Network Vision/LTE - Jacksonville Market (including Gainesville/St. Augustine/Ocala)

Why the sad face do you really need 300+ Mbps on a phone. It does not affect the total capacity of the tower. 4x4 and 4x2 have the same tower capacity.

I really want it for the edge of cell benefits

As I understand it, 4x4 would allow 300mbs from the device end, but we will still have beamforming plus the 4x2 benefits so edge of signal should see a sizable improvement.

It doesn't seem to matter though when it comes to Sprint. If it sees band 41 at -116 dbm and there is a band 25 or band 26 tower with better signal even if they are at capacity it will switch you over. With band 4x4 it would hold it longer maybe.

I think this is more of an optimization thing than anything else...

In Ocala and Gainesville I seen Verizon and At&t upgrading left and right. Sprint and Tmobile not so much especially Sprint.

Great. Better battery life, more features better rf in very band(hard to believe )+ CA, s pen, samusng pay, gorgeous screen, faster wireless charging, better front and back cameras and camorders, fingerprint scanner and even better Bluetooth. Im not complaining. I only miss those front speakers and all of the lte bands the nexus 6 had. Well that and updates

For some odd reason I want to try an iPhone 6s plus. When I went to buy my Nexus 6 I was tempted to buy a 6 plus. I'm getting that Apple itch again.

I've recently received an iPad mini 3 to place orders for customers. I also won a iPad mini 1 for being 8 year with no work related accidents. Anyways I just can't get into tablets anymore. I think I'll wait until my wife gets her 6s plus before I make my final decision.

I don't know if it's band 30 but they have been replacing panels and adding RRU

I talked with some Betacomm folks that worked on a DAS system for all of the carriers at my workplace and they mentioned AT&T has a set budget and often hit the budget before year's end and they stop all projects, even maintenance for their sites.  It is interesting that they seem to be getting the most attention in Jacksonville, though.  I believe they have a monopoly on the cellular frequency here.  I have never been able to connect to Verizon's 850 1x/3G signals here.  Only 1900.

I only have seen one site upgrade in my region from AT&T this season. And they aren't even complete with their LTE deployment here.

Yes AT&T does have all the cellular in this market. To me AT&T has better overall coverage and that is why. I think that AT&T are doing all their upgrades that they should have done last year because for the first half of this year I didn't see any work of theirs going on.

Which carrier seems to be doing the most work in your region?  IIRC, T-Mobile/Sprint are limited where you're located.  Unless you're referring to a nearby town?

Verizon and Tmo are actively deploying here. Both significantly.

    • Unable to confirm if it's really off but I noticed this morning that I'm no longer connecting to Band 41 on my home site. Switching my phone to LTE-only pretty much always put me on Band 41 since it was the least used band on T-Mobile's network. Now I'm only able to connect to Band 2/66. Not complaining because it means speeds are faster on LTE and maybe 150MHz n41 is around the corner.

    • Definite usage quirks in hunting down these sites with a rainbow sim in a s24 ultra. Fell into a hole yesterday so sent off to T-Mobile purgatory. Try my various techniques. No Dish. Get within binocular range of former Sprint colocation and can see Dish equipment. Try to manually set network and everybody but no Dish is listed.  Airplane mode, restart, turn on and off sim, still no Dish. Pull upto 200ft from site straight on with antenna.  Still no Dish. Get to manual network hunting again on phone, power off phone for two minutes. Finally see Dish in manual network selection and choose it. Great signal as expected. I still think the 15 minute rule might work but lack patience. (With Sprint years ago, while roaming on AT&T, the phone would check for Sprint about every fifteen minutes. So at highway speed you could get to about the third Sprint site before roaming would end). Using both cellmapper and signalcheck.net maps to hunt down these sites. Cellmapper response is almost immediate these days (was taking weeks many months ago).  Their idea of where a site can be is often many miles apart. Of course not the same dataset. Also different ideas as how to label a site, but sector details can match with enough data (mimo makes this hard with its many sectors). Dish was using county spacing in a flat suburban area, but is now denser in a hilly richer suburban area.  Likely density of customers makes no difference as a poorer urban area with likely more Dish customers still has country spacing of sites.
    • Mike if you need more Dish data, I have been hunting down sites in western Columbus.  So far just n70 and n71 reporting although I CA all three.
