Information about S4GRU Sponsorship levels and how to become a Sponsor

Recommended Posts

Clarification needed here, is it a sponsor violation to upload a screenshot from the Open Signal map app onto the S4GRU public forum?

No. But Open Signal is highly inaccurate for site locations.

Please note than on sponsor renewals, we are no longer accepting really low donation amounts (like $1). We feel that renewing members specifically understand the benefits of being a S4GRU Sponsor, and understand our costs and what it takes to keep the site online.

If you are suffering from severe financial distress and up for renewal, please send me a PM explaining your circumstances. We may be able to extend your deadlines for renewal, accept a substandard donation or be able to find another member to gift your renewal for six months. However, please note that $1 renewal donations will be refunded, and your sponsorship will not be extended.

Our expenses are growing every month and with the Holidays, our member giving is down. I thank you all for your understanding. And we appreciate all of you who support S4GRU.

I had a donation yesterday that I couldn't figure out who it was from. I sent back an email asking for the screen name, but I didn't get a response. But now that I read your post, I now know who it's from.

Thanks for supporting S4GRU.

I enjoy this forum very much and would rather have it member sponsored than all those annoying banner ads in other places.

I really think this can/will become the #1 place to discuss Sprint.

I'll get to premier.

I don't have paypal, but I have successfully made multiple donations via the link on the site. Just type in all your info to the left of the paypal log-in.

I was able to figure it out easy. However, I worked until 2am last night and slept in this morning. I upgraded you as soon as I woke up. Thanks for supporting S4GRU.

No problems. It isn't a big deal. I figured you would figure it out due to screen name and email address along with PM lol

Is it possible to donate via credit/debit cards? I have a debit visa gift card and I would like to use it to help out this site. (Also, visa doesn't let me refill that gift card so I want to get rid of it ASAP)

Edit: never mind, figured it out

Yes. You can click on the donate button and pay via PayPal with a credit card. No need for a PayPal account even. Thanks!

I'm REALLY frustrated trying to figure out how to become a premiere sponsor. I assume this means a certain dollar amount of donation... I already donated a couple times for the 'basic' sponsorship, but would LOVE to be a premiere sponsor...yet I can't find anything on how much I need to donate to do it. Having to jump through such hoops to donate money makes it really easy for me to just want to give up and move on to something else.

I'm sure the info is here somewhere, but a search of the forums turned up nothing, and I can't seem to find an email address to contact the admins to send a question, which would also be useful.

This seems to me to be a HUGE hole and likely throwing away a lot of money by not making this information easily accessible. You'd get a lot more donating members if you maybe put a couple notes below the donation button so people have an idea of what they need to donate to get to x access level, or a link to a page that says if you donate this you get this.

With that suggestion in place.... what's the answer? :-)

I would like to become a sponsor and rather pay using bitcoin. Will you be accepting bitcoin in the future?

One site that may be able to help you accept bitcoin is https://bitpay.com/

    • Hi killerz-     Thanks for the info. I assume that if I make a call via wifi, texts are still coming in through CDMA without VoLTE.....so the pebble is more useful for texts ? I probably am confused about what VoLTE is. I thought it was another way to use VOIP which was wifi calling ?  I don't think I understand how it boosts data vs. the regular wifi ? All of the phones that we have now have wifi calling, but I could definitely see how useful this would have been maybe 4+ years ago when I didn't have it. I do see that I have signal now that is strong, so I presume it is working, plus the LED is green.

    • You don't define cheap, but the LG v30 and v40 work well, can be rooted, and can be found for pretty cheap(<$100-150). As expected, the v30 is cheaper than the v40 and I can attest the v30 works very well. That being said, it lacks bands 28, 40, and 71 and has the drawback that Sprint never released Pie for it (the only vendor who didn't). This means some of the 9.0 bandwidth features are not available for SCP, that being said NSG is able to provide this data on 8.0.    Sprint LG V30+ (LS998) LTE Bands:         1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 20, 25, 26, 41  Sprint Lg V40 (LM-V405UA) LTE Bands: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 20, 25, 26, 28, 40, 41, 71
    • Hi all, I'm looking to purchase an Android for Cellmapper/logging purposes; accordingly, I was wondering if there are any cheap devices you guys recommended that work well with both SCP and Cellmapper. Thanks in advance!
    • 1. Wifi calling directly uses your home's wifi to place the call while the Pebble uses your internet connection to broadcast an LTE signal which your phone uses to place the call (once VoLTE is enabled). Before VoLTE is enabled, you don't place calls through the Pebble, it only boosts data. After 2-3 weeks, VoLTE should be enabled on the Pebble allowing simultaneous voice and MMS which wifi calling doesn't allow mms (but if you have a decent signal you can receive MMS without issue while on a wifi call). 2. Yes, any user can piggyback off the signal but I noticed the footprint isn't that large and didn't extend outside my home. I wouldn't be too concerned with that. 3. If you disconnect the device they will send you warnings that they will charge you if you don't reconnect it or send it back.
