Network Vision/LTE - Nashville Market (including Knoxville/Chattanooga/Tri-Cities)

Has anyone in Nashville noticed any changes. I am planning on switching to Sprint but I want to make sure that I know things are better, a couple of my friends use Sprint and it seems to swing wildly in consistency. Every time it seems to get better the next day or several days it tanks. Thanks in advance.

I'm in Nashvegas several times a month and I can't say NV has really started there but 3G speeds are generally really good. I was around Vandy last week and was pushing 1.8 Mbps at 5 PM and then was getting 500 Kbps in the middle of Opry Mills a couple hours later. I didn't really try 4G since I was trying to save battery. In terms of call consistency I never have a problem in the metro area.

Please refer to this thread. I know you guys are new but please look at the stickies that contain articles for each of the upcoming first and second round markets including (Nashville and Memphis). It can avoid a lot of forum clutter when many of these questions have been asked over and over.

Also if you guys become sponsors, you can get exclusive access to a map Robert has been making of all active LTE sites as they come online.

I live across the street from mtsu in great 4g wimax area for my old 3D but nothing as of yet on LTE. I been watching daily on prolly two main towers in boro and so far no work as of yet done. My mom just got LTE on her sam note on ATT....omfg they have killer signal! Got like 18 down in thevliving room lol. I get great wimax speed here. Have been pffft for like 2 yrs. During busy times 5 prolly but at night when im at work? 8-10. Dude 10 with no interruption and building penetration is all i care about. I wanna be able to watch porn, youtube or netflix inside or out anytime of day and solid enough to never buffer and DL rom with no interruption in 5-10 min. Anything more wont mean much to me. Oh! And be able to get good torrent speed for stuff. This less than 500k bs aint cutting it. Dont care how much i like sprint and hate red. They got till thanxgiving....ill pay extra if it comes to it. I cant take this not being able to watch youtube bs when EVERYONE else does. Not crying just saying....this evo lte is useless with no signal.

I know what you mean man. Im in Madison TN which is right next to Nashville of Course. I HAD the Evo LTE, but traded it for a Galaxy S2 Epic Touch plus Cash just because 3G was awful. Not to mention the multitasking on the phone is just bad too. I would have kept the Evo LTE but that slow 3G was killing me.

Went back to the Galaxy S2 just so I can have 4G WiMax again. Which I also tether from and what not.

I also get about 10Mbits down at night or 4-5Mbits down during the day which comes to about 500KB/s which is good for me.

When LTE hits the music city, Il be happy to go back to a LTE device.

I dunno...double edge sword kinda for few months. On comcast wifi this lte is amazing so i see the potential. Ive owned all 3 evos and i see bigger jump from this evo over 3d than 3d over the og evo. HTC seems to be stepping up a lil. The 3d cant hold up to the s2 but s3 and lte is just benz and lexus. Both together wod be perfect device. Htc screen, build and quality with battery, support and ram of s3. Our call quality is better and 3g but the s3 lte seems better. I am minority and prefer sense.

Why anyone would give up good wimax for 3G makes me facepalm...

Sent with AOSP JB Toro on Forum Runner

I would have stuck with Wimax if my phone would hold a signal indoors, but it didn't.

Well, it looks like it has begun. I've heard of two LTE sightings in the Nashville market. I read about the tower that went up in Kingston Springs west of Nashville and I had a customer come in 2 weeks ago that said he connected to LTE on his iPhone 5 in the LaVergne area (Southeast of Nashville).

Just noticed this. I was playing around this morning and noticed the network type change. I didn't see this yesterday so this is a good sign that Knoxville could be coming online soon. I have 2 screen shots one of the network type and a speed test I took when I seen the change.

Seeing that is just one part but considering there is work being done and sites are live in Memphis and Nashville it wouldn't be surprising to see LTE lighting up, plus Knoxville was one of the sites that was listed back in Sept to launch in "coming months"

Yeah...I remember reading some reaction to that list by people unfamiliar with Tennessee, but a lot of what they announced here are small cities/midsized townships either along or very near a major interstate(s). Cookeville (where I live) & Crossville are both along I-40 between Nashville & Knoxville. The Tri-Cities are all in proximity to I-81, Columbia is near I-65, and Clarksville & Tullahoma are both near I-24. Three of those are also college towns (Tennessee Tech here in Cookeville, Austin Peay in Clarksville and East TN State in Johnson City.

First noticed it at UT Hospital where I work. But I've had it all through west Knox and East and north Knox haven't tried south Knox yet. I also had it in Athens and Chattanooga this morning.

I don't see it around the farragut area, have you been there?

I'm on prl 25009 HTC Evo 4G LTE. Not sure what phone you have. Have you tried to toggle between cdma only and lte to see if it switches. Since I've connected the only place I jump back to evdo rev a is at the Food City next to Knoxville Center.
