be done and ready for LTE?

Maybe. However, the NYC market has suffered significant delays even before the hurricane. Now it is even worse. There is no imminent market launch, but service will continue growing every week.

Its all psychological. Have you ever been driving home from somewhere and you have to pee but you can def hold it, and suddenly as soon as you open the door to your house you have to run to the bathroom or else you feel like you're gonna piss yourself. That's because you know you're so close. Hence the impatience with LTE.

Oh great now I have to get up again...

Some places in the city are still without power, crazy!

The Bronx will be pretty much blanketed by early next year.

I wonder if my complaints to the FCC has anything to do with them prioritizing the Bronx lol.

But on a serious note having a good data connection changes the user experience dramatically and is so refreshing not to have constant drop outs and buffering.

This is sweet.

Remember Sprint only promeses 6-8 on the download, if the network is at peak performance that's 25 down. Basically what I am saying when a lot of people jump on 4G it will slow down. Can any tell me otherwise? Also what are Att and Verizon speeds like?

maybe, 6-8 is still fast so it doesn't matter. I have LTE. Vzw and Att have the same speed if not faster.

Yea it will slow down to 6-8 mpbs. And then once they launch LTE 800 it will go up. And then when they launch LTE 2500 the speeds will be much higher.

Sprint doesn't promise any speed. They advertise 6-8 Mbps. They advertise that, not because of loads, but because LTE performance is signal strength dependent. The peak speeds are people with a strong signal. If you built a heat map of signal strength, most customers would have 6-8Mbps or greater. Some will have less, but they would be in building that hinders RF or at the edge of service.

I have a VZW LTE hotspot. My speeds have been dropping dramatically. My peak daytime speeds most days are now 4-6Mbps. So there is no guarantee of future performance if even VZW gets bogged down. But Sprint has half the customers of VZW, is building a denser network, and has more options to add more carriers for capacity than VZW has. All in all, I feel good that Sprint will be able to keep their LTE speeds up for a long time. Especially now with Softbank coming on board. They will not tolerate failure.

Sprints network seems extremely promising, but I wonder how much effect will them leasing there network to other providers would it have on sprints own network on the long term.

I also wondered the same thing and the fact that sprint is extending LTE to the prepaid subs also. Makes me wonder why I'm postpaid if I could go prepaid and get the same service minus the brand new phones and roaming.

LTE extended to prepaid subs?? Like Virgin and Boost Mobile?? I don't think so. Virgin and Boost Mobile now have 4G phones for purchase but they are 4G WiMax phones NOT 4G LTE phones. Sprint may have some wholesale agreements for LTE but I don't know the details of any such agreements.

Yup sprint will have 4G LTE on Virgin mobile and Boostmobile by the 1Q

Robert you are actually correct, they are advertising it not promising, what was I thinking... Also Tybo I have always been wondering the same thing. If boost customers get the same service for less of regular sprint customers what's the point of being a Sprint customer? Also Boost customer have unlimited everything for less. While currently they don't have 4G LTE, what happens if they get it in the future? The only benefit I currently see is getting top tier phone's that boost doesn't offer. I hope Sprint does something to keep Sprint customer on priority! Also on the side note, I haven't been happy with my Sprint speed's but since I know a fix is coming I am extremely happy with my Sprint service. Can't wait till everyone is talking about how awesome Sprint LTE is :)

You're right. Wow..I didn't expect Sprint to offer LTE service on its prepaid brands so soon. I was hoping/expecting that prepaid brands Virgin and Boost Mobile would start getting LTE phones in 2014. This way it gives more preference and encouraging those that are prepaid to switch to postpaid to get LTE.

Also if Sprint were to keep prepaid on 4G Wimax until 2014, it gives Clearwire a source of revenue throughout 2013 which they desperately need. It looks like Boost will offer the ZTE Aurora and the HTC Kingdom and Virgin will offer the Samsung Galaxy Victory. All the LTE phones are meh....and Sprint seems to be keeping all the high end smartphones on the Sprint brand so I am ok with that,

    • Since this is kind of the general chat thread, I have to share this humorous story (at least it is to me): Since around February/March of this year, my S22U has been an absolute pain to charge. USB-C cables would immediately fall out and it progressively got worse and worse until it often took me a number of minutes to get the angle of the cable juuuussst right to get charging to occur at all (not exaggerating). The connection was so weak that even walking heavily could cause the cable to disconnect. I tried cleaning out the port with a stable, a paperclip, etc. Some dust/lint/dirt came out but the connection didn't improve one bit. Needless to say, this was a MONSTER headache and had me hating this phone. I just didn't have the finances right now for a replacement.  Which brings us to the night before last. I am angry as hell because I had spent five minutes trying to get this phone to charge and failed. I am looking in the port and I notice it doesn't look right. The walls look rough and, using a staple, the back and walls feel REALLY rough and very hard. I get some lint/dust out with the staple and it improves charging in the sense I can get it to charge but it doesn't remove any of the hard stuff. It's late and it's charging, so that's enough for now. I decide it's time to see if that hard stuff is part of the connector or not. More aggressive methods are needed! I work in a biochem lab and we have a lot of different sizes of disposable needles available. So, yesterday morning, while in the lab I grab a few different sizes of needles between 26AWG and 31 AWG. When I got home, I got to work and start probing the connector with the 26 AWG and 31 AWG needle. The stuff feels extremely hard, almost like it was part of the connector, but a bit does break off. Under examination of the bit, it's almost sandy with dust/lint embedded in it. It's not part of the connector but instead some sort of rock-hard crap! That's when I remember that I had done some rock hounding at the end of last year and in January. This involved lots of digging in very sandy/dusty soils; soils which bare more than a passing resemblance to the crap in the connector. We have our answer, this debris is basically compacted/cemented rock dust. Over time, moisture in the area combined with the compression from inserting the USB-C connector had turned it into cement. I start going nuts chiseling away at it with the 26 AWG needle. After about 5-10 minutes of constant chiseling and scraping with the 26AWG and 31AWG needles, I see the first signs of metal at the back of the connector. So it is metal around the outsides! Another 5 minutes of work and I have scraped away pretty much all of the crap in the connector. A few finishing passes with the 31AWG needle, a blast of compressed air, and it is time to see if this helped any. I plug my regular USB-C cable and holy crap it clicks into place; it hasn't done that since February! I pick up the phone and the cable has actually latched! The connector works pretty much like it did over a year ago, it's almost like having a brand new phone!
    • That's odd, they are usually almost lock step with TMO. I forgot to mention this also includes the September Security Update.
    • 417.55 MB September security update just downloaded here for S24+ unlocked   Edit:  after Sept security update install, checked and found a 13MB GP System update as well.  Still showing August 1st there however.
    • T-Mobile is selling the rest of the 3.45GHz spectrum to Columbia Capital.
    • Still nothing for my AT&T and Visible phones.
