WOW look at all the 4G accepted towers downtown Chicago! Looks like Sprint is gearing up for an official launch very soon!

And those are last weeks. I haven't posted this week yet. 70 Chicago market site updates this week.

This is what Sprint's maps shows. I guess apps have always lied to me. I'm definitely closest to the hospital but it could be the one on north giving me 4g.

On second thought, It might not be the one on North Ave, I drive past it every day and as of Saturday I wasn't getting 4G. It might actually be the one by Graf Park.

Where do we find tower maps and which have been accepted and turned on?

They are available to sponsors. You can receive sponsorship by donating to the site. Check out this link.

There is a "Donate" button at the top right of the main Forum page. Donate what you are willing to, and you can receive access to the maps. Well worth it IMO.

What does a site need to achieve to be listed as 4G accepted by Sprint.

Slightly off topic, is there a place on these boards to discuss this:

That will hit the media wire in the morning.

Wow a great weekend for LTE. I got LTE basically the whole way from the Loop to the Majestic Star casino in Gary and in the casino the whole time. Got like 16 down and 6 up at the casino. I leave the LTE on accidentally and come home to find im still connected to LTE in my Lincoln Park apartment. Getting like 4-6 Meg down and 3 up. In fact ive been getting LTE in lots of spots around the city finally.

I also had the clock problem when connected to LTE, the time skipped an hour ahead. I just set it to manual selection instead of auto, set it right, and the problem went away.

Accidentally leave the LTE on? I've left mine on since I've had the phone. Makes no noticable difference in battery life.

Thats why I had mine off. I thought I heard leaving the LTE on would suck battery life as the phone would be constantly searching for LTE. At least that was the case with my WiMax.

Totally different. Wimax was on a separate chip and was very very thirsty.

LTE is integrated in and these chipsets are very power efficient compared to the past. Just leave it on and let it eat. This why you don't see an included widget to toggle 4g

I doubt it's a setting with the sites.

I'm wondering if I can set up a tasker profile on my phone that cycles airplane mode every few minutes while the screen is off. Does anyone have a better idea? It's the only way I can connect to 4G half the time on my Evo.

I did some testing near a LTE tower by me and although the phone will hit on the tower for 3g/voice from quite a distance aways, it won't grab LTE until I'm literally 1,000 feet from the tower.

Seeing shreds of LTE more broadly these days. I had a good connection just outside of Woodfield this weekend. Testing continues in Glen Ellyn, Wheaton, Warrenville, Lisle etc. I see 4G from time to time along Roosevelt (which otherwise remains a black hole). Further north, all of Lake Cook Rd seems the be live now. Most of the 355/290/53 corridor remains LTE-free and weak for 3G.

Might be easier to just go to the Sprint store and hound them to replace your phone.
